It’s been a year I haven’t heard japanese speech and in the beginning It was kinda..perplexing? But after 10 minutes I got used to it. It is my first japanese BL drama, that’s why I decided to write a review about it.6 episodes, 23 minutes each. How could they put so much passion and meaning in just 6 episodes, while the other dramas consisting of 12 or more episodes still leave me doubting the execution and having some unanswered questions concerning the plot.This was a magnificent drama with ravishing cinematography and actors with insane chemistry.
It’s about soulmates. They had encountered even before their first meeting, which was just a miraculous reunion. This is so heartwarming! The fact that Ritsu fell for Fumiya after amnesia is significant!
Everything was so…japanese? Japanese movies are peculiar for me with their unique colour scheme, which create the atmospere and the overall mood. They used shades of blue, brown, yellow and grey and created a sense of tension and harmony at the same time. Absolutely loved it!
If you have already watched all the essentials of Thai dramas and everything you come across is just shitty leftovers, I advice you to pull the plug on hesitating and jump straight into watching this. It is easy to binge-watch but feel satisfaction and ease after.

Beautifully filmed adult and bittersweet BL story but not exempt of flaws in the writing and ending
I liked a lot the premise of the story, with the amnesia trope at the centre of the show. It is interesting to see the couple at various stage of their relationship, as well as their behaviours before and after the amnesia plot device. The main default for me is the ending which felt a bit too easy given the context. I had some trouble to believe that they were able to move through some of their past and present issues as at the end it does not seem that the characters have evolved that much. I was clearly team Ritsu and maybe that is why I am a bit frustrated by the conflict resolution and the discussion leading to it.The two main male leads interactions felt comfortable overall: they did not shy away from physical touches as it is often the case in the Japanese BL productions where even a simple kiss seem to be an unattainable target. It is not the best performances I have seen but they do a more than honourable job together. The secondary characters are totally transparent which make sense given their little screen time in this short length drama.
I found the soundtrack quite lovely with the heartfelt opening & ending songs and matching the overall nostalgia and wintery vibes of the series. The production value was great with some beautifully filmed landscapes scenes. I highly appreciated the artsy atmosphere with the sketches and drawings scattered all across the story.
I would recommend this to people looking for a BL story a bit different, with some real adult and bittersweet vibe but not too explicit. It is a short watch despite some flaws in the writing and its ending, so it is worth giving it a shot.

The wanting to start from the scratch
In a relationship that both parties know will soon end/gradually drifting away from each other, making the wrong decisions. they would do everything to save it and think about how nice it would be to just restart and this series made it happen. It's a cool idea came to life for people who has the same experience or just curiosity, this is perfect reflection of it. I personally don't have any experience on relationships(TT) but this made me understand that through a happy ending comes another story and obstacles that a relationship has to go through to last and survive. It's somehow relatable(?) cause I have experience on at least witnessing relationships breaking apart.This is a series for people who can withstand heart wrenching moments, the watcher is like in Fumiya's position, we know everything that's going on while Ritsu doesn't and it just makes me feel things that Fumiya feels such as guilt and regret cause of turning a blind eye and erasing the visual presentation of their past love while inside, you still keeps those memories with you.
One thing that I don't like is how in the end where Ritsu regained his memories and they reconcile, they straight up just end it right there. Like after all that I went through! The heartbreaks, longing and sadness I felt and I didn't get to see at least one episode of them being together TT but just a split seconds or a minute.

With the amnesia/lying being the main plot, I thought the flashbacks were used well to show how their past relationship was and what Fumiya was hoping to return to.I did feel they packed a good amount of emotions and depth into the first 5 episodes. I think ep 6 could have been 10 minutes longer to make the resolution more satisfying for me but I still saw what they were going for and I think they achieved what they wanted to with the memories come back scene and then confession.
Not a perfect series but I think it's pretty high up there for how the series kept the emotional stakes high even with relatively not a big action oriented plot. A birthday party goes awry and then it's a weird slice of life second chance romance.

