Good Actors and Fast Action, All Splattered with Blood
Warning, Gentle Viewers: graphic violence and gore ahead, but the title didn't promise a frothy love story. The Good:
• I really like Lee Dong Wook, even when he's playing an emotionless killer. He's not a cruel killer. I'm making excuses for him!
• Park Ji Bin gave me chills with that baby face of psychotic sweetness. Fun fact: that cherubic face is 31 years old! Another fun fact: He played Geum Jan Di's little brother in Boys over Flowers 17 years ago.
• Geum Hae Na's action scenes were amazing. I asked AI if she did her own scenes: "Geum Hae-na performed most of her own action scenes in the Disney+ series A Shop for Killers. She underwent intense, lonely high-intensity training to master grappling and other combat techniques, which resulted in her gaining 3kg of muscle mass. Her physically demanding performance, which included scenes where she reportedly vomited from exhaustion, earned her a Best Supporting Actress Award at the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards."
• I appreciated seeing some actors who looked like average people: short, old, plain, etc.
• I wasn't sure if this went in The Good or The Bad list, but the action was nonstop and the tension was unrelenting. I had to take breaks in order to handle it. I'll put in The Good, as I wasn't bored.
The Bad:
• Disney+ offers the drama only in dubbed form. It's weird and offputting. The dialogue sounded like it was written by AI without a full charge of electricity.
• The drama didn't end; it just stopped. That's regrettable as my introductory offer on Disney+ runs out before the second season arrives. I prefer binging seasons, because I tend to forget quickly, but I don't mind waiting if there is a viable conclusion at the end of each season. This left so many things hanging. What will happen with Babylon? What happened to Jin Man? With his intelligence and survival skills, I never bought things went down the way we were told. Please, let it be a diversion tactic and not stupid writing. At this point, we don't even know who is left alive. This was not a complete drama—it was a prelude.
• I would have expected Jung Jin Man to have prepared his niece better or that she would have adapted better. I'm thinking season 2 will see her character develop. Buckle up, Buttercup.
Now I'm off to watch something sweet and soothing. I had a mistaken perception that Disney+ would be princesses and unicorns, but it's violence, darkness, and blood, at least where the K-dramas are concerned. Now that I know they don't offer all K-Dramas with subtitles, I don't need to renew my subscription when it runs out.
I reserve the right to add an extra half star if the second season answers my questions.

An action drama released without a proper story.
The drama is just a bunch of action that makes no progress. From the beginning and as per the details of the drama, it was about a 21 year old FL who is somehow targeted by killers possessing high tech ammunition like machine guns, sniper, drone killing machines, gas grenades, etc. FL is apparently targeted because of her relationship with uncle ML. Her uncle trains her to survive but let me tell you his training isn't really gruesome survival training, it is at most a self defense class that may work on a burglar or a car jack situation, but not on killers who been doing killing as profession with high artillery at their aid. Also during all this training he never tells FL why he is making her do this and what his actual job is. He disguises himself as normal business person while makes FL train for her own protection. And all that time not once FL asks her uncle aka ML what is all this or even get curious about him. Half the brain cells lost there itselfThe whole four episodes is all about FL being attacked with no clear explanations other than she is ML's niece and if they kill her they will get money. It also shows ML is rich and very powerful enough but at the same time it doesn't make any sense he leaves her niece all alone on pretext she is code green and a code green will be protected by the ML organization he created but only one woman shows up to protect FL. And this woman only comes to protect FL after hearing killers gun shot instead of being with FL from the beginning when she had chance and also explain why this is happening to her and what is all the killing situation is about.
Nobody till 4th episode (the drama is only 8ep) don't explain to FL why everyone is trying to get her killed. They managed to drag this story till 4th episode. His uncle owns a secret artillery shop, FL should be killed to get money. But why, why must she be killed, why the ML is not around to protect her. Till 4th episode no clarity. Ok maybe I thought they are trying to build suspense, but till 4th episode showing no progress in any other ways is not called suspense. It is more like there isn't much story.
The drama is too slow for an 8 episodes. Only three things happened, ML goes off radar, killers try to kill FL, FL still trying to survive. There is no actual progressive conversation that makes you understand the whole point of this drama and every character action. Even the action scenes are not really well choreographed and planned.
It's almost like writers are thinking if we show an action drama with bunch of big guns, drones and killing machines and have a story that tries makes sense but at same time no actual strong storyline people would just watch because full on guns kind of action dramas are rare. And also ML is a class A actor, so people would definitely watch for him.
As of now when it comes to big action dramas, moving did the best when it comes to making sense of story. I don't understand why people are saying this is good as moving when it is not even close. Moving is very realistic written for a super hero action world and writer clearly shows audience what is going with story, why everything is happening to them. But this doesn't.

