Amazing and Beautifully well done
First of all I would like to say, The rating for this series makes absolutely no sense. So if you want to watch it, watch it. Don't pay attention to the rating cause it is utter garbage. This is one of my favorite series now and I am very picky and have high standard. Now, first of all the plot. It is simple amazing. It is fresh and very interesting. It is the end of the world and you end with your ex until the end, so what you gotta do? I love both Masumi and Ritsu's characters and I love that their character development throughout the series. I love how we got to see their relationship before it got messy. I love how Masumi hated Ritsu guts in the beginning and spoke out how he treated him and how he broke his trust and how Ritsu earned his trust back. I also especially love the sex scenes like OMG isn't that surprising since it is from the one that created pornographer but still, they didn't shy away at all. In fact it made me shy. The acting was amazing. Seto, Nakate and others did a splendid job. Especially Seto. I couldn't watch his previous BL drama since I can't handle cringe but boi can he act. The he expresses grief, anger and happiness just make my mouth drop. Especially this one scene where he reminisces about his past and realized how he wasted it, the expression of regret and also happiness since he have the love his life near him and he wants to enjoy the present was just perfect. The music was also so great. I would be rewatching ten thousand times until I get a second season since I can't say goodbye yet. Definitely a must watch. Was this review helpful to you?
A hidden gem.
I am so in love with this series. What an emotional rollercoaster ride. I wasn’t expecting to be so invested in this, I literally cannot stop thinking about it.Everything to the plot to the characters and their backstories is so heartbreaking and emotional. In any other situation, I would’ve hated Ritsu, and all the characters have their flaws but the context and purpose of the show really makes you see them in a different way. The message this show presents is one of deep meaning, and it really tore me apart. I am also such a sucker for found family, and this one was one of the cutest I’ve ever seen.
I cannot recommend this enough.

My Thoughts on End Of the World With You:
Neither of the main characters are likeable. Ritsu is the worst but Matsumi is not much better. They are unlikeable in different ways. Ritsu is an awful person. He is the f*ck-boyest of all f*ck boys. Usually you either like a character, like to hate them or they are at least relatable. Neither of the characters are any of these things. They are just awful - to the point where you don’t care what happens to them. I’m not invested in anything they do, any hurt they feel or any hurt they do to others. This wouldn’t be a problem if the show didn’t keep trying to make you root for them. Nothing had the emotional impact needed. The only character I was rooting for was the meteor. And the fact that ‘that’ didn’t happen only makes this show that much worse. It’s got a lot of very well executed nc scenes (probably some of the best in bl land), so you can watch it just for that and no hate to people who like it just for those. No hate either for the people who enjoyed the series. We all like different things. Each to their own and all that. I do think it does deserve an automatic 5 or 6 rating just for the production value, the plot (which is easy enough to follow) and the script (which is decent and the dialogue flows). It’s just everything else that it falls short on. They made the characters so unlikeable which affected the character development and drained all the heart and connection out of the story. Watching it feels really hollow as all I could think was, “I do not care for these people, I cannot warm to them even knowing they’re about to die. Why are you asking me to root for their survival??”
Matsumi had potential moments where I thought his character might become more likeable but as I said, he’s just awful (albeit in a different way to Ritsu). For example, there’s a scene where I guess the writers try to endear his character to the audience by making him ‘attempt’ to comfort a young boy. It was 6 parts tone deaf given the current situation and 4 parts hypocritical given how he’s been living his life. I kept thinking, “you’re in no position to be giving advice buddy, and have you looked outside lately?” As I said, it’s just hard to root for his character. There’s nothing that endears you to him.
That said, I think the worse thing about this series is that after watching everything on screen, the only take-away is that they will remain these awful people. I firmly believe that if the world was not ending or if the world didn’t end in the end they would revert to their same awful selves. I know writers can choose at the swoop of a pen, to make characters ‘live happily ever after’ but nothing onscreen suggests that these people have become better people and will stay together. I’m sure Ritsu would keep hurting Matsumi if the world doesn’t end. Case in point: Ritsu had remained the same person over the past decade and if you are inclined to believe he’s had some sort of awakening now due to the meteorite; it doesn’t explain why after meeting Matsumi again, he still manipulates him and still feels entitled to Matsumi’s time and presence. Brazen is the word that comes to mind. He is yet again using Matsumi exactly like he did ten years ago, which is to seduce Matsumi and use him for his own benefit. I sincerely believe that Ritsu likes Matsumi because Matsumi loves him. Even narcissists need love, even if they just feed off it. I’m never fully convinced that Ritsu grasps the depth of the damage he has done to Matsumi. He seems to centre himself and his feelings in every interaction with Matsumi, both in the past and even now. How can you truly be sorry if you’ve never taken the time to really self reflect on your actions, the damage you’ve caused and how the person you hurt might be feeling? It’s clear he hadn’t done so when you have scenes where a mutual friend had to point out to him that Matsumi might not want to see him. Scenes like in the library where he expected Matsumi to be ‘over it by now’. Sometimes understanding you’ve hurt someone is understanding that you shouldn’t ever show up in front of them again. Let alone force them to talk to you (even if it is the end of the world). The writers try to explain Ritsu’s shitty behaviour by adding that he’s su*cidal but even this feels self serving and like a throwaway explanation of why he is the way he is. There is no depth to this added plot point and just further establishes his selfishness (in contrast to the other character who followed through on her su*cidal ideation). His character being this way is not the issue. Not all characters are going to be decent people. I’m giving these examples to illustrate how little his character has actually changed from the start of the movie to the end. The issue is with the writers insulting the intelligence of the viewers and trying to gaslight them into accepting that Ritsu has had some sort of character development when that just doesn’t play out that way on screen.
I think the writers had a vision for these characters and their path to redemption and all that, unfortunately, they should have written better redemptive qualities into the characters for that to come across (It doesn’t). Instead they just remain awful characters that we’re supposed to pretend are the opposite and that’s what makes this series so awful.
Upon second viewing, there was something I could appreciate that I could not appreciate the first time around: the secondary characters make for a better story. Any emotional depth came from the relationship between the trans character and the young boy. The young boy was annoying at times but their characters are more aligned to what the story is telling you they are and are infinitely more interesting than the main characters. Their budding romance is endearing. I would gladly watch a series with the trans girl as the main character or watch a series that explores the ‘super’ abilities of the young boy. I thought that was really intriguing.
Also, in this second viewing I found everything more farcical. I could not take most of it seriously. Additionally, I didn’t notice it before but the main leads’ kisses are very awkward and fish-like. Matsumi always seems to be gulping for air like a fish out of water whenever he opens his mouth. Suffice to say, it held up even worse on second viewing.

