Unexpectedly Funny, Underrated GEM!
I seriously went into this drama without any expectations, but I liked the ML and I felt sorry that he got paired up so badly in his past dramas which I mostly dropped. This one started out pretty standard. Set is ... super fake. Those bad wigs especially on the ML when his hair is down made him look so bad. However, if you at least make it by ep 8 then you'll see that this is more of a comedy Xian Xia like a Starry love type. ML's voice (dubbed or not), suits the character very well, gives him that sarcastic feel. The drama does get serious as it progresses so less comedic moments later on.
Story quality is way better than the set quality. There are quite a few interesting supporting characters with sufficient screen time to build up their characters as well. I think if you are looking for new blood (young pretty faces) this is not it.
But if you want:
1. A great actor that can portray this kind of semi bad, inner good, partially sarcastic character
2. Enjoyable dialogue and not the typical ML/FL will just focus on Love and nothing else matters
2. Interesting supporting characters
3. No Nasty 3rd wheel can't get a clue but just trying to steal the leads away & wasting screen time
Then this is a great watch!
Fav. Moments:
Ep 8 FL won't die. Probably the funniest Ep
Ep 26 ML's realization. Hit the spot! OST is killing it
Ep 29 The show down
Ep 32 ML's guilt proposal followed by the makeup scene
Not so Favorite:
The Ending ... It was just meh....

"I Will Always Be With You"
I first saw LXY in the role of Wu Xin in TBOY and this actor intrigued me. I added this show to my watchlist and waited. Since then I had seen the actor in a few other productions and though not the best of scripts and I don't like Xianxias, was still looking forward to it because though completely unfamiliar with the FL, the rest of the cast was pretty solid. This review will combine both pros and cons because you really couldn't pull them apart. The show in itself for most of it was just chugging along steadily, no real meat and potatoes until conspiracies started to come to light and fall apart. ML or YZ was played so well by LXY; he handled every emotion including PTSD, outrage, love, jealousy, joy, and ass kicking with a simplistic approach. YZ's original misguided plan was to rid the world of the five sins or basically destroy the world was swatted by the FL or JTY because though she didn't say it, she came into his life to protect him as well as teach him and herself love. What started as a divine mandate from the elder Gods to stay with YZ until he died of natural causes, protect him and then take his divine hand back to the Gods where it supposedly belonged. Except what no one knew at the time that the divine hand really did belong to YZ as the God who cut it off himself was trying to save the world from what two villains had unleashed.
YZ endured hell of being stuck in some lock by the supposed leaders of his clan especially a middle villain who then kept him captive in a cave for 40 years even though he won the war. Which is when he came up with those 5 sins to keep from going insane. After he was released he and his 5 spirit weapons whom he sealed in random locations not to fall into the hands of Leader of the clan. Meanwhile until TY arrived, he was being tortured for his divine hand's blood and power. And they wondered how he was able to manage being treated as a prisoner. But he figured it all out and was biding his time to leave and begin his plan.
With TY's arrival as just a handmaiden but in fact the goddess of craftsmanship, creator of the city of Yandu, having made 3 vows that she would never tell him who she really was, why she was there, or fall for him. All of which by episode 35, she courageously spoke into words. Because prior to that she could only say "I will always be with you"; had she broken that oath, she would dissipate. The beginning episodes were very funny because she died quite a few times and then would come back to life a bit later to the bewilderment of YZ and his guard-spirit weapon 1. YZ was the embodiment of Oscar the Grouch and it took him a while to thaw.
It was pretty cool that regardless of how frail or injured her mortal body was, she would give her life a thousand times over to save him. There were side storylines like that of the third wheel aka QL who before he became enlightened, spent more time knocked out than conscious, which was funny in itself. But though he supposedly liked TY, he didn't make a move on her and I feel like it was more unrequited love than anything else. As he grew and smartened up, he came to admire YZ as he's the one helped QL become the perfect War Demon; super powerful that he was able to ultimately kill his side's evil chief in the end after giving her a verbal bitch slap for using their people (his brother and mother included) as sacrifices for her own greed, he was team good all the way pretty much since TY kept saving him.
