a really fun, feel-good drama
Twinkling Watermelon was nothing like I expected — its heartfelt in both writing and performance, and is an enjoyable story with a happy ending.Of course there are flaws, but none that completely overshadowed the story. Some things that I wanted more from were (1) the inconclusive way they handled Eun Yoo’s anxiety and (2) somewhat of a lack of acknowledgment that what they went through is what made them who they are in 2023, but these are rather minor things compared to what this drama brings.
As far as I know, the people behind the production are able-bodied, but this was a positive, warm, and non-exploitative representation for people with disabilities. The show treated each character with fairness and didn’t dish out pity or over-emphasize what they lacked.
There’s also something so warm and tender about the the whole concept of the drama, which is the guilt and love we feel towards our parents, and the outpouring of empathy, grief, and protectiveness we feel when we realize they were once our age too. I love this concept. Though it’s more fairy tale than science fiction, it’s healing and speaks to how much we wish we could could’ve protected our parents once we’ve seen them as human beings.
Great cast, fun writing, and good music!

A MUST WATCH
i recommend this drama to those that enjoy time traveling kdramas. this drama really delivered every part of it that it had. i enjoyed it from the first episode until to the last one. the OST it’s so good and the chemistry between the leads it’s so adorable, it makes me want to fall in love too. i laughed, cried, smiled, giggled and was angry. it was all emotions being collided. i won’t spoil it for you because i want you to experience the emotions that i had to experience because that’s how the drama was good to me, but i don’t know about you.Was this review helpful to you?

My standard have been raised now my drama life is ruined
if I had to summarise this series in one word it would be either perfect or a masterpiece I can put it with boys over flowers and say it is better…it was based around music so I loved it anyways… the acting… the casting and even the plot and story were amazing I mean they could do a little bit more with the step mother fiasco but all is well that ends well and the ending was satisfying
many things still remained unexplained because of the abrupt end but the whole story had a grip
it was fast paced and had no nonsense in it I must say they sped up the ending a little but common not everything can be perfect but it is a masterpiece
I must say it is the first series after love between fairy and demon that made me think wowww I am in love.
I can bet 10yrs of my life that it is the best series of 2022 and 2023 because I didn’t find anything this good in these 2 years
Thank you so much for making such an addicting and amazing series
You have successfully ruined my karana life by raising my standard

Amazing storytelling, i sobbed
The whole thing was so heartwarming and beautiful. It was aggressive when needed and extremely realistic in every way except for the magic time-traveling part. Everyone's lives, experiences, and feelings were explained and well represented, and I felt that nobody was left behind. The four main actors did an amazing job; they're so good. I loved that they were completely different and unique in their own way. The way it's written! Omg, I loved that we could see the parents in many different scenarios: how they were there for each other when things were tough in adulthood, how they met and fell in love, and how they continued to love each other when their lives were better financially and socially in the end. We don't usually get to see these many dimensions in a couple's relationships in series. I loved seeing them grow up together. The only thing is that I wish the ending was a bit longer, and we could see how On Eun Yu's life changed too, and how her and Eun Gyeol's relationship was now that they got back, her dynamic with his family, and all.Was this review helpful to you?

top kdrama of this year!!!
I loved everything about it. This 2023 gem quickly catapulted itself to the top of my kdrama favorites, and trust me, it's worth watching! The characters are the heart and soul of the show. Eun Gyeol's earnestness and unwavering love for his family will make you root for him, while his teenage father, Yi Chan, offers a charmingly clueless counterpoint. The supporting cast is equally captivating, from the enigmatic bandmates to the sassy best friend. The series effortlessly portrays the power of love in its many forms – filial, romantic, and platonic, it celebrates family bonds, second chances, and the pursuit of dreams, all wrapped in a heartwarming glow. Whether it's a tender moment between parent and child or a tearful scene of first love, the show tugs at your heartstrings without resorting to a full melodrama. And also the soundtrack is a vibrant pop-rock symphony that perfectly complements the on-screen action. Each song feels organic to the story, adding layers of emotion and energy to every scene. Was this review helpful to you?

A drama to discover love
I'm still trying to process everything I felt watching this drama. Despite seeing everyone saying that it was one of the best or the best they had ever seen, all I could think was "It's not possible, it seems so boring", but I was wrong, my friends. I don't think I've ever seen a love story as beautiful as this one, and by love, I don't just mean romantic love, it's love in all its layers, the love of friendship, family, human relationships, all of this in a way so beautiful and sentimental, that it makes anyone watching it have a silly smile on their face.I wish I could talk specifically about each character, as they all captivated me greatly, but so this review doesn't get too long, I would like to highlight the character of Eun Gyeol, a boy with so much love in him, who did everything to make his parents happy, making their love story even more beautiful, showing such great affection for everyone and consequently captivating the entire audience that watched the drama, and leaving us sighing in their scenes with Choi Se-Kyung, which were very cute.
In addition to them, I want to separate part of this review to talk about the couple Ha Yi-Chan and Yoon Chung-A, simply one of the most beautiful couples I've ever had the pleasure of watching, their entire dynamic was surrounded by small gestures of affection, making love between them grew, but at the moment of the declaration in sign language, that's when my heart fell deeply in love with this couple, who honestly won't leave my thoughts anytime soon.
I would like everyone to have the pleasure of watching this drama and feeling love in its purest form, like all of us who fell in love with "Twinkling Watermelon".

