I watched all episodes 1 to 20. No excuses!

The reason I write this story is that I watched all episodes from my opinion, because I feel bad for Han Ba-Da mostly. Do you know why? Let me tell you this story. I NEVER thought that the main characters would make me under my flaws.


Eun Kang and Han Ba Da have been best friends for over 20 years, I believe. Eun Kang is a very ill person. I have never seen that in episodes, because she has been obsessed with luxury and dark desires since high school. She met Han Ba-Da because she is rich and very friendly, BUT she has a backbone and very stronger than Eun Kang.

When they grew up, Han Ba Da did not realize that her best friend had darkest desires and wanted to be like her. In my opinion, Eun Kang should be grateful to have family and her best friend who supported her, but she thinks its ok to have dark desires to destroy people and hurt her own best friend. That is HORRIBLE.

Han Ba Da has been married to Cha Won for over 8 years, and beautiful girl. I don't understand why. Eun Kang tried to destroy between her best friend and slept with Han's husband, Cha WON. Because Eun Kang is not in love with him, because she wants to be Han Ba Da's life. Money and Luxury, Desires can kill you!

Cha Won, come on, He should stand on his ground and not lead to destroy his own marriage because he saw Eun Kang naked in the pool to tempt him, leading to lust to something happening. Also, he did not think about Han Ba Da's feelings and his own daughter, and his reputation.

Eun Kang thinks its ok to sleep with him, and pathetic. Ruined all of her friendship and her life.

Han Han Da found the letter Eun Kang wrote for her husband Cha, and, shocked, was deeply hurt in her heart, because she never thought her husband and her. Cha's life was good after Eun Kang always showed up at their place to do errands. I wish Han Ba Da would not let her get involved too much.


Han Ba Da decided to confront them in Episode 17 in public to ruin them. First, Han Ba Da slapped Eun Kang so hard, and she was shocked and realized she got busted. She realized her best friend, Han Da, had already found out about their affair. Cha Won tried to sit next to his wife, but she demanded he move to sit next to Eun, because he realized she knew what was going on. She slapped him three times until he got cut on his face.

Han told them about everything she found out from his daughter, and letter, also the picture. She is a very strong woman and smart, and challenging person. She decided to invite Cha's family. to confront them, to tell them that their son cheated on Han Ba Da with her best friend. She told her father-in-law, the quote " I give your son back" means she doesn't want him anymore, because she is not a kind person to sweep under the rug.

Finally, she left him, and he tried to stop her, because he truly loved her. He already lost her. His emotions. He is not a real man anyways. She moved out and lives with her mom. Her mom found out and confronted Eun Kang at their apartment, Han Ba Da, and Cha's apartment. I can't believe Cha allows her to enter the apartment.

Eun Kang is very selfish and has no remorse. She asked Cha outside that night in episode 18 or 19. She asked him to try a chance to get him into a relationship with her. He is going for it. Viral videos and stuff at the cafe in episode 17 from the beginning. When they got together, he also brought her to meet his family. His family has NO idea about her family. She is happy to have passed the teacher exam. Fuck her. Cha and Eun Kang decided to go to the restaurant, but Han Ba Da and her mother were there after they left to confront Eun Kang. But her mother yelled at her and called her bad names. Han Ba Da tried to get her out of the restaurant. A strangers already know about Eun Kang and Cha, because of the viral video on the internet. Eun Kang walks and sits at the table, and is confronted by a stranger, because a stranger asked her the quote" Does it feel good to steals your friend's husband, how much you are pathetic". She feels humiliated too much.

Han Ba Da found out her husband had brought her best friend to meet his family and got pissed off. Decided to show up at their place. Han asked them to come with her, and they are confused to follow her to Eun Kang's house. What happened?

Han Ba Da decide to open the door to Eun Kang's house, and they saw them, and Speechless. Han Ba Da's father-in-law yelled at them that they felt so deceived by Eun Kang and her family for using them for money.

Let me tell you about Ji Nam Chul, who is the brother-in-law married Cha's sister. He is a normal guy who grew up in poverty and farmer. He's a hard worker. He truly loves his wife and two kids. Unfortunately, Eun Kang's sister, Jo Eun San who is very pathetic and tempted. Jim Nam Chul is very loyal to this family and very smart. He is a very strong man. Anyway, He runs to save Eun san because she can't hear it behind her from the heavy cremated something to almost kill her, instead he saved her. She started to pump in her heart, and her eyes were on him like a prince in a magic. She is very pathetic and a loner. Somehow they started having an affair, because he has very confused, mixed feelings. He gave her an apartment to rent for a while, and they had a short affair until his wife found out and confronted him. He was busted. His father-in-law got angry between them.