The second couple's story was a sad one, but one that was quite lovely from a storyteller's perspective. ZD was human and met TH in her prime but sadly after she rescued him and he recovered, he left her and she spent the rest of her youth searching for him but by the time she found him, she was old and grey and he had forgotten all about her. So at a supposedly random temple she prayed to the Goddess of Embroidery (the dumbest name for a goddess ever especially since she was the main antagonist); who gave her youth back on the condition that if she ever needed anything, ZD would do it. Back then ZD was all too willing to accept because she had no idea of the dire consequences that simple agreement would bring in the future. Ultimately her youth card ended and she grew into an old woman and couldn't spend her days with TH as he was essentially immortal and still youthful.
TH meanwhile had spent 100 years seeking forgiveness from YZ for not telling him his family was killed by the clans people while he was in the middle of the God/Demon war. They started as best friends but they were at odds. It wasn't until the leads left the mountain in search of the spirit weapons, that they finally came to a truce. TY taught YZ a lot in those times like understanding that his spirit weapons were human too and had emotions and feelings; they weren't just objects. Especially after the whole Pei Jiu/Lu Chen arc. Lu Chen didn't forget his lady love even though by the rules he was supposed to. Love is stronger than any oath. As A Xiu told him very smartly "we're connected to you by the oath we gave you. But we are a part of you so we feel what you feel. If you feel sad, we feel sad. If you are happy, we are happy. If you are tired, we are tired. If you hate, we hate. If you let go, we let go." Such an important and powerful speech.
Small characters that ended up helping a lot like TY's Master who secretly hit YZ with a Lotus skill that helped him wake up at the end when the Demon Lord took over. Or the 4th wheel who was a spirit weapon lamp that TY created, he was part of the spirit weapon group that was holding onto YZ's consciousness as the Demon Lord was trying to assimilate with him. Even though they gave up their bodies/lives to help wake YZ up, ultimately he did live and we could deduce that they also returned as we saw A Xiu as a little kid run around YZ at the end of the series. Going back to that speech; "if you live, we live." So he's got the divine hand and all of them. I'd like to think Lu Chen went back to his lady love. Poor MS spent 40 years enduring lightning tribulations to ascend to Godhood but the day he did, he died protecting YZ and TY against HN aka Goddess of Embroidery and the final/main antagonist of the piece. But at least he got a chance to spend time with YZ and others and I do hope that in the aftermath he still got immortality. Plot hole was where did ZD's right hand man go after he delivered a message to her and then we didn't see him again until Master Yan ordered ZD's brother's arrest? A solid 10 episodes he wasn't around while before he was always by her side.
I wish the story moved faster and we didn't have a lot of just step at a time. You knew who the villains were pretty early on though how far the plan went and why was pathetic. Chief War demon, a bunch of the older chiefs of the YH clan especially the old fart, ZD's own brother, Master Yan, demon lord and HN were the antagonists. I'll list them out as what they did, why, and their deaths if they happened:
-Chief War Demon: Nearly brought her clan to extinction, Greed, taken out by QL.
-Chiefs of YH Clan: Would follow anyone as long as they were allowed immortality, Greed, killed by Demon Lord or Team TY rushing up the mountain.
-Old Fart Dingxu: Tortured YZ for his blood and divine hand power, killed his and everyone's families; Greed and self preservation, killed by TH, ZD, and QL.
-ZD's Brother: Created Wushang Society in the name of the goddess but in reality were helping the demons thrive and kill. Also killed his own father (father and daughter never got a chance to reunite; just despicable) and was planning to do the same to his sister to take over city lord position to rule the human race. Superiority complex and greed. Was jailed awaiting execution.
-Master Yan: Trapped YZ even though he worshipped her as a goddess but he believed the words of ZD's brother because he was his disciple. So in order to escape she was forced to take out her own divinity bone making herself even more human as the old bastard understood who he trapped and she told him some choice words after breaking his statue of her. But he didn't break a sweat, just rebuilt the statue and went about his day even when her friends came to seek him for advice, he never told him the unprecedented evil he did. Power hungry and greedy just like his disciple. He should have been struck by lightening at least. I felt this was getting away with a heinous crime.
