a disappointing outcome of a highly anticipated drama
the drama had a pretty promising start but after only 2 episode the drama started going downhill. there are 3 timeskip in this drama and two of them (5+5)10 years ) happened in only 4 episode.which is the first thing that makes the viewers dissatisfied as everything in the show was happening without proper explanations...the motivation behind the action of the main leads are unclear.characters: inha was problematic from epi 1 but to gain public sympathy the writers made him act cringe in ep(2 ,3,4)and when his villain arch started he turned into a vanilla villain who can't do anything right. it's almost as if he is useless without Tae Ho.
Tae ho's character was most disappointing as i had most expectations from his character.
Hae Won: I don't wanna talk about her. her character is useless. K-drama writers should stop including female characters as just showpiece in their shows in 2024 now. Kang song joo: liked this dude from epi 1. he almost had overthrown his own father.. happy that he found peace in himself.
favorite characters: the prosecutor and the hacker.
Acting: Everyone gave their best(except Hong Suzu=Na Hye Won)but because the script is bad sometimes the acting seems dull or over acting.
it's almost impossible to root for any of the main leads not because they are morally gray but because the characters are almost pathetic, unemotional, pretentious and not pitiful at all when they pretend that they are.
the writing sucks and it lacks cohesion.everything is happening just for the sake of happening.the way Tae ho solved the murder mystery reminds me the drama Memorist. i was having Deja Vu.
anyway the script is old and it seems the drama was written as a 16 episodes drama but they shorten it to 12epi that's why there's so many time jump and everything is so rushed and they introduced new characters in the end episodes as if they have connections with other already established characters but it is never shown.
overall, enjoyed the two male leads and their visuals.

An empty shell of a series
The reasons this even gets a 4 are: a good cast, nice cinematography, a promising start to the series, and characters with potential. But otherwise, The Impossible Heir has some of the most baffling writing I've ever seen. The writer had visions of a grand revenge drama without the ability to pull it off.
This script reads like someone wrote a 30-episode arc but was suddenly given only 10 minutes under duress to cut it down to 12 episodes.
Every aspect of the show is shallow, non-committal, disjointed and illogical. You'll give yourself a headache trying to make sense of it all.
There are scenes that go nowhere. There are conversations that serve no purpose. The writer apparently never learned the art of foreshadowing.
The leads have little backstory and even less discernable motivation. What we can glean about them is often contradictory. Their confusing and unrealistic actions cause even the main protagonist to become unlikeable.
As for the central plot - what starts off as a found family conglomerate revenge sharply veers off course in the middle, becoming something much more dark and unenjoyable.
I can promise you that anything you'd hope to get out of watching this, you can find it done better elsewhere.

More like the Impossible Watch ?
WHY IS THERE ALWAYS AN ANNOYING ASS GIRL IN THE MIDDLE BRO 💀 TAEHO AND INHA WERE GOING SO GREAT UNTIL THAT BTCIH STEPPED IN I HATE HER SO MUCH WHAT IS WRONF WITH HER 💀💀💀 I hope they do a plot twist and someone hits her with a car because Taeho should just be with Huiju... She is so rude and inconsiderate and she's annoying the plot would be so much better without her 💀 The actress is so stiff and it honestly gives stale bread... It's difficult but it's worth
The expectations of this drama were very high and among many audiences. Unfortunately it's not a drama for everyone. It's not a simple drama. The editing is perhaps the biggest problem: there are too many time jumps and flashbacks to make it easy to understand.
At first you're drawn into the fake bromance between the two MLs.
Tae Oh seems cold and calculating, In Ha is nice but problematic and Hye Won look as though butter wouldn’t melt in one’s moutht.
Gradually we discover various aspects of Tae Oh, who turns out to be tender towards HW who reminds him of his childhood and his abused mother, naive and grateful for IH's friendship.
The development of the relationship between the president and TO is very beautiful: Tae Oh begins to be noticed as an instrument and insinuating into the president the idea of better management of KangOh (he clearly indicates this in the first speech he writes at the presentation of the center). The president's attraction/need continues and develops to the detriment of the relationship with his three sons, who all suffer from an inferiority complex and are (rightly) afraid of the president's growing interest in TO.
They (chairman and TO) are among the few characters (with the Hacker, the Boss, Seong Ju and Hee Joo) who have positive development.
The main actors (and I'm sorry, but HW doesn't fall into this category, because she has only 5 minutes of footage per episode) are a spectacle!
Lee Jae Wook dressed in a business outfit with rolled up sleeves is a sight that alone is worth the effort of following the drama.
He is very good at managing his facial expressions: a complete change of direction compared to the Jang Uk of alchemy of Souls. The moment he lets some feelings shine through, it's easy to become attached to his character.
There are a lot of cuts where he holds the scene alone, with the support of his voice.
Jun Young is also very captivating, especially when he plays the positive parts, in my opinion he is too excessive in showing his psycho side.
The conclusion is fair and positive: Tae Oh wins, maintaining legality (unlike In Ha) and establishes an excellent relationship with Seong Ju.
The last scene with Hye Won suggests that the fleeting relationship is now over for both of them, while the relationship with Hee Joo is open: she can be a little sister or something more with the approval of the president and her brother!
I advise? Absolutely yes!