Very Unique BL Story
This was a really good drama with a few twists throughout the episodes that make for a very interesting story. Both Ritsu & Fumiya and extremely likeable characters in this and you really want things to work out after the accident, which causes the unusual memory loss.You kind of are expecting something bad to expose what Fumiya has been doing in keeping the past a secret to Ritsu, but you really can't figure out how that's going to play out.
Once everything is exposed, you really hope, but are not sure how things will be corrected. Kyoya Honda & Suzuki Kosuke both do a great job on screen struggling to bring things together again. It's enjoyable to watch them work it out.
I really liked the ending. I thought it was a great finish to a unique BL story.
Definitely worth watching.

I adore Fumiya as he was relatable for me not having the confidence to speak my mind towards others. I understand the reason why he wanted to keep it a secret as this was his second chance to start over.
However pre-accident it seemed the relationship was toxic with Ritsu never having time to spend with his boyfriend and Fumiya putting up with it.
Ritsu I believe came out a calm person and actually enjoyed the new experience
The flashbacks I really enjoyed as it was sweet to see the past

the realistic representation we all are looking for
I watched this when it was ongoing and im not the type of person to make theories about shows BUT I JUST COULDN’T WAIT for the next episodes!!!! The most important thing about this show is definitely the acting and the character’s dynamics. The acting is INCREDIBLEEE like it actually makes you believe they are real people LIKE ITS JUST SOOO REALISTIC and also the way the characters are written speciallyyy fumiya. If you like cute, fluffy but also sad and dramatic BL dramas, definitely watch this!! Its got everything you could ever want from a series (yes, including 18+ scenes but dont get your hopes up about that)There s something about japanese dramas that makes you either cry yourself to sleep, punch something or blush from all the cuteness. In my opinion, its worth watching!!
The acting, the story, everything its so well thought of im proud of myself for waiting every week for the episodes even tho i dont like having to wait and not being able to watch it all in one go. But i really didnt mind waiting for this one.

Frostwork
Jack o' Frost is a very pretty drama that simply lacks any real substance. It has an artistic quality to it that is certainly pleasing to the eye but beyond that I just didn't find much to really recommend it. Due to it's short length, it's characters inevitably lack depth and the story itself isn't what it could have been. Even so, it's decent enough for what it is.On paper the story sounds intriguing. Two lovers live together, but after a fight one night, one of them runs out and ends up getting hurt, the end result being he's an amnesiac, but specifically, he can't remember his lover or anything related to him. It's a promising concept and there's a variety of ways the story could go; I can't say that I love what they did with it. Fumiya decides to take it as a second chance. At least, that's what he says. His actions though, don't match up. Up until Ritsu figures out that they had been together before his accident, Fumiya toes the line between roommate and lover, clearly wanting to step over it, recalling in flashbacks his relationship with Ritsu, but also very consciously NOT stepping over it even as Ritsu begins to reveal his growing attraction for Fumiya. It's a conundrum that's never really fully explained other than a brief mention that leads me to think that fear was the overwhelming reason, fear that Ritsu would regain his memories and the game would be up.
Fumiya doesn't present as the most sympathetic of characters, but I found him interesting in that aspects of him were realistic, particularly his tendency to bottle his emotions and then explode. While I don't think that part of him was well explored, I do think the idea of it at least was relatable. I also can't say that his decision to remain silent about his relationship with Ritsu was the way to go, I think it was quite selfish. But on the flip side, how many of us wouldn't jump at the opportunity for a second chance at certain relationships, events, moments, etc.? Again, this was another aspect that I found made him realistic.
Ritsu was a far more ambiguous character due to his amnesia. Without a past to define his present, he was instead defined by his lack of memory and his uncertainty. And since the story is primarily told from Fumiya's point of view, that added another layer of disconnect. It all added up to make it harder to relate to him. In general, I found him to be rather boring. Perhaps it was deliberate, but I did find the contrast of him having a rather dull character compared to his more vibrant/interesting artwork was the one thing that gave him some degree of dimension.
There is an underlying theme that even if you are given a second chance, it means nothing if you don't fix the problems that were there to begin with. However, that theme doesn't seem to be put into practice as the leads undergo very little character development and seem destined to end up right back where they started.
The acting was hit or miss. Of the two, I think I preferred Suzuki Kosuke's performance. I did like their chemistry overall. It was nothing earthshattering, but a more subtle kind, and I thought it suited the drama.
I liked the progression of the drawing in the end credits. It was a neat way to incorporate Ritsu's talent with drawing.
I really enjoyed the music. The background music was beautiful and was well used. I also liked the opening and closing songs though I don't feel they really fit with the tone of the drama.
Jack o' Frost is not one of my favorite Japanese BLs that I've seen but I still found it to be charming in its own way. If nothing else, it's artistic quality and tone makes it worthwhile and the story isn't bad, I just think it could have been better developed. Given it's short length, it's an easy watch for a lazy afternoon.