-Demon Lord: Laughable for an antagonist. He was the dominant soul of the primordial God Taihe who TY originally created the Devine hand for. He possessed YZ for a bit and with the help of TY, the spirit weapons, and YZ himself upon waking up, fizzled out of existence. He spent most of the series as smoke or a talking map. Just ridiculous really. He wanted the world to live in fear and resentment as that's what he fed off of. Ultimately killed by TY and YZ.
-Goddess of Embroidery or HN: Everything was her plan from the beginning. When she was a human 3,000 years before, she was betrayed by her sister for loving a playboy so they set her up as a witch and burned her at the stake. Because of her flawless embroidery, upon her death she ascended to heaven. Her heart filled with hate, after trying to turn good and failing, she found out Lord Taihe who was cultivating forgiveness and peace also had a very dark side. So she unleashed it which led to the 1st God/Demon war (when TY was hurt for the first time and YZ as a little Fox woke her up from a deep slumber and took half her pendant) and Taihe in a desperate attempt to kill the evil, cut the divine hand off which floated to the mortal realm and to the YH clan where YZ was the only child that was able to appropriate it. TY met YZ as a kid a second time where he prayed to her. In the meantime, while trying to find the right host, kids and families were killed. Another war broke out, this time YZ as an adult used the hand to end it and TY took a blow meant for him. Both wars were instigated by HN to get the divine hand to the demon lord. She wanted to kill YZ ASAP but it didn't quite work that way. Eventually she used ZD's promise and a downhill snowball, the demon lord was reborn in YZ's body for a bit. The reason for her doing everything was for revenge on her long dead sister and to end the world for her bullshit grievances. Obsessed and blind she then took a stupid and cowardly way out by turning YH's mountain into a piece of embroidery along with herself. It was very anticlimactic.
I love ZL who played HN because she can pull off a flawless antagonist. But her ending here didn't do her justice at all. The ambiguous OE ending was very blah. YZ and TY traveled for several years and then eventually after telling him everything else, she disappeared. But there's hope because there's her lingering spirit in the world. Plus the bit she gave him in episode 6 and the lotus her master gave him. Unfortunately, though an extra episode was filmed with her returning in human form and it being an obvious HE according to the screenwriter, production decided not to use it. I find that very dumb. People will talk about the show regardless of the ending but depriving us of that isn't fair at all.
Would I recommend it? I would; though not an obvious HE and lots of plot holes and confusion, ultimately this was a good watch and you got all of the emotions out of it you needed.

It's not the stereotypical xianxia. (There's something a little different to see.)
I really appreciated Liu Xueyi (real voice/ not dubbed) in the play and wanted to hear whether Tiffany Tang 's original lines/ real voices (not dubbed) were suitable for ancient costumes, so I clicked on it.Unexpectedly, this Xianxia is a real Xianxia, not an ancient puppet Xianxia!! It's not a baby fairy!! It is an immortal who cultivates and becomes an immortal and has real skills!!
Do you know that the beginning is not a chance encounter when you were a child, several lives and several lifetimes, not a master and apprentice, as soon as you start, you will introduce the bond between the goddess and the Great Fox Priest Yuan Zhong, and then cut directly to the encounter between the male and female protagonists, and start telling the story refreshingly?
It has always been criticized as an "elderly fairy", but their setting is very suitable, how can the fox and the goddess be young, not impetuous characters, stable, tenacious and smart Ji Tanyin and Yuan Zhong should be played by Tang Yan and Liu Xueyi.
Needless to say, Liu Xueyi's original lines and acting skills have been played by him, and he finally played a fox once, cunning is his comfort zone, and one person in prison plays multiple roles for him!
I didn't expect Tiffany 's original voice to be very suitable for Xianxia, not a play at all, so many ancient puppets should have used their own voices before, and I can understand Tang Yan's "female power" in Ji Tanyin, the goddess loves the world and has a skill, no one wants to miss such a role.