A masterpiece
I have no words to explain how much I loved this drama. It is my all time favourite and an absolute work of art. The soundtrack was perfect and I still listen to some songs sometimes. I cared so much for the characters and I love how complicated and morally grey they could be and I would still love them. This drama made my heart feel full, it made me sob, it made me smile and laugh and everything in between and I so wish it was possible to forget it all and watch it again because it was an absolutely brilliant masterpiece and I cannot recommend it enough! Was this review helpful to you?

Best Action!
Honestly, the best action I have seen in a while. There are a total of eight episodes packed with stories and action. Not a single moment is wasted on chitter-chatter, the story unfolds and explains the questions that may come up as the stories are introduced. The characters are well-developed and actors played a role in making their characters more lively.
This drama is a binge-worthy drama!

UNIQUE UNIQUE UNIQUE
this drama was a puzzle but the thing is you didnt know what pieces were missing until they told you about it themselves like i knew what was going on but i had no idea about anything at the same time and this is what made this drama so unique.im sure there are many dramas that show many flashback scenes during each episode but i dont think i was ever impressed this much by the way they tell you the story.
this drama is about both "what has happened" and "what is going to happen" and everyone knew the answers of both questions except us and the female lead and we were on the same side trying to figure out.
the cast did their job portraying their own characters so well and its kinda funny but this was my first ever drama of lee dong wook even though i have watched +200 kdrama so far but this was the first time i watched him on my screen and ngl he is so good at his job and the female lead !!! she nailed her character and sth that attracted my attention was how both actors they chose for the fl for her childhood era and her adulthood era looked so similar to eo i could easily believe they are the same person.
i cant put it into like one word and say this drama is about this and this is it because many things were going on at the same time but generally speaking you deal with killers ( both legally and illegally ) , a shop for these killers , dark web and family..
the last word seems a bit off topic but i never knew how much i needed to see a relationship between an uncle and his niece like it was obvious he was not her father but he couldnt help it he was still caring about her and this was the sweetest thing i could ever witness..
everything ive said so far were all compliments but about why im not giving this a 10 even though i loved it this much is that i was actually bored sometimes while watching and this is sth so important to me that how much a drama can keep me seated but this kinda failed to keep me seated for a long time many times but at the same time im glad this was a short 8 ep drama so i could ignore this flaw comparing to many others things about this drama because although i was bored i couldnt pause and still wanted to know what is going to happen next and this is sth good i guess
this was probably my longest review till now ( well i dont write reviews alot to start with ) but i guess its obvious how much i loved this drama and its got a new topic you might not just choose a random drama and face with it maybe its not the first tho it might just me who is not aware but whatever if you read till here i hope you give this drama a try and i hope it doesnt let you down just like it didnt me <3

