Forgettable BL with a HE

- Genre –
Entertainment Industry/Romance/TV Star/BL

- Brief Synopsis –
Protagonist A is a die-hard fan of B and dreams of meeting him. One day, he secures an internship on B’s set and ends up given the duty of taking care of B. As they start spending more time with each other, B start falling for A and they end up in a secret relationship. The rest of the episodes focuses on the development of their relationship. Towards the end, their relationship is temporarily broken when A finds out B has done an intimate scene with another actor without telling him. The shows ends with them getting together and A leaving his fan persona behind to properly become B’s lover.

- Plot and Storyline –
This plot does not contain any plot twists that would make the story memorable in any way. The pacing is notably swift, particularly in the development of the romance, which can feel abrupt and lacks a gradual buildup. While the story introduces elements of angst, the emotional impact is diminished, primarily because the source of conflict revolves around one of the main characters doing an intimate scene with another actor without the knowledge of their partner. As a viewer, the lack of investment in this particular couple undermines the potency of the angst, failing to evoke a meaningful response. All in all, it's a good story but badly executed.

- Character Development –
The only development is that both characters learn to become more mature over time.

- Acting -
The overall sweetness of the relationship between the main characters is apparent, but the absence of a gradual buildup makes their coming together feel somewhat plain. The kisses and small touches, while present, lack a significant impact due to this rushed development. Despite all that, the actors do a good job in building chemistry. Another thing to note is that in this show, the actors offer a more mature portrayal of intimate scenes, pushing the boundaries by depicting sexual content to the extent permissible without revealing everything.

However, the acting from supporting characters occasionally falls into the realm of exaggeration, making it challenging for the audience to fully engage. Furthermore, the portrayal of acting within the fictional show in the series is deemed subpar, to the extent that skipping those scenes becomes a necessity.

- Production Quality -
Decent production quality with somewhat realistic sets and props.

- Writing and Dialogue -
Writing can sometimes be a little cringey.

- Pacing -
Pacing is good.

- Themes and Message –
In order to have a long-lasting relationship with your idol, you need to stop looking at him as your idol but as a person.

- Audience Appeal -
Anyone who likes the concept of idol dating a fan will probably like it. But it should be noted that A’s personality can be a little too childish which is a turnoff for some.

- Standout Moments -
The onsen scene really stood out to me because I have never seen an intimate scene so sexual. This scene was leaning closer to porn rather than what we typically see in BL.

- Criticisms -
x A's character is way too childish, to the point it's almost a little cringey at times.
x Acting from other characters can sometimes get way too exagerrated. The writing also suffers the same problem, which takes away realism.
x Both A and B's characters aren't very likable for me so rooting for them and getting invested in their relationship is a little difficult.

- Conclusion -
I won’t be rewatching this show but I will be revisiting the onsen scene…probably.

cheesy

ok, was this a cheesy show 100% it was. Did I absolutely love it and become invested in it, also 100%.
I started watching this as a comedic break from everything else. I knew going into it, that it was cringe worthy and it didn't disappoint but I got hooked and consumed it quickly. the second last episode had me in tears, I laughed so much throughout this series and also cringed aswell. I have to say though I am happy that I watched it.

I placed a spoiler alert at the end of this review.

Overall, this series was ok. I like the story concept, but it was not executed very well.

The positive: The series does have many cute/sweet moments. I enjoyed the show within the show aspect by seeing behind the scenes of the fake lakorn (Prince of Love). I also thought the opening scene in the first episode was very smart. It was nice how supportive Mueng and Mrs. Wan was with Ashi. I also like how Ashi and Punn’s relationship progressed. It also had a great theme song.

The negative: The main problem is the script was not the greatest. It is surprisingly bland considering the multiple conflict scenarios that it had. I also need more than a bunch of random soft porn scenes incorporated into a series to make it interesting. I was not a fan of how the character Punn was portrayed. This character appeared very childlike for someone that is about to graduate college. It was not too bad, but it did get annoying at times. I’m going out on a limb and say this is not the actor’s fault. I feel this was either how the character was written, how the actor was told to play him, or a combination of both. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t like the secondary couple storyline. It started off interesting, but took a wrong turn in episode 6 for me. After this, I was not fully invested in their storyline.

