Kuang gathers his courage and reveals to Meng Meng that he has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). To his surprise, Meng Meng is not repelled and responds, "Can’t a person with ALS make friends?". They agree to meet, but when Meng Meng arrives at Kuang’s home, she finds only a massive quantum computer connected to a brain, with Kuang’s voice coming from it. Shocked and terrified, Meng Meng flees. It is then that Kuang realizes he no longer has a physical body.