This drama was really harmed by the preview and announcement of iQiyi's editing, and they owe 1000 popularity to "Nian Wushuang"(A moment but forever); Chen Tongxun (stilist) was ridiculed for this drama, and he also owed "Nian Wushuang" (A moment but forever) 1000 popularity; The post-production special effects also owe "Nian Wushuang" (A moment but forever) 1000 heat!
Please click on it! Don't miss out on the True Fairy !!

When the protagonist falls into the lake, We subconsciously thinks that they are going to kiss and cross the air; The protagonist is frightened and subconsciously thinks that they will crash into each other's arms; The protagonist is injured by the other party, and subconsciously thinks that they are going to start complaining to each other; When none of these subconscious appeared in Nian Wushuang (A moment but forever), I actually found that my Xianxia drama watching thinking has been stereotyped by routines over the years, so the different freshness of this Nian Wushuang (A moment but forever) is also very attractive to me.

This drama has a bit of realism. How many "terrible" things happen in this world. Really terrible, because someone was mistreated. The person can turn into something else (which depends on inner strength not to turn to the other side, to evil in fact. We see this every day in this world.). The drama was completely understandable and justifiable in showing this troubled character who was about to lose himself, but didn't. (like the phrase in the trailer: "One thought you become a demon, one thought you become a god").
"and I hope that the "Left Hand of God" will also bring you sincerity, kindness, and the courage to love and be loved, and the "power of the source" to dare to look directly into the darkness without falling into it.- (Liu Xue Yi- actor)"https://m.weibo.cn/status/5155411955292303

In this drama, Fl seemed like a goddess in the best sense of the word, something I hadn't seen in any drama until now. The power of compassion, and the power to positively intervene in the lives of humans (using the power of his heart and her magical powers in various nuances of her power, artisanal power, power to interfere with time, power to enter the stages of his consciousness. Power to heal him, giving him part of her power, power to fight her enemy and run away. Power to even exist a little longer after breaking the 3 oaths. Determined, capable of facing the council of gods and choosing to save instead of destroy. Choosing to even stop being a goddess (but still having the power to save and fight for those she wanted to save).
The Ml lead was also almost a god. What's the problem??? He received the divine hand created by the goddess Tan Yin and the left hand chose him. (What's the problem? Both were valued in this drama. The man and the woman, the main couple.
But some people think that in order to value the female lead, it is necessary to demean and destroy the male lead. The male lead in this drama endured a lot of humiliation, his journey was one of redemption, he needed a character, the first character in these dramas who truly has the characteristics of a goddess, to help him get out of the pit. Both had their journey (in the best sense of a plot telling a story). Without demeaning or destroying the male lead, valuing him. Without demeaning the female lead, but with each episode reinforcing her characteristics of a true goddess. And the most logical thing in the end was for him, YZ, to become a god too. As a line in the trailer said by JTY: “I am the moon, you are the sun, forever together in the sky.” And she taught him to love people and fight to save, and never to destroy, despite being mistreated by these same people. (I have never seen a character seem so much like a goddess as this one.)

Not your typical xianxia indeed.
I didn't expect this xianxia to be so different from the usual ones. I did see comments saying it was different, and that got me curious. The first episode got me hooked right away. Its mysterious vibe, portraying the leads as secretive characters, was very interesting. The ML is also a bit of a gray character, while the FL may be kind and empathetic, but she's no pushover. She is someone who has the most beautiful heart, yet the sharpest eyes and is someone who can definitely hold her own. ML, on the other hand, is cunning yet simple. I find the leads very interesting characters.Speaking of the leads, they were rather mature characters. The drama isn't filled with aggressive, passionate love, but rather trust and empathy. It's also about self discovery, and learning what it means to live and love. And this doesn't just apply to the leads, but even the supporting characters as well. The leading characters also required the actors to show more than speak. And because they were characters who gradually grew feelings for each other, but also keeping many secrets from each other at the same time, their dialogues were sometimes hidden with subtle messages and feelings. This was when the actors' skills really shone, because they portrayed them so well. It wasn't underwhelming or overdone.