?
we expected a bloody war of greed , lust and power hunger. We wanted smart schemes, unexpected alliances, and plot twists. We wanted a neat and clear character development process, where each one's alter ego surfaces and surprise us.But what we got was simply bland.
Like i said in a comment before, this better be the ground work for a more exciting second season .

A COMPLETE WASTE.
THE FEMALE LEAD DESTROYED THE WHOLE DRAMA. It is so annoying to watch her. She literally makes me mad, whereas the other FL I'm happy to see her. They went so wrong with this killing and revenge stuff. Poor writing. Only acting by some character(male lead) was good. But dude why the hell will you run after that women whose Only there for money and not the girl who likes and is willingto support you. So stupid. Either way 1/10 . I don't even know what to write anymore.

Impossible Debt
If there's anything worse than this show, it's the entirety of what's going on. I thought I was watching some Tarantino's concept for the movie. The only main person that is worth the watch is the SFL. This whole show is hilariously bad. The fact that this is supposed to be a top tier show and it turns to doodoo over romance. Like why? We don't need this terrible romance. Just skip that part and just go to the revenge since it would have been more worth it. They literally had everything going until they made FL start a triangle. At this point, if it's going to be this bad, just go full bad and at least it'll worth to watch. Like if they went penthouse mode or world of the married mode, I'll be down. Was this review helpful to you?
Think twice before dropping
After watching 8ep of it, for those beginner i will urge of you to complete the series, few ep in the beginning may seems to be little disappointing but the story as a whole is full of surprises and thriller. It also explain why the FL enters into the Triangle sort of thing etc.. Rest is your choice 👌Was this review helpful to you?

Trolled by a Drama
*****SPOILER ALERT WITHIN****** DO NOT READ IF YOU GET UPSET BY SPOILERS*******We all literally got trolled. What could have been one of the best series of 2024 is one of the absolute worst KDramas EVER!.
*Mostly Excellent Cast - Check; *Excellent Story Idea - Check; *Excellent Setting - Check
So what the hell went wrong? EVERYTHING!! Script, editing, directing, casting of FL.
This series is not even so bad it's good it's just bad. The FL being a newbie and terrible actress is not the reason the series fails either despite comments to the contrary. The series fails b/c the writing and directing is terrible. The motivations of the ML make no sense. There is a big WHY as to all of it. The 2ML we at least get that b/c he's the illegitimate son of the Chairman he just wanted to be acknowledged by him and the family. His motivations make a lot of sense. Then the show ends with *******SPOILER ALERT*******everyone getting everything they want except In ha. RIDICULOUS!!!
They wanted us to believe that Taeoh, In Ha and Hye Won were these great friends when we never really saw that. The show went from 10 years later to 5 years later with no supposition in between. No way for the audience to remotely believe they even liked each other besides the fact they were in scenes together that told us. No character development at all. No one to really root for b/c it was all disjointed.

I’M REALLY TRYING HERE
I am not someone who just drops a drama…I had so much hope at first but it gets worse with every episode. NONE of the main characters make decisions that make sense. I see people talking about FL a lot. she’s…okay but her character as a whole is unnecessary. Two male leads are very idiotic when it comes to having common sense. The ONLY saving grace for this show is the little sister(forgot her name)…overall, it’s just a bad show that could’ve been amazing but I’ll try to keep watching. I really wish it was better. Was this review helpful to you?
surprised by the reviews here...
i'm very surprised by the reviews this show got. Of course is not for everyone, the show takes its time to get where it wants. People who wants action by the first or even third episode will not like it and find it very boring (and that's ok). I would recommend people to pay more attention to what is happening in the show, a lot of details is being explained throughout it but it really needs to pay attention. For the characters, some people complain that Taeoh becomes the good one, while Inha the bad one. Life is not that simple lol. The show is quite clear that none of the main characters are one thing or another, since the second episode it shows that the three of them are moved by their own greedy. Inha doesn't do things out of blue, he was always a emotional person, that's why he start to like Taeoh from the beginning and falls in love for Hye-won with just few interactions. He is quite a obsessive person that is doing things without thinking from the start.
Hye-won, I agree, could have much more impact in the show. Her development gets lose every time something happens with Taeoh and Inha. She is a good character and should have more time for us to see her plans.
(I won't even talk about people saying that is bad Hye-won and Taeoh have kissed a day before the marriage, of course is not right to do, but yeah people are human and make mistakes - this doesn't imply that you should kill someone and put the blame into your ex-friend)
A lot of dramas struggle when doing the Succession plot and I won't say that Impossible Heir does it the best, but for sure it makes much more sense than what has been done in much others.
Recomend people to give it a try until the episode 8, when I think it really makes everything more interesting and, since it only has 12 episodes, I don't think one would be wasting much time doing so.

