Doctor Slump is giving me many butterflies while watching it

It's a very normal story about two people who share pain and disappointment about their life and the unexpected path it took.

After long years of hard work to be a doctor Ha Neul (Park Shin Hye) requit her job after knowing that she is depressed to take a break to think and take care of herself. In the other hand we have Yeo Jeong Woo (Park Hyung Sik) who is a very popular Plastic surgeon, but loses everything after a terrible surgery. So he moves on the roof in the house of Neul.
Then we got to know that were classmates in the high school, not a normal classmates but a very competitive ones, so we got to see many and many funny moments between them and also flashbacks when they were just students and believe me they competit about everything like : "let's find out who has the worst life !?" Hehe .

And i loved how they support each other when they're at their worst, and how she believed he was innocent from the first moment.
i loved the chemistry between Shin Hye & Hyung Sik ( something i wanted to watch since the Heirs).
And how warm and cozy is the dialogue in the drama! I cried in many scenes with them ㅠㅠ
I loved many supporting characters too like Nam Ba Da ( God, the sister brother interactions are so natural and funny),
And i liked Dae Young ( a true friend trusts in you even when everyone claims you are guilty).
I never wrote a review before watching the whole drama BUT this one is special!!! Can't wait to see more :)

Cringey romance. ….. and nothing else

This drama - is it the Netflix USA watered down version for the American audience?
It is tepid'
, tasteless, cringey, pointless. Like old dramas made in the 70s.
Over the top mother and jobless son are supposed to be the comic relief when in reality they make you want to cry.
The mean and absurd doctors who steal dissertations - yikes'
The whole criminality behind the Macau murder - was it meant as a child’s play?
And finally the romance- seriously if you are married and uncomfortable kissing other men in your chosen career then do the audience a favor and stop accepting romantic roles.
The FL has the expression of Atlas carrying the burden of the earth - sad, sorrowful- and this has nothing to do with her depression.
The ML struggles thhhrough the romantic scenes. His antics in other scenes bring some oxygen to this claustrophobia.

I really wish they would display the meds which the psychiatrist prescribed for the FL because by the end of the 7th episode I’ll be needing the same.

interesting plotline, bad execution

When I saw this on Netflix I was elated. I mean, two academic rivals meeting each other again at the lowest point of their lives resulting in them finding solace in each other? AND falling in love in the process? That's literally my cup of tea. Unfortunately, I ended up being disappointed.

First and foremost, I disliked the romance. I barely felt anything between the leads. Their chemistry was nonexistent. I could tell they were going for a slow-burn romance. But where were the subtleties that makes a slow-burn a GOOD slow-burn? Instead we have Jeong Woo ignoring his own feelings towards Ha Neul, knowing deep down he likes her. Girl, the whole world knows you like her. I'm tired of those clichés.

The theme surrounding mental health was well explained. However, the comedic aspect ruined it all; it felt off-putting. Though, maybe that's just a preference considering I love mature dramas without comedy more than whatever-this-is.

Ending my review as I've only watched 5 out of 16 episodes

Simply not good

I think the whole idea of this drama was better on the creator's head. Good idea to bring some awareness about mental health issues and many other factors that a doctor might have to go through their career.
Sadly, very bad executed.

I really love fun and cheesy dramas, don't get me wrong. This one was just cringey and sometimes fun (barely). The acting was not good, many scenes felt forced and rushed, the romance evolved in a way that doesn't catch you kicking your feet because of how cheesy it is.

Watching it felt like they were going in one direction and then suddenly make this rough change when you are starting to "connect" with what's going on, if it was more organized, maybe I could have been better, but it was really messy and hard to watch. I was forcing myself to watch it just because I wanted to know more about how was he sabotaged in his surgery, but it is not worth watching the whole thing.
Boring, pretty female lead, male lead feels like a cheap copy of the male lead of our beloved summer back to school, good OST.
Simply, not good.

series with well-written plot

Doctor Slump is an unmissable series for fans of medical dramas, romance and stories about human life. This fabulous production addresses delicate topics such as mental health, forgiveness, trauma, love, second chances and the overwhelming routine of modern life. Its narrative is captivating, moving and fun. The cast is wonderful, the performances are impeccable and the characters are very well constructed. The viewer who chooses to delight in this work will have their time well spent and will be pleased with the message left (very welcome in the contemporary world): when necessary, seek help in order to have the necessary strength to endure and overcome sadness , misfortunes and fears; learn to suffer for a short time, cherish good memories for a long time and deal with feelings in a healthy way, harmonizing thoughts. Remember: "IF THERE IS SADNESS, THERE WILL BE HAPPINESS TOO".

Doctor Slump — When Healing Feels More Romantic Than Love Itself

Doctor Slump wasn’t just a romantic drama for me — it felt like a safe place disguised as a story. From the first episode, you can tell it isn’t trying to be flashy or overly dramatic. It’s quiet, emotional, and deeply human, and that’s exactly why it worked so well. Park Hyung Sik absolutely carried a different kind of charm here. Yes, he’s sexy — effortlessly so — but what stayed with me more was how fragile and sincere he felt. There’s a softness in the way he plays burnout and emotional exhaustion that never feels exaggerated. You don’t watch him like a typical K-drama “perfect male lead.” You watch him like someone you actually know. Someone trying to survive rather than trying to impress.