I am very impressed that His wife is very stubborn and very strong, and very wise. She decided to have an affair with Eun Kang's uncle, and she enjoys it. Ji Nam Chul found out, and his heart was very hurt. His wife DEMANDS a divorce. Somehow she found out from her father's past that he hired thugs to beat up Eun Kang's uncle 18 years ago, and she supported marrying him, but they ran away together instead, never happened, and married Ji Nam Chul. She decided to confront him, and yelled at him the quote " I want a divorce, and I let him go to live with the wrench that he cheated on me with that wrench". Ji Nam Chul overheard from his wife. He got deeply hurt in his heart and was confused. Jo Eun San, who is pestering him all day and all night, calls him every day to talk with him. He won't refuse and stands on his ground. He knows he was wrong in the beginning because his kids already know. as long. After he got very hurt, and gave her divorce papers, left. He needs time, goes to his hometown, helps his sister and his father. Eun San realized that he won't leave his family, and decided to meet him in his hometown. And he saw her and ran to hug her, and she made him say something he should have made her stay instead. He let her go because she joined the mission. Yikes! In the end, he was confused and decided to drive to the airport, his feelings mixed. decided to pull out on another road; instead, he found out something in business with his father-in-law for an emergency. He decided to look for lawyers to investigate scammers and catch them. Father-in-law found out and saw his son-in-law, to think and thank him. He got back to his hometown. Eun San's uncle got embarrassed and ended the affair with her to let her go. She realized she loves her own husband, asked their kids if they wanted to see dad and gave him a chance to reconcile with dad Chu. They went to visit him, and saw kids running and screaming " DAD DAD". Jim Nam Chul got emotional and realized his feelings for his wife so stronger. They never leave each other at rest of their lives.


In Episode 20, Eun San is very pathetic and a loner, and is going on a mission. Eun Kang got law lawsuit from Ha Ba Da for Adultery. Eun Kang wants to talk with Ha Ba Da, but her mental breakdown and the realization of her dark desires can ruin her life. She got a job teaching for a day, because Han Ba Da's mother decided to set up the flyer in front of the school. Ha Ba Da decided to call Cha Won, but he did not pick up because he was sleeping. She decided to run to knock on the door to wake him up, and asked him if that was true. Eun Kang decided to break up with him because she had made the biggest mistake in destroying this family and friendship. Han Ba Da and her mother got confronted at each other front of the school in the early morning, no one was there. Eun Kang overheard them talking bout life and blah. The flyer down. Eun Kang did teach the children at school, and her resignation was at the last minute.

Han Ba Da and Eun Kang saw each other in the morning, and went to the cafe again, to talk about her behaviour and stuff, etc. Eun Kang told her that she realized her mental breakdown ruined her reputation and destroyed Han's family. She did feel sorry for her. Han Ba Da asked her about the question of her breakup with her husband, and wants to know. She explained to her that she feels the love affair is not love and humiliation, and she realized to open her own eyes to hurt people she loves.
Ha Ba Da was surprised and forgave her, also doesn't want to hold a grudge anymore. Eun Kang knows her friendship is already been destroyed and she has a 20-year friendship, also lost a good friend. Han Ba Da and Eun Kang were apart and not the same as they used to be.

Eun Kang decided to leave Seoul for real. and leave a letter to her family. What a pathetic sister, Eun Sa, running to Cha, informed him that Eun Kang had already left. Guess what? What an asshole, he got all crying and emotional for Eun Kang's leaving. He is a JERK.

Eun Kang got a job teaching children at a remote farm and is happy. She lost everything. Han Ba Da and Cha got divorced for real, and he realized he lost her forever. His quote says I am sorry I broke your heart so bad, he and Han Ba Da hold hands together to shake, and they decided to be good friends at the start. Han Ba Da decided to go to Italy for studies and more knowledge for three months. Later, Han Ba Da became a successful businesswoman in jewelry and won many awards.

Ji Nam Chul finally became a successful chairman of businessman and proud, and stayed with his family. never leave his family.

Eun san decided to send him a video to say good bye, and he saw her video, did not feel comfortable, decided to delete her video and blocked her. Eun San is on a mission to visit her older sister Eun Kang at the remote Farm, because she is a very pathetic person. Do you know why? She told her to go to the dock. Eun Kang runs to the dock to see Han Ba Da's ex-husband, Cha, on the dock. I saw a scene that is different between them and Han Da. Do you know why? When she saw him and smiled at him, and he did not smile at her, and bit smile, not a big one. He knows he is wrong, and they are not close like apart each other to stand and see each other. not like Cha and Han Ba Da are very close and stand each other to hold hands to shake. They never are the same. In the end, Eun Kang decided to do something gift for Ha Ba Da, and she opened the door to see her gift for her, and was shocked. Eun Kang and Ha Ba Da did not see each other, and Eun Kang hid and saw her running and screaming, but did not find her. Eun Kang walks on the sidewalk and smiles in the end.


Let me tell you, I feel in the end scene that Cha always loves his ex-wife, and I hope they get back together. And I feel sorry for Ha Ba Da. I don't feel sorry for Eun Kang and Eun San; they are so arrogant and destroy someone's family.

I know Cha and Eun Kang have never been together and keep a distance from each other. Han Ba Da and Cha always keep in touch with each other because of their daughter's life. I feel vibes that they are going to get back together. I am pretty sure that Cha is disowned by his family and learned a lesson that he actually lost a loyal wife.