You’ll walk away with that warm fuzzy feeling.
Okay, Jack Frost really hit me in the feels. 😭 It’s a short Japanese BL about Ritsu, an illustrator, and Fumiya, a salesman, who fall in love after meeting at this cozy old café. But then their differences start clashing—Ritsu’s all carefree and artsy, while Fumiya’s more grounded and conventional. They fight, Ritsu leaves, gets into an accident… and wakes up with zero memory of Fumiya. 😢What I loved the most? The chemistry between the two leads. Like, seriously, it was so good. They looked amazing together (both are ridiculously beautiful lol) and their acting was top-tier. Every scene between them just felt real and full of emotion. Even the silence between them had meaning. 🥺
Also, omg—the cinematography?? Gorgeous. Every single scene was so aesthetically pleasing. Soft, moody, emotional… just chef’s kiss. 🎨✨
The story itself? Solid. Not super dramatic, but more on the quiet, emotional side. I liked how it was more about feeling than flashy plot twists. The whole journey of rediscovering love after memory loss—yeah, I’ve seen that trope before, but here it just felt… warm and real. 💛
Also, it’s really short, so you can totally binge it in a day (I did ). It’s like watching a soft, sad, romantic poem unfold. You’ll smile, maybe cry a little, but you’ll walk away with that warm, fuzzy feeling.
If you love slow-burn, emotional BLs with pretty visuals and actual chemistry, def give Jack Frost a watch. 💫

This was so cozy
I didn't expect to like it that lot!The acting was great! Even with small gestures they transport so many emotions and messages, I am really impressed. They were able to express so much and for me it was totally understandable how they felt and what they thought, even without big words or gestures. I was able to understand each one and why they made the decisions they made. ^^'
Ritsu is just wholesome. He's so cute and looks absolutely like a mischievous fairy. Both lead actors were perfect for their roles! I also liked that there weren't many sidecharacters. The show focuses mainly on Ritsu and Fumiya. That's good! And also Fumiyas actor does a great job! He nailed to express the inner conflict, Fumiya felt, so perfectly.
I also really liked the OST! It was so fitting and the whole atmosphere were kinda cozy. Also there clothes were really nice, haha. I don't comment often on the outfits, but they looked really good and I love Ritsus hair! Because it's set in winter and it's always cold, the atmosphere is just magical and, like I said, cozy, when they wear their pretty oversized pullovers.
It's just so calm, but full of emotions! The locations were great and really helped to transport the whole feeling.
The chemistry got me every time. The tension between them really made my heart flutter.
I also liked the flashbacks' placement. It totally makes sense and gives a lot to the story to understand both sides better (and also understand that Ritsu wasn't the bad guy here! Just watch carefully and you get the little hints here and there).
The little details in this shows are really cute (pay attention to the picture in the ending sequence of every episode :) )
It's a show that shows (lmao) how important healthy communication is. How important it is, to take care of each other and appreciate each other.
Totally recommend this. Probably gonna rewatch it, or at least some scenes of it. They are way too cute with each other and it's just a wholesome show.

Cozy, cute, complex
This show is literally my all-time favorite comfort show. The characters are well rounded, well acted, well written. The plot is interesting. The cinematography is so cozy and beautiful. The actors are gorgeous. Almost all plot is executed logically and with great pacing. The few slightly steamy (not even really steamy) scenes were great and fit well. Great to rewatch as well. 10/10 would recommend. Also appreciation for Ritzu's hair please, it looks so good. Anyways, to wrap it up: literally such great, cozy show.Was this review helpful to you?