I've seen people criticize the cast, saying that the actors are too old to be playing xianxia. But I feel so sorry for them having such a narrow vision. Just as dramas can revolved around people of all ages, why can't xianxia be the same? Plus, this story revolves around characters who have lived for quite a while. They're not some young blood, eager to prove themselves. They are beings who have gone through a lot. It only makes sense for more mature actors to be playing these roles. There may be younger actors who are good in acting, but portraying roles like the leads in this drama definitely require someone who has more experience and understands the layered emotions. I think Tang Yan and Liu Xue Yi were perfect for these two roles.
This drama has many fun and lovable supporting characters too. Besides the leads, they are also the ones who make the whole journey interesting. I really appreciate dramas that don't just focus entirely on the leads but also make use of the supporting characters to add flavors to the plot. One of the supporting characters that really stood out to me was definitely the war demon Qian Lin. He was a complex character as well, and I think went through the most character growth. The young actor also portrayed him really well, making him an easily likeable character.
Overall, this was a really great xianxia drama. It may be slow-paced, but it's very layered and filled with complex emotions. Yet, the intentions of the leads are very simple. They just want to have a simple, happy, peaceful life. It's true that this drama feels a bit like a slice-of-life xianxia drama. But it doesn't lack the angst from xianxia dramas. For the first three quarters, it's filled with mysteries and comedies. Serious conversations get thrown in once in a while to keep things real. And towards the final quarter, that's when the characters are forced to face reality and have to make a choice, and pay for the consequences of their actions. The romance wasn't burning with passion, but it's definitely one that many would wish for. It's more about giving you a sense of security, sticking to promises, understanding each other, and staying by their side no matter what. It's about choosing that person even though you could've done otherwise. This is why I find that their love is mature, because it's more about stability and trust rather than "who loves who most".

This show has completely captivated me with its intricate and engaging plot. The pacing is perfect, keeping me on the edge of my seat. And the way the writers have developed the characters is truly impressive. Each character feels so real and relatable. The cast is phenomenal, bringing such depth and nuance to their roles. Their performances are simply mesmerizing. I can't wait to see what happens next. This is definitely one of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

Great main couple and worldbuilding, but fails secondary couples/characters
If you only watched the first couple of episodes, then you're missing so much good that comes later. The first couple of episodes are fairly uninspiring due to the basic production and CGI. Everyone, visually, looks kind of just okay. But if you watch all the way to episode 6 and beyond, it becomes so fun and interesting. One of the most unique xianxia dramas in terms of the worldbuilding. The human realm is unique. Because of goddess Wushuang, who was an engineer and innovated a lot of things for the human realm, the world has a steampunk vibe. The culture and clothes are still traditional, but there are some unique items or modes of transportation due to the advanced mechanical inventions. Magic and technology co-exist. (This worldbuilding isn't just for show. It plays into the plot later!)
Another absolutely favorite part of this drama--which really carries the whole show--is the main couple.
The male lead, Yuan Zhong, is a beautiful and detached man. After everything he's been through--which you learn quite quickly in the first 10 episodes--you'll understand why he is the way he is. It makes his actions very logical and understandable. He's a skeptic, especially suspicious of the female lead, Ji Tanyin, and it makes their dynamic so funny.
Ji Tanyin is actually the goddess Wushuang and came down to the mortal realm to retrieve an item that is in the hands of Yuan Zhong. For a couple of reasons, Ji Tanyin chooses to stay by his side until his death. She is committed to her goal. She is mature, logical, and has a strong sense of justice and morality. And it's these traits that really will affect Yuan Zhong, whose heart is cold.
Their relationship is great. Ji Tanyin is teaching him to warm up to the world again. Yuan Zhong is teaching her about the realities of life, having philosophical discussions with her. They are just so interesting, as individuals and as a couple. And their growth and arc, especially on Yuan Zhong's side, is fantastic.
A third favorite thing is the OST. The background music fits really well as well as the original songs. It fits well with every scene.