The best drama. The cast and Characters, especially , Yoon Cheong Ah and Ha Yi Chan ❤️. Their Chemistry, was the couple of the year. But I need the music to be an album, because it was OFFFF the Charts. Every song they played as a band ( Watermelon Sugar) was addicting. I was already hooked when I saw the trailer. I normally wait for all episode to drop, but I could not wait. Every episode that aired I Wanted more. I was in Joy when when Ha Eun Gyeol (the son), Ha Yi Chan (the dad) and Yoon Cheong Ah (the mom). Their chemistry was GOLD, but changing his dads faith for going deaf, was emotional. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd episode had me LOL. Ha Eun Gyeol was surprised to see his dad interested in music and he did not know his dad and his mom knew each other from the past, not from when Ha Yi Chan was learning sign language. The more I get to the story, the more I end up spoiling. THIS is my first review. MY rating: 10/10 and even more. Was this review helpful to you?

THE BEST KDRAMA OF 2023
I rarely watch ongoing shows but this drama made me change my ways .each week has been amazing watching this .the acting is just top notch .I discovered 2 amazing actors through this drama and I'm so grateful for it. Choi Hyun wook and Shin eun so,both brilliant actors who brought so much depth and to their characters .ha yi Chan and Cheong ha will be an iconic characters in kdrama history .just like reply 1988 this drama will become a cult classic .
The chemistry between Ha yi Chan and Cheong ha was off the charts I've never seen such chemistry between the leads since reply 1988's deok sun and Jung hwan.
The story is exciting and attention grabbing .the last episode did wreck me emotionally in the beginning but the ending was just so beautiful.im so jealous of those who get to binge this bcoz watching this as an ongoing drama was torture bcoz it was so good and we couldn't wait one week for the next episode.
When I end this drama I can truly say that Ha yi Chan has captured my heart .And I'm so happy I decided to watch this drama

Perfect Youth/Family Kdrama with lots of story to tell
Not only have I binge-watched all 16 episodes in two days, but I also cried my eyes and laughed my heart out. Though it is true, that this drama does contain some minor plotholes and a few questions at the end, I think its strength definitely lies in its heart and story it's trying to tell. Honestly, I think that for a "heartful" and "youthful" drama it did an excellent job at finishing it up and there were way more connections than I expected. It's the kind of drama you want to experience once again right after you finish. It tells a story about family, friends, life's hardships, and most importantly in my opinion: Gratitude.I loved seeing Eun Gyeol and Lee Chan chemistry, especially how Eun Gyeol kind of took on the "father"-role when he traveled back to 1995. Not only that, but the whole friendship with Ma Joo and the other band members was really heartwarming (especially after we come back to 2023 and they were still friends omg).
Some might say they had problems with the pacing, but I actually enjoyed how some things unfolded in the latter half (for example Cheon Ah's plot with her family). I was worried about the story, because at some point it seemed very messy, because no matter what nothing seemed to be working out, but somehow it did and it was satisfying enough for me at least.
Honestly, even though Lee Chan lost his hearing in the end, the story ended a lot more positively than I thought it would. The fact that Eun Gyeol's whole childhood and family situation changed, I wasn't expecting that kind of ending. But I appreciate it a lot, that they ended the story on such a bright note (even though I wished it ended with his family and friends and not with a kiss with Eun Yu).
So, about her! I wasn't really expecting another time traveler, that was cool imo (I haven't watched many time travel dramas, and those that I watched never included more than one time traveler). I kind of wished they had found out about each other a bit earlier though, and was I the only one that thought, that their romantic chemistry dropped a lot after they found out? Like, the chemistry was great before, but it just suddenly stagnated and they seemed more like friends after they found out (which was weird, but I thought they'd be happy, since it meant they'd be together in 2023 as well).
Other than that, I loved Cheon Ah and Lee Chan's love story (too freaking cute) and Lee Chan's grandmother! They also did a great job of highlighting the disabled part of the story and raising awareness.
All in all, I loved it so much! It made me reminisce about the youth that I never had (I feel like in asian schools it's totally different). It was cute, heartwarming, sad and fulfilling! A perfect youth kdrama that I'd recommend to everyone! I swear, you won't regret it!

Check it out if you haven't yet!
A really good kdrama that portrays multiple feelings such as sadness, happiness but also comedy. With strong friendship and romance and good plot twist. I especially liked the chemistry/dynamics between the two male leads!I really liked this one even though I'm more of the action and thriller type of kdrama lover, but this was so wholesome and has a really good cast and story and I'm so glad I checked it out! Once you start watching you can't stop, I definitely recommend it!
I didn't expect the ending but it was good