A drama with big dialogues and a big nothing.
Before I can write my review, I want to say main FL role is taken up by an actor who can't act and it is evident by many other reviews here. So I am not going to focus on that as plenty of people have already spoken regarding her acting and her role so much. First things first, FL wasn't the actual problem why this drama is the worst I seen in 2024. The whole storyline and every character development (including both ML's) is the main problem including the directing style, pacing, as well as the camera work. The story starts of as a promising story about two young boys despite not seeing eye to eye with each other, get together to achieve an ambition. One is an illegitimate son and other is a son born to a poor family whose father is a murderer (which was framed by ML in order to make sure his dad rots in jail to avoid physical abuse and protect his mom.)
Now before I continue let's remember the fact this drama is only 12 episodes long and has at most 53 to 55 minutes of airtime in Disney.
Right off the bat for a 12 episode drama they unnecessarily introduced ML's father, aka Tae oh father as someone who is trying to get back to his son for revenge for framing him of murder. You have 12 episodes, where both ML want to climb the ladder. Tae oh will support Inha to become the chairman of Kang oh group despite being a illegitimate heir and Tae oh being the intelligent one wants to ensure Inha becomes chairman so he can climb a social ladder to a height where it is impossible for a poor person to reach. Sounds really a great drama right???
Now this was the premise established, which means both ML's need to beat current chairman, his two other sons who are legitimate heirs. The chairman wife and other family members. You basically have this many enemies to beat in order for both ML's to make their goal possible in only a 12 episode drama. A bit too many enemies to beat for a 12 episodes drama, on top this after 6th episode they added one more big villain.
The drama direction style introduced fast time skips which includes high school phase, college phase, employee phase, succession phase, where the story doesn't give you the chance to feel any kind of attachment to any character as a viewer as it so fast and abrupt and so many things are happening at once. Romance, succession , business plans, first crushes, politics etc. You also don't find yourself rooting for both ML's success as they are both someone who wants to crush the current owners to climb the top. So it was basically a dog eat dog world situations, so none of the characters aren't really good people, but are in morally grey area except for 2 or 3 who crossed towards red. On top of this heavy storyline, writer introduces main FL who too wants Kang oh group. But why Kang oh group??? As for Inha he is a part of family although illegitimate, as for Tae ha, he met Inha in high school, got to know his situation and decided to climb the ladder with him. Viewers thought fine FL might be very clever who will use tactics to gain Kang oh group all for herself by using two ML's, but instead she is nothing but a gold digger portrayed by an actress who can't even act.
The current chairman who both ML's want to beat is also a poorly written character. All he does is make threats that aren't even clever. He does things that only fills the screen time but nothing actually happens through his role at all. He is just there for MLs to beat him, like in a chess where the most useless piece is the king who only moves one step and doesn't really do anything significant, his role is like that.
The whole writing of this drama sucks, really really bad. The drama uses big dialogues, suddenly creates business scenarios in ML's favor, that don't fit the style of characters that were initially introduced. It just uses big big dialogues and a story that is trying to make sense, but if you actually try to understand it in a logical way, this is all nothing but one big fluff. Like it is making sense but if you actually think, none of it makes sense. For example, let's say you want to write a scenario where a character has to die, so writer decides to write an accident scene for that character. It makes sense and we can accept the character death. But if you start to think why should an accident actually happen to this character, what is the purpose of killing this character off, will it make any sense to the actual story, does it contribute to anything, is it consistent with the storyline etc. If you think in those lines, this drama as I said seems something but is actually nothing.
Most viewers are tired of all main leads of this drama, some of them like support FL, only because she is the only one that is normally written. It's not like she is some awesome role, but after every character is a disaster, a normal role also appears to be great plus the actress choi hee jin who plays that role acts really well (good acting skills btw) compared to main FL actress who can't act. Overall this drama is just a waste of time for me. It is like a bad car crash that I can't look away.