Accidentally Developed An Obsession
My 4 categories are Acting/Cast, Writing, Direction/SFX/Music, Entertainment Value.I was excited for this one. Lee Dong Wook (이동욱) is one of my favorite Korean actors because of his ability to play all kinds of characters. I loved his role as a villain in Strangers From Hell. In A Shop For Killers, he's playing a darker role too, although not exactly a villain.
Acting/Cast: I love the cast and their acting. I think Ji An, the main character, has become one of my all time favorite K-drama characters. Min Hye is badass, too. I also like Brother, Pasin, and of course Jin Man. The only casting I didn't like was Ji An's childhood friend. I'm glad he didn't have much screen time. 9/10
Writing: I love the plot and the characters. I like the way that the story unfolded using the "잘 들어 정지안" (Listen well, Jeong Ji An) pattern. It gave the drama a certain kind of charm. I normally hate flashbacks, but these flashbacks were done in a way that felt artistic -at least the Ji An flashbacks did. There was a portion of the drama that had long flashbacks that I felt were unnecessary. They were scenes that the audience had already experienced, but more detail was being added in. I didn't need the extra detail. I liked the mysterious vibe that the scenes originally had. It was as though we were in the same boat with Ji An not knowing what the hell was going on and we were uncovering the mystery with her. But, because of these 'retracing our steps' scenes, I felt like I was watching the same scenes twice and I got bored. 8/10
Direction/SFX/Music: The best thing about the drama... This is how I accidentally developed an obsession. The camera work, the production value, the weapons, the choreography, the MUSIC - it's all so good. It was a bit reminiscent of John Wick (and John Wick is one of the greatest things to exist in the world of artful cinematography). I finally got all the songs I wanted from this drama on my mp3 player. I haven't been this into a soundtrack since...maybe Strangers From Hell? Well, the Doona! soundtrack was pretty good, too. By the way, the music played during the gas mask scene is called Minhye Action. I was looking for that one for a while. 10/10
Entertainment Value: This obsession really snuck up on me. I didn't think I was enjoying it that much. It was because of those repeated scenes that I mentioned earlier. I just wanted to get back to the action with everyone at the house. Don't keep me holding my breath. After the drama ended, I couldn't get it out of my head. I liked it more and more as time passed. This is the same thing that happened to me years back with Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. I gave it a 6 or a 7 upon finishing the drama, but I missed it so much once it was gone that I ended up putting that drama in my top 10 and increasing its score to 9.5. Anyway, I'm not usually one for sequels, but this drama needs one. I actually think that not having a second season will hurt this drama in the long run (unless the second season is terrible of course...Sweet Home...Strong Girl...send help. 8/10
Overall, I ended up increasing this drama's score from a 7.5 to a 9/10.
See, this is why I don't write reviews immediately after completing a drama. I have to give it some time to sink in so I can sort out my feelings.
By the way, I made 3 YouTube Shorts related to this drama - one features Ji An, one features Jin Man, and one features Min Hye. The titles are "Ji An | A Shop For Killers | Little Girl Gone", "Jin Man | A Shop For Killers | YUNGBLUD", "Min Hye | A Shop For Killers | Black Betty" and my channel name is The Enablers (@theenablers3846).

Wild and Intriguing!!
A Shop for Killers grabbed me from the word go. It is a wild ride of action and some seriously intense moments. The drama is all about this young woman, Jeong Ji-an – Kim Hye-jun kills it in this role – and her life flips upside down when her uncle, Jeong Jin-man (played by the always awesome Lee Dong-wook), kicks the bucket in a super shady way. This uncle, who raised her after her parents died, seemed like a regular dude running an online shopping mall called "Murthehelp." But surprise! It was actually a front for selling weapons and gear to hitmen. Talk about a family business! So, after her uncle's gone, Ji-an suddenly inherits this crazy world and becomes a target for all sorts of dangerous people – rival assassins, secret organizations – who want what her uncle left behind. The show is slick because it jumps between what's happening to Ji-an now and flashbacks of her growing up with her uncle and the really unique (and kind of scary) training he gave her.
What I really liked:
The Story: The idea of a shopping mall for killers is just so dark and cool. You're constantly wondering what's really going on with the uncle and how Ji-an's going to get out of all the messes she finds herself in.
The Acting: Lee Dong-wook is so good as the uncle, even though you mostly see him in the past. And Kim Hye-jun as Ji-an? She nails it, showing how tough she's becoming while still being vulnerable. The bad guys in the show, played by Seo Hyun-woo and Jo Han-sun, are also seriously creepy and well-acted.
The Action Scenes: Seriously, the fight choreography is top-notch. The action is exciting and totally fits into the story.
How the Story Unfolds: The way they switch between the present and the past works really well. You slowly piece together the puzzle of who her uncle was and why all this is happening.
The Feels: It's not just about the action. There's a real emotional core to the story, especially the relationship between Ji-an and her uncle. It makes you actually care about what happens to her.
Just a heads-up:
• It might take a little bit to get your bearings with the timeline jumps at the beginning, but stick with it – it all comes together.
• Some of the villains can feel a little bit like classic bad guys, but they're still effective.
Overall, a Shop for Killers is a super engaging and stylish action-packed drama with a really interesting and dark premise. The acting is great, the action is awesome, and the story keeps you hooked. Plus, the relationship between Ji-an and her uncle gives it some real heart. If you're into Korean dramas, action thrillers, or just something a little different, you should definitely check this out. The best part is that they are actually making a second season, which is supposed to come out next year in 2026! Lee Dong-wook and Kim Hye-jun are coming back, and they're adding some new actors too. Sounds like things are about to get even crazier!

Crazy hell.
It's a fucking hell of a crazy, badass, mind-fucking series! Man… oh man, I could slap myself for not watching it sooner. I was all set to give it a 9🌟 before the end, but then that man showed himself, and I was like, How the fuck could a badass like him just kill himself in front of a 20-year-old boy? But as the twist unraveled, it turned out to be an out-and-out 10🌟 series for me!Can’t wait for S2—it’s gonna be a hell of a ride.