The in-between: It has a great cast. I give them credit for doing a great job considering the weak script that they were given. I originally did not like the fighting mangers aspect, but it started to make sense as the series continued. Although it became over the top at times, it at least created some interest. As for the main couple storyline, it was not fully developed in some areas. They also get a very weak story conflict in the last two episodes. There is a lot of misuse of screen time and filler scenes which I skipped. The ending of the whole series was ok, but at least it was a happy one.

Random Notes:

Overall, the series was not horrible and had enough stuff to maintain my attention. I just don’t see myself ever wanting to rewatching it.

Punn’s bedroom is the same one used for Jaya’s bedroom in the series 55:15 Never Too Late.

******Spoiler Alert******

It would have been better if they just kept the scheming manager scenario up to the end instead of introducing the half-baked story conflict for the main leads in episode 11. It was ridiculously weak and made no sense. The resolution, although happy, was just as weak.

Punn and Ashi’s relationship progressed at a nice pace. Their dating relationship did not happen too quickly or too long. However, we don’t get a lot of detail with their backstory. We learn from a few random flashback that they knew each other in high school, but we received no real details about it.

My main criticism with the secondary couple is what happened in Episode 6. Muang slept with Naming knowing that Naming was very drunk. For me, this was not ok. Muang was sober and knew what he was doing. At least Naming was rightfully pissed off and told Muang that he took advantage of him. Another problem is this had a very weak resolution which leads to them dating out of nowhere.

only watch if you love JaFirst

For me this wasn't the best story to showcase JaFirst potential. They are such talented actors bit this story was just kinda flat.Given that this is probably their last casting together I really was expecting to get my mind blown but I got disappointed instead.I had to take a break in the middle just to come back and watch it with a new perspective to get the hang of it cause the story was kind of all over the place.Honestly the only reason I finished is because I love JaFirst and the OSTs were quite good.As for the rewatch value I don't see that happening, I'll just watch DSN whenever I miss JaFirst

It was okay I guess?

Honestly, this was a long watch, I kept getting bored.
It was very sweet and JaFirst have amazing chemistry, as do the two who played the side couple.
But it was just very second hand embarrassment worthy - Pun was scarily obsessive over the actor and also very childish, the last few episodes were tough as it was just him sulking while Ashi was trying his hardest to apologise (I counted at least 3 or 4 attempts).
It was hard watching Ja in this role, in DSN he was brilliant and playing a caring mature character really suits him, so him playing a younger, socially awkward character was a bit hard to watch and he couldn't show much of his skill set. It was also a bit strange that he acted like that the whole time EXCEPT in the NC scenes - his awkwardness suddenly left and he acted like he did in DSN. First was brilliant in his role of Ashi though. He was so good at showing his confusion, sadness, love etc. You can really see the chemistry that he has with Ja and made me really like Ashi as a character.
The rest of the time the villains were annoying and unrealistic- the entire show was really about the feud between the two agents, and Title was just creepy - the whole thing with Ban was never really addressed either it had a big build up then 'oh yeah he's been arrested' and never mentioned again.
Despite the shifty start (Muang was slightly obsessive after the one night stand) and dubious consent for drunken night no.2, Muang and Ning honestly kept me watching, they were cute, the mature scenes were very well acted and it was quite a realistic relationship.
All in all, it wasn't awful? But the story was pretty boring and lots of characters were annoying. I just watched it for the side couple and JaFirst tbh.

Great NC scenes

As most of u already states the series is BAD. It is the worst I watched? No. But it is along with the worst.
Disclaimer: I'll use the actors name instead of the characters.
Ja is infantilazed. Yes, He is younger than First. They never state how much bur lets say 2 or 3 Years. It is not that much for the way he acted. They want him cute... I understand but it was not necessary.
First it's a cold blooded guy who fall for the goof one. But he never had anything but smiles for Ja and suddenly he loves Ja. Weird.
We have math problems. They met l, according to Ja 9 years ago but he is 20, that means they met when he was 11. Ehm doesn't make sense.
The plot could be way way better. The writing is bad. The acting is OK.
The second couple is HOT AF. Their NC scenes are Fire. Their plot it is a little bit better but it is not as good as writing as it should be.
The chemistry between JaFirst it's barely there. U can see they have good chemistry cuz the NC scenes are amazing. Butnin the acting sometimes u think u will feel it but then u don't.
To shorten in Watch the NC scenes... ARE worth this nightmare? Maybe not but they are so good and SO SO SO SOOOOOO realistic. Like u can belive they are having sex. With all the perks and noises of people having sex. It is not worshiping the other and just taking off shirts.
It is overall a 4.5. And 3 points of that are the NC scenes.
It is like a teenager with no experience writing, wrote the plot for Wattpad and then a porn writer wrote the NC scenes.