Damn it. I WISH The writers would add episode or vol 21 at the final for Eun Kang and Eun san will find men who cheat on them, to think about what they have done in the past. and Han Ba Da and Cha getting back together and having more children together. BUT COME ON.... In the ending episode, 20 is pathetic and sad.

Balloons For The Circus

The drama kept teasing us endlessly to what might have happened in Italy but it never revealed it. Sure, you can make some obvious assumptions but that's not as satisfying especially with the constant teasing. Makjang shows are designed to push your buttons through what's obvious from the observer perspective and this drama does exactly that but also eases the pain by making every character to have an unadjust trait or 10, including all of the leads. By doing this, it also makes it easier for the viewers to go softer on some of the wrong doings. You end up watching it to see how the car crash will end. In this case, a lot of fast and big changes happened in the last 40 minutes despite the drama having all the time in the world to approach its resolution more gracefully. Although it the drama was somewhat alright, but the harsh shift in the last 4 episodes made it really bad and unbearable. The main confrontation of the involved parties in the cafe was an example of that. The writer just wanted to amp it up as high as possible to squeeze the last dribbles of broadcast ratings. One thing I didn't like is how the drama forced every character to be connected to one another, it pushed the improbability of interconnected stories a bit too hard that it became ridiculous even for a makjang drama. If I had to pick one thing that irked me the most, it's how Da Ba's mother react differently between her daughter and Eun Gang on the suspicions of potential infidelity despite her daughter is the one doing it 10 folds harder in front of her face. A true bruh moment right there. Looking into the writer's previous projects, she's consistently decent except for a few outliers and this drama was part of these outliers.

Red Balloon is technically the “Parasite” drama version

Red Balloon is the “Parasite” drama version. This one sentence can give you a whole idea of what would be unfolded throughout the series. It started off with a typical loyal friendship between Han Ba-da and Jo Eun-Kang. 20 years of friendship between two different worlds. What a journey.

While Ba-da has a successful life with a perfect husband and a daughter to be proud of, Eun-Kang is still struggling to find a good match for her. Apparently, she’s dating Kwon Tae-Ki, a young man who has been living off her while ignoring her existence. I almost dropped this drama in the earlier episodes because I can’t stand Eun-Kang’s ignorance, especially about her boyfriend.

I honestly can’t stand stupid main leads. It is such a turn-off. I mean, yes, we can be desperate to get married. Since Eun-Kang is already 37, I understand her desperation, but to allow someone to take advantage of you to that extent. I’m just baffled. (While I hope no one out there is as stupid as Eun-Kang when in a relationship). Please don’t let men manipulate your life.

Just when I thought Eun-Kang’s sister, Jo Eun-San is the most sensible one in the family, she proved me wrong again when she started seducing a married man. Her intention may be right but her method is wrong when she technically throws herself at the man.

Both Jo and Go's families are a complete mess, entangled in complicated and endless scandals. Personally, I think the root of the problem is the Lonely Grandpa. He is so overprotective of his family, controlling everyone in the house, including his son-in-law, Ji Nam-Cheol.

As the plot thickens with a few misunderstandings here and there, leading Ba-da and Eun-Kang to misunderstand each other until Eun-Kang resorts to betraying her own friend. I think the real drama begins in episode 15.

Some good values you can learn from this drama are; Eun-Kang’s family, no matter how worse the situation they get themselves into, they remain strong together as a family, and Han Ba-da’s forgiving nature. Despite what Eun-Kang did to her, she’s still being rational, thinking about the good deeds Eun-Kang had done to help her over the past 20 years.

Ending with ‘friendship’ value wins, with an open ending or maybe hinting for the second season, which I hope nope.

Отличный фильм! Провокационный и неоднозначный. Есть над чем посмеяться и поплакать. Игра актёров замечательная. Сюжет интригует! Смотрится с интересом и удовольствием. Всем любителям психологии отношений рекомендую! Именно ,то что и ожидала. Повседневность на грани фола ! Люди подведенные к черте ,безответностью чувств ,бессмысленностью существования и приложенных усилий что-то изменить, одиночеством в семье и в толпе , и когда уже отчаялись ждать жизнь преподносит сюрпризы, как глоток свежего воздуха и лучик света в темном царстве ! Но рушится привычный уклад жизни и очень интересно, какой путь выберут герои. Ли Сон Дже -прекрасен ,настолько глубокий и характерный образ у него получился -впрочем как всегда! Потрясла работа всех без исключения актеров , но то и понятно ,имея такой живой сценарий с настоящими чувствами и эмоциями, мне кажется , им самим было очень увлекательно проживать такую наполненную жизнь героев. А ещё, очень вдохновил финал , он наглядно показал ,что то что произошло с героями -было неизбежностью. Лед в любом случае вскрылся бы весной. Сенсуалистам и тем , кому нравятся эмоциональные головоломки рекомендую к просмотру! Но будьте готовы к эмоциональным захватывающим дух американским горкам и разворотам сюжета на 180 градусов. Музыка фантастическая , ласкает слух и душу. И операторская работа очень вдохновила и является украшением фильма.