Love till the End of time! ♥️
What a roller coaster of feelings! I I was crying the whole 80% of the series. Glad they had each other together till the end! ♥️Such a great storyline showing the reality issues that some or most of us had experience such
-Family issue, Relationship, Mental Health, Death, Depression, Gender and Life.
It shows the value of life and the hopes of spending the last days of our life correcting our mistakes and living the very last of it with someone we value and love.
Hoping for Season 2! I want to see if there was a miracle against the meteor or if the boy was actually gifted with power. 🙌♥️♥️🤞

A great story
This one is one of the greatest stories that I've ever watched. The story plot is very unique and intersting and I must say very delusional. I loved every bit of it because of the uniqueness that this story holds. The story had a typical starting like any other series and turn out as a great masterpiece. Even the actors did a great job with their characters. So I must say that this made me think about what will I do if the world really going to end just as this. We can go into their shoes and think what will we do if the world is going to end I've never think about my future through a series but this is the first time I compared something like this into real life.
About the music it must've been a little bit improved in some scense. So it'll deliver the correct emotions to the audiance wa more better. About the rewatch value I must say that everyone need to watch this masterpiece atleast once if you're a bl watcher. Overall this is so beautiful and I really loved it.
So what will you do if the world comes to ad end?

beautiful story
I loved this concept so much, I honestly hope that the meteorite hit because it would just make this a very well rounded drama. I love the glimpse of hope we get but I would just love if despite everything there is no way to stop the inevitable so I'll just expect them to die. The whole love story between masumi and ritsu was honestly so natural and sweet. they felt like real people who weren't good nor bad like they both had their flaws but they loved each other and that is enough. Ritsu waiting for masumi to like him again even though they only have a few days left is so beautiful to me.Was this review helpful to you?
I seriously enjoyed this BL
I don’t know why BNMNS isn’t getting more hype but this series is honestly the most fantastic Japanese BL I’ve watched so far in 2023.This is not a typical end-of-the-world story featuring cliched conflict resolution or unrealistic redemption arcs. I share the same sentiments as those who felt that Ritsu was a deeply unlikeable person who didn’t deserve Masumi’s forgiveness. But that’s not relevant to the point that BHMNS is trying to make. The end of the world doesn’t magically turn cruel family members into saints, nor does it bring closure for those mourning the dead.
People still cannot fully rid themselves of their selfish habits, even in their final days. But perhaps, miraculously, love works the best only after you get a glimpse of death.
Only with an end in sight can there be clarity to the mistakes that affect us profoundly, even if we refuse to admit it. If you could start over, what would be the first thing you would undo? That will most likely turn out to be the biggest regret of your life if you don't fix it now.
True to the apocalypse theme, this is a story about all the things that haunt you for the last time before everything goes up in flames. Loneliness and a yearning for connection. Family members you will never reconcile with. All of life’s regrets, with the knowledge that there probably won’t be enough time for redemption.

Amazing
It is not only a bl it is a fullblown psychological drama. I was not willing to watch it because of the fact that Japanese dramas are to emotional for my poor heart. However, this thing is mind and heart blowing, and I recommend it for every little sensitive heart right there. You are gonna be fine! Even though you may cry your eyes out and feel unconfortable - sometimes it is worth it and that is this time. Anyway, acting, directing, scenery, script - honestly - perfect. The only series I can compare with it is My personal wheterman and this one is better. Was this review helpful to you?
Not for everone, but a gem for those who can appreciate it.
I actually really love this series. I feel that this kind of relationship does happen in real life, and it shows us how the characters grow over time, and that actions have consenquences. It's not typical and explores a genre people nowadays are too scared to show, which i hate. It's fiction, a place where we can explore tabboo topics in a safe way. The actors did a great job. They showed hurt, betrayel, love, forgivness, crossdressing, suicide, regret, parental abuse and so much more in a direct yet sensitive manner which i appreciated.
I repeat, this is not for those that get sensitive about the media they are watching or those that can't handle a little bit of toxic love in a piece of FICTION.