Unfortunately, that's about as good as it gets. There are some supporting characters who come and go and do outstanding jobs. Sadly, the reoccurring supporting characters don't have interesting arcs--and so then, by the end, they become characters that are just going through the motions, and you don't feel their motivations.
The characters of Zhi Dai and Tanghua, specifically, were meant to be this second couple that we could root for. And, in the beginning, when you learn who Zhi Dai is and how she knew Tanghua, it built this complex history between them and was really fascinating when she left it all behind. But then they reunite again for plot reasons and they just never had an interesting chemistry or dynamic since then. It was so disappointing because the wasted potential.
And then the character of Qian Lin! I'm so annoyed how his character just...stopped having things to do. He exploded onto the screen as this desperate, determined character who had a very specific goal. He was quite interesting! And then, somewhere along the way, he became a very mild character. It's too bad.
Even the villain and their scenes aren't well paced throughout the story...
Overall, you can enjoy this for the strong performances by Liu Xueyi and Tiffany Tang as Yuan Zhong and Ji Tanyin and interesting world and philosophical questions. You might enjoy some of the supporting characters too, but don't expect too much growth or interesting thread for them.

Between Salvation and Ruin—Love Is the Final Key
This drama is far better than its ratings suggest. The story followed WuShuang, a revered goddess who descended into the mortal realm on a mission to retrieve the God’s Left Arm—an artifact of immense power that she had once forged for the Heavenly God TaiHe. Without it, TaiHe remained in a deathlike slumber. But the Arm had chosen a new master: Yuan Zhong, the high priest of the YouHu Clan, whose destiny had been rewritten the moment the Arm fused with him.Taking the Arm back would have meant killing Yuan Zhong—a man WuShuang once knew in his youth. Though he no longer remembered her, WuShuang still saw the goodness within him and vowed to protect him… even if it meant defying the heavens.
But time was running out.
HanNu, another goddess, sought the Arm to revive TaiHe—at any cost. Meanwhile, the vengeful War Demons hunted Yuan Zhong, seeking revenge after he annihilated their clan in a brutal massacre using the Arm’s power. And within his own people, betrayal brewed. DingXu, the cunning leader of the YouHu Clan, feared Yuan Zhong’s growing power—and coveted his blood for its life-extending properties.
Now pursued by gods, demons, and his own kin, Yuan Zhong stood on the edge of fate. His only hope lay with WuShuang, his loyal weapon spirits, and a small circle of steadfast allies.
Could he survive the storm of vengeance, ambition, and divine judgment? Or would the power that once served him now become his undoing?
As a longtime fan of both Tiffany Tang (Tang Yan) and Liu Xue Yi, I was absolutely delighted by their performances in this drama. Not only were they both incredibly good-looking, but they also brought a depth and sincerity to their roles that truly made the characters come alive. Their performance in The Legend of Xiao Chuo (Tiffany Tang) and In Blossom (Liu Xue Yi) impressed me, although these dramas were unfortunately also underrated. Their on-screen chemistry was electric—subtle in some moments, intense in others—and it anchored the entire story beautifully. Tang Yan, in her 40s, looked stunning throughout. While her natural elegance certainly played a big part, I must also give credit to the make-up team and cinematographer for capturing her at all the right angles.
The ensemble cast as a whole was strong, with every actor bringing their role to life convincingly. Special mention went to the four main supporting actors and actresses, who delivered standout performances and added emotional layers and tension to the unfolding drama.
The story itself was gripping—twisty, layered, and filled with unexpected developments. From the start, HanNu might have raised some suspicion, but her true motivations remained elusive until much later, which added to the intrigue. Refreshingly, the plot avoided the kind of illogical or cringeworthy moments that sometimes plagued similar fantasy dramas. Everything felt deliberate, grounded, and emotionally resonant.
Costume-wise, the designs were elegant and fitting for the tone of the drama. The sets were well-done, though the backdrop could have used a bit more variety. It felt at times like a mid-tier budget production, but that never compromised the storytelling or acting quality.