And then there’s Park Shin Hye. Her chemistry with him is honestly one of the strongest parts of the drama. It doesn’t feel like forced romance or scripted flirting. It feels like two people who understand each other’s lowest moments. Their relationship grows out of shared pain rather than fantasy, and that makes every small smile, every quiet conversation, feel more meaningful than grand romantic gestures. Instead of dramatic confessions, we get emotional healing — and that’s way more powerful.

What I loved most is how the drama talks about mental health without turning it into a lecture. Burnout, failure, pressure, expectations… everything feels painfully realistic. These are characters who were once at the top of their world and suddenly have to face what happens when success disappears. The story isn’t about falling in love while being perfect — it’s about falling apart and still finding someone who stays.

Visually and musically, the drama supports that softness perfectly. The soundtrack doesn’t overpower scenes; it just follows the emotional rhythm quietly, letting the actors breathe. And honestly, that’s rare. A lot of dramas try to manipulate emotions with loud music, but Doctor Slump trusts its performances enough to let silence do the work.

If I had to describe the feeling in one sentence, it would be this: it’s a drama about learning how to live again, not just learning how to love.

Final thoughts

This is one of those rare shows where romance feels natural because it grows from emotional recovery. The chemistry between Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye isn’t just cute — it feels earned. It made me smile, it made me emotional, and more importantly, it made me feel understood. For me, it’s a perfect drama not because everything is dramatic or intense, but because it feels real enough to heal something quietly inside you.

A beautiful soul searching story - Please do watch!

Reading the top reviews, I believe people have not truly understood the meaning of this drama. it's not a regular drama, but the meaning and purpose behind this drama is altogether touching and healing.

We all long for such people in lives and that's what bas been depicted. As said in other comments, I believe the romance is not a cringe, not boring and infact quite healing. The entire storyline is well knit, and the music is just way beyond expectations. Not all stories need to make your heart beats high, but some should be soothing and healing. 100 percent rewatch value and please don't go by the comments. Experience this lovestory yourselves. Hot Chocolate recommended ❤️

Both the actors are phenomenal, and my favourites. Have seen them grow as actors and have done a wonderful portrayal of characters. This drama definitely atleast deserves a rating of 9.5.

Best Healing Kdrama

*Dr. Slump* was absolutely amazing! I can't even put into words how much this drama healed me. I resonated deeply with the characters, and every actor played their role perfectly. I'm so grateful to have come across this show—it was truly a beautiful experience. Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye were incredible, and their chemistry was absolutely adorable. This drama touched my heart in so many ways, and I loved every moment of it!

This drama was on my list for so long glad I watched this finally :)

Captivating, Highly Recommended Watch!

Look, unless something hits me somewhere deep, the highest rating I'll ever give is a 9. However Doctor Slump is one of those exceptions. I am a sucker for a good romance story and the connection between both main characters was stunning. Not only that, but I was also attracted to many of the side plots as well. The ending felt entirely satisfying. I love being able to look back at the end of a drama going "wow, look how far we've come", and that's exactly how I felt. I enjoyed getting to watch these characters grow together, it was heartwarming. Though as a warning to potential watchers, this drama did take a lot out of me emotionally. I cried my eyes out, I laughed my butt off, and giggled like a little school girl. Personally I had yet to watch very many dramas surrounding topics such as mental illnesses and wow is it a game changer. I highly related to many of the characters and it made me all the more connected to the drama. And along with all the uneasyness and depression, there was a compliment of relaxing, happy, giddy scenes. I HIGHLY advise this to be on anyones watchlist. ☆ 10/10 ☆

It is always good to watch dramas that explore mental health.

I enjoyed watching it, the story was a little weak but I had fun. I expected more out of this drama. The chemistry between the actors was underutilized, they made a cute couple.

It was good to watch them be there for each other during the tough times, I would have liked a little more bickering that would have made things more interesting between them. But that's fine since they explored bullying and toll it can take on a person's mental health.

It was sad to see that even in fiction the bullies often get away with things.

"If there’s sadness, there will always be happiness as well."

The emotional attachment I felt for this drama and characters is beyond comprehension. I cried when they held hands for the first time...i CRIED because they HELD HANDS
At first, I was hesitant to start 'doctor slump', there were so many low and average reviews, people saying it got tiring half through the season or that the characters weren't enjoyable to follow. It's safe to say I disagree with most (if not all) of it.

For the first time, I felt what those characters were feeling, I was happy when they were happy and sad when they were sad. I cared for them the same way I care for a friend. Watching 'doctor slump' was like living through these people's lives with them, suffering but also fighting for happiness with them. My knowledge of english is not enough to express how I feel about this story. I've never felt so strongly about something in my life lol

Even though I gave it a 10 and it is definitely my favorite kdrama I've watched so far, it did have a single con, but it was easy to overlook since what I loved about it was way stronger than anything else. My only complaint is the childlike attitude these characters in there 30s have towards a relationship, which happens quite often in kdramas, but it felt exaggerated in this one (they kissed like 2 times and got shy about it even after months of dating, like bffr).  With this out of the way, everything else was everything I needed it to be. I liked every single character, bad or good, they had a purpose to be there, and I didn't feel the need to skip a single second of it. I enjoyed every scene with Haneul's family and with 2FL and 2ML, and as someone who tends to find side stories too boring, i was surprised and satisfied.

The ending was also satisfying. I'm always scared to start a new kdrama and be disappointed by the last episode (business proposal, im looking at you).
