What If Episode 20 Reactions
The two timelines meet in this episode.
Timeline 2:
It was the majority of the episode. In short: Xue Ming tries to win back Xia Guo. He explains everything that happened at that moment in the past when he bought the engagement ring, but didn't give it to her, and was left dejected, lying on the floor looking at the jewelry box.The episode makes us see her imagine him coming again asking her to marry him, and her looking like she's going to accept. But then she wakes up, and there in her wedding party store, she sees him walking through the door and what she saw in the dream happening. But her answer is no, she says he is acting out his play, and he thought she was going to play along, but no, because time has passed. But he doesn't give up and hands over the jewelry box. And at home, when she opens the jewelry box there is the purchase receipt showing the date of purchase, way back in the day, and it is the jewelry that she looked at so intensely that day.She cries disconsolately (as if saying: I have no chance of going back). But then, I heard the door bell ring and she, with her face full of tears, opens the door and looks at Xue Ming (both of them saying nothing), but implying that they are going to have a fresh start, a new chance.
Timeline 1:
It was less time in this episode, but it was wonderfully enough. Yu Jian takes Xia Guo to that hotel where she thought he was cheating on her with Wen Ya, but when she got there all her family and friends had organized a wedding ceremony. And she says to Yu Yian, Yu Jian's sister, you knew everything. They dress in their wedding clothes and enter the bride and groom's path. They look at each other, and Yu Jian's statement to her begins with: “Honey... and what he says there is very beautiful, and says everything about their story.Of sacrifices, of love that is worth it. He talks about the miracles that they fought and worked to happen, because they had perseverance. And then, he says, “I love you.” She simply hugs him and kisses him ardently and affectionately. They look into each other's eyes, touch foreheads. And the entire audience responds. The parents, their baby is there. And then (in a surreal way) this drama: Lenshan's Xia Guo meets Shanghai's Xia Guo. Lenshan's says she always wanted to go to Shanghai and will go. The one from Shanghai says she will open a business in Lenshan, after all it is her hometown. The two Xia Guo congratulate each other and congratulate each other on the happiness they have found. And they say there is no better or worse choice, but the choice that will make them better people. (This is the wish of timeline 2 of Yu Jian and Xia Guo from Shanghai being fulfilled: That they would both be better people in the choice they made and be well and happy.)
PS:
In the audience is Wei Ya and one of Yu Jian's friends, they are a couple now and they helped Yu Jian arrange the wedding party.
PS2:
This ending managed (despite everything) to be surreal and very good. Simple, it managed to get the message across and close both timelines in a positive way.