The ending was far from a fairytale. Of the two central couples, neither found a happy resolution. Yet, the finale left just enough openness to stir hope—perhaps one couple might reunite someday, if the one left behind chose to embrace divinity and wait across time for his love to return.
Overall, this was a drama that stayed with you. It might not have had the flashiest costumes or the grandest sets, but it more than made up for it with strong performances, compelling storylines, and emotional depth. Definitely worth watching.

Impressive and engaging xianxia drama!!!
A moment but forever, has made me hooked to it right from the first episode. The plot was very interesting with a smooth pace, good locations and sets and excellent acting of all the actors. The story revolves around Goddess Wushuang, who sets off on a mission to retrieve the divine left hand, from its current host,Yuanzhong, the high priest of immortal clan.On her journey, she discovers that Yuanzhong is a good person and, quite different, from the rumoured image he has.
Whether she succeeded or not is what forms the rest of the story.
Well, Yuanzhong, played by Liu Xueyi, steals the show with his calm demeanor, elegant body language and perfect and on point acting. His portrayal is a major delight to watch. His acting as a calm, smart, peaceful, decisive, loving and caring Yuanzhong is truly one of the major assets of this drama.Totally outstanding acting👍👌
Tiffany Tang as Ji Tanyin is really phenomenal.I think this is the best portrayal of a goddess so far of all the dramas I have watched.Ji Tanyin is kind, helpful, smart, elegant, stubborn, strong yet firm, amiable, and caring.Tiffany Tang has surely excelled in playing this role😍❤️
I liked the conversation between the main leads and also their chemistry was good to watch. The romance track between them and the development in their relationship is truly delight to watch.
The scenes of Zi Fei,Mei Shan,Lu Chen,Yuniang,A Xiu,Kai Shan,Quan Lin,Xue were good.
All the other actors were excellent in their roles.
Action scenes were also good.
Finally, the best xianxia drama for me with solid plot, great performances and few hilarious moments.
It is definitely on my rewatch list.👌👍

Enjoyable & Worth Watching
Finally found another worth watching Liu Xueyi drama =)Both ML & FL did a very good job carrying this drama until the end especially ML. ML's on point character portrayal & acting diversity shines in this drama. FL although a bit lacking in certain aspects, is still compatible with the series vibes.
Love the chemistry between the supporting casts especially the weapon spirits.
A bit draggy in the romance aspects but excels in delivering the humor & the melancholy.
Overall this is a very entertaining drama, hoping for the success for all of the casts & director. =)

Liu Xue Yi plays those morally grey characters like nobody else!!!!!
Coming into A Moment But Forever after the anime, I was hopeful. Hopeful that the drama would keep the emotional core intact while adding layers only live-action can give. And in many ways, it does. But as I sit here, 24 episodes in, I find myself still waiting for the emotional breakthrough, for the love that’s been brewing beneath the surface to finally rise to it.I appreciate that the drama chose not to follow the anime beat for beat. The divergence is welcome. It gives the story breathing room, a chance to explore new angles. But I also can’t help but wish that the leads had been allowed to embrace their feelings sooner. Instead, we’re still caught in this careful distance. It’s frustrating — because I feel the story is clearly aching to unfold.
Liu Xue Yi is, without question, the soul of this drama. He brings a remarkable level of depth and complexity to Yuanzhong, a character shaped by immense loss and years of restraint. Liu Xue Yi excels at portraying grey characters that walk the line between light and shadow and Yuanzhong is no exception. His quiet strength, his barely-contained power, and his nuanced emotional shifts lend credibility to a man who has been locked away for six decades, yet remains a formidable presence. One that even the clan elders do not dare to underestimate. His performance holds both tension and vulnerability, which creates an internal conflict that is compelling to watch.
Tiffany Tang’s return was something I looked forward to... And struggled with. I loved her in Princess Weiyoung, and seeing her here felt almost like seeing an old friend. But that warmth faded quickly. As Tanyin / Goddess Wushuan, she feels distant, stiff — especially in scenes that were supposed to carry emotional weight. It’s not that the character needs to be overtly expressive, but there’s a lack of spark between her and Yuanzhong that’s hard to ignore. She reacts, but rarely resonates. It’s as if she’s reciting grief and longing, rather than feeling them. And that makes it difficult to believe in the love story the show keeps telling us is central.