Not SuperStar :'(

Watched this drama only because it has JaFirst in the cast. But it was a big disappointment.
The plot may seem interesting, Punn likes a famous actor, Achi, and becomes an intern working in the same filming set...
At first it wasn't that bad, but as the story goes,
it started to get super cringey, and some characters were too melodramatic, exaggerated, even annoying. There are supporting characters that I couldn't bear with because of the cringe.
Not blaming the actors, cause I've seen them in other series, but the script wasn't good, it killed JaFirst chemistry with th

Wish it could’ve been more…

For this to be Ja and First last bl, I was kinda disappointed. I love them in don’t say no so I was excited for this bl when it first came out. I watched the first episode when it aired and was immediately disappointed. The acting was obviously good since it is Ja and First. But Ja’s character gave me so much second hand embarrassment with the way he was acting. It just was cringy, even after they got together. I liked First’s character, because we get to see him as a more mature character which is suitable. The story was very boring at first which is why it took me so long to finish it. It was ok but definitely not the best bl I have ever seen.

Alsooooo Ben was in it so immediately when I saw him, I was happy. I love Ben and to see him in this Bl was interesting (even though he was barely on screen)

I have dropped it after Episode 1, but people were praising the show, so I've decided to give it a chance. Actually, I did like the second couple, although their subplot wasn't explored at all. But everything about this show, it all was like a soap drama. And the romance between main leads was rushed. It made zero sense for Ashi to decide suddenly to spend his whole future with Pun, no matter how good Pun took care of him for the past month he got to know him, even if Pun he loved him for 9 years. How can you know you want to spend your life with someone when you just started dating literally a couple of days ago? And the way he suddenly made up his mind and they jumped right into NC scene made even less sense.
Besides, Pun's character gave off autistic vibes, with Ashi being his hyper fixation - at first I was looking forward to it, it would be so interesting if plot actually described him as an autistic character - but no, he was not on the spectrum, he was just acting like a teenager for no good reason. And besides, that sad melancholic soundtrack during each NC scene between main couples was so off-putting, like it didn't fit the mood and vibe at all. I think the cast was actually quite fine, and they did a good job with roles they were given, but the writing, the plot, it was so cliche and so expected. After Episode 7, I just kept skipping all episodes, and each time I paused on a scene from just a sentence from a dialogue, I could know what is happening and what is going to happen next. I even checked my assumptions, I literally read what happened in each episode, and I was right. Sprinkling in NC scenes doesn't make for a good BL show.

??BosstonKavin❤️

Honestly I watched this series solidly based off of BosstonKavin chemistry, which surprised me because I really wanted to like JaFirst, but this being their final series together the chemistry didn't hit for me...only in one scene where it was 🔥 but that's it.

Definitely recommend if you are a BosstonKavin fan.

Not as bad as some reviews suggests

I haven't written a review in awhile but felt most of the reviews were too critical and I would have misseda fun drama if I had read them before watching.

Its not the best story or deep plot but its a cute simple watch. I love First and did like him getting to play the aloof, mature role in this.

I thought the humorous over acting of the lakorn inside the drama was great. It was ridiculous and that was the whole point.

It did lack in character development, but I thought Ja and First chemistry was good and it was a completely unproblematic drama. No abuse, just characters trying to understand eachother.

Ja's character was a little annoying, but I think that was the way it was written, and again it was fun to see him fanboying and playing an immature character for a change.

I didnt hate the side couple though there purpose really was just NC17 scenes.

Overall it was meant to be a lite drama with Ja and First really doing well at switching roles. Obviously not the 'best drama ever' but not so lacking that it deserves all the negative reviews.

Without the top tier actors, this series would have flopped.

It always warms my heart when I can see Ja and First on screen. The juvenile, imbecilic role given to Ja is a testament of his professionalism. He played being servile very well — the rounded shoulders and ducked head were so unlike any of his other characters that I have seen. Also, I’ve never seen First in a role that’s so serious and reserved. Like the true professional, experienced actor he is, he seemed to work around the poor direction whenever he could.

The story idea was a good one, but the director’s execution not so much. Such a waste of top tier actors’ talent. I enjoyed following the secondary story of Muang and Ning. The supporting actors did a fantastic job of it. The bickering agency managers became annoying very quickly. I watched all the episodes, but I won’t re-watch it.