Road trip drama
"The End of the World With You" is, at its core, a road-trip movie -- in drama form, with a romance and instead of just one character dying, it's the whole world. And the world here feels very real -- the way the drama is filmed, acted and edited makes everything feel very grounded. There's no flashiness; sets and colours are as realistic as they can be, and as a viewer, I felt the heat of the sun, the refreshing water, the lushness of a Japanese summer.
As usual for the genre of "road trip", it's about reflecting ones past, bringing up regrets and giving character(s) their last-minute character development. And there's always the question in the background: Will we believe in a miracle?
The miracle, so much can be said, is heavily implied here but not fully confirmed. I like it when a story like this one stays open-ended, others might not be satisfied.
It took me years to start this, several days to get through the first two episodes. First because others talked about it being "hard to watch" and "toxic" (and I should have known then and there that this opinion is utter rot, the word "toxic" is as much of a bad sign as "heart-warming") and then because it seemed as if this would be another BL about lost-and-found-again love told only from the perspective of the "uke" character. But near the beginning of episode 4 I saw that this would be more.
The drama started to really go into the road trip part: picking up new party members, encountering different strangers and situations, and going deeper into the past of the four characters, which (of course) are intertwined. During this second half of the drama, Ritsu undergoes a very subtle character development -- maybe a bit too subtle for the average Western viewer. He has to confront his decisons of the past, whether good or bad. He has to face the results of his decisions -- especially what his actions towards his then-lover did to Masumi. With typical Japanese restraint, both of them quietly resolve their tension and understand each other's feelings with the prospect that their lives might end in a few days.
Or it might not, and that is the main crux of the drama and of life: We know we will have to die, but it's not certain when. Masumi and Ritsu will probably die tomorrow, but maybe, if a miracle happens, they might not. We, the viewers of the drama, will probably live longer -- but maybe, if a disaster happens, we might not.
The question is, how will you go on regardless?
Was it good?
It was made with care and a limited budget. It's surprisingly realistic for such a fantastic scenario.
Did I like it?
Yes, and much more than I thought I would. I loved the subtle and understated character development of Ritsu's.
Who would I recommend it to?
Actually, I think every BL fan should at least try it and see for themselves.

it was good series
At the beggining i really liked this series. Honestly, my hopes was low, because i didnt know that there will be a chemistry between the main actors. I was totally wrong! The actor, who play the role of Ritsu is so beautiful! Yes, Ritsu was toxic man who cheated and hurt Masumi`s feelings, but at the end I once again fall in love with his character. He really love Masumi and wanted to make things better. The first two or three episodes was interesting, but when they met Yuma and Meguri, the series was boring. Not everything was clear to me, but the end was what I expected to be.
At the begginig I was sure that I will give it 10 stars, but honestly I wasnt fully impresed. Yes, im surprised that a Japanesse bl series got such a bl scenes, but the story didnt deserve a total 10 stars.

When end of the world is nigh, what would you do?
What would you do if you meet the one person you never want to see again while the world is literally coming to an end?The story is interesting and has a string of emotional moments which you would expect in a series about the end of the world. But what you also have are some amazing characters that are flawed, have a backstory that dictates their present choices and you care about them. The series revolves around these 4 characters. It’s about romance, heartbreaks, redemption, family dimensions and your choices when you are staring at your own mortality.
The story is about Masumi, a closeted gay student who meets Ritsu, a bisexual philanderer and they start a relationship which ultimately ends bitterly because of Ritsu’s nature. While all life is coming to an end in 10 days, Masumi an adult in a dead-end job meets Ritsu, a rich IT businessman again. All past anger comes brimming to the top but fate has a different plan for them. The story takes a different turn with the introduction of Yuma and Meguru. They all go on a road trip together to drop Meguru and Yuma at each of their houses before time runs out. During the subsequent episodes while they are on the road, we get to see glimpses from their past and we realise this trip is now to reconcile with their past actions and make peace with the consequences.
The series portrays a connection that all the characters have with Ritsu and the relationship that develops between them as they face situations arising from an imminent catastrophe. Amongst all of them the most intriguing character is Yuma. The series remains vague about who he really is and this mystery just adds to the flavour. It leaves a lot to your imagination and keeps you guessing till the very end.
This was highly entertaining with great acting from all the cast portraying some difficult and complicated characters with much conviction. The series also did not shy away from some steamy scenes between the two main leads and it doesn’t appear misplaced in the storyline instead enhances it by showing us the kind of relationship Ritsu and Masumi shared.
In conclusion, give this one a try because of a different take on the end of the world storyline, the emotions of the characters and the mystery behind Yuma.
