Jin E’s assistant accountant swindles a large amount of their savings while withholding payment for workers. Yan Xi discovers that Master Hua’s page he’s been looking for is Hua Zhi. Though Hua Zhi can’t remember the face of the nanny visiting his mother, another clue leads him to the mastermind behind his mother’s death. Grandmother Hua’s daughter visits to try to make Fudong her husband’s concubine.

Some women are just evil and use all kinds of excuses to justify their actions. They blame everyone else for the fallout when things go south. Luckily, grandma has got a sweet little innocent bringing her roasted chestnuts. Yanxi will have to seek solace elsewhere. Where do you suppose.

I had suspected the culprit from the start but couldn't fathom the reasoning behind it. What a convoluted way to think, that someone's death would solve problems for someone else. That's palace intrigue for you. So much pain for Shaoyao and Yanxi.
What's been surprising is that even with the reveal that YanXi works for the government's scary bureau, Hua Zhi still trusts YanXi. I guess she has gotten to know him well enough, or is she being naive?