There is a relationship that does feel emotionally grounded: Yuanzhong and Tang Hua. Their friendship carries the weight of betrayal and the slow, painful work of forgiveness. The moment Yuanzhong chooses to let go of his anger toward Tang Hua, despite learning the truth about his family's murder is heartfelt. It’s a reminder that trust, when rebuilt, can be more powerful than resentment.
Also, about Tang Hua — him and Zhi Dai have something quietly sweet building between them, but it’s so slow. They’ve waited a lifetime already, and it’s starting to feel like the drama is dragging its feet. There’s this gentle connection between them. But at this pace, it’s in danger of being buried under the weight of all the other plots. These two deserve more than subtle moments and glances. I’m hoping the drama gives them the space to truly blossom before we’re all left waiting another lifetime.
Then there’s Fu Jiuyun, introduced to Yuanzhong and Tanyin by the ever sympathetic Mei Shan. Jiuyun's arrogance is both intriguing and amusing, but what’s more interesting is what he brings out in Yuanzhong. The quiet storm of jealousy, the way Yuanzhong’s barely-maintained composure begins to slip, tells us more about his feelings for Tanyin than any romantic speech could. The restaurant scene, where she leaves him waiting while meeting Jiuyun, says everything he cannot: the way he lashes out about the cold noodles isn’t about food, it’s about pain. It’s the only way he knows how to voice a heartbreak he doesn’t feel entitled to. Because Yuanzhong is caught in a contradiction — he doesn’t trust her, even though he wants to. She’s died for him, twice. She’s proven, in every way that matters, that he’s her choice. And yet, he still doubts. Still holds himself back. But when that other man comes into the picture, all that doubt becomes panic, and that panic erupts. He’s in love with her, desperately so, and yet can’t seem to stop questioning her. And that’s what makes it so painful to watch. He’s not just afraid of losing her. He’s afraid he might never be able to let himself believe in her.
One aspect I genuinely struggle with is the inconsistency in how Ji Tanyin sees Yuanzhong. She forgives Qian Lin, a LITERAL war demon, with barely a pause. She never shows any prejudice toward his kind. There are good and bad people everywhere, irrespective of their race. But the moment Yuanzhong’s potential transformation into a demon is mentioned, she recoils, immediately questioning him. It undermines her own moral compass and feels unfair, especially given everything Yuanzhong has endured. It’s hard to reconcile her actions with the values the show claims she upholds, and it adds a layer of cognitive dissonance that detracts from her character’s depth.
At 24 episodes in, I’m still watching. Hopefully, the remaining episodes will bring more emotional resolution and a deeper sense of connection between the leads.

⚠️ UPDATE : To be fair, a friend pointed out an important nuance that recontextualizes Tanyin’s reaction. In the drama, Yuanzhong isn’t facing the risk of turning into a demon in the typical "race/species" sense — like Qian Lin, but rather something far more insidious: a perverse, demonic heart. It’s not about bloodline, but about internal corruption. When that dragon in the sea of consciousness speaks of the one that wants to devour him — it is a metaphor for Yuanzhong losing himself entirely to darkness. The series plays with both interpretations of “demon,” and the translation likely blurs that distinction.
Still, even understanding this, I can’t help but feel disappointed by the way Tanyin reacts. No heart, as demonic as it might be, is beyond redemption — especially when it’s still clinging to a ray of light. Yuanzhong has already shown that he’s fighting to hold on, and instead of responding with suspicion, Tanyin could have chosen faith — could have looked for a way to help him stay on the path.
But perhaps the real flaw lies in the premise she set: allowing him to live with the divine hand under the condition that he is “good.” It wasn’t trust; it was a conditional reprieve. And the moment that condition seemed at risk, her judgment was swift. That lack of grace cuts deep, not just for Yuanzhong, but for me as viewer who has been rooting for his redemption all along.
