Host Club BL done right, unlike Time the series

Well, time the series did have a half-baked time travel element to it while this show doesn't, but im mostly talking about the shared similarity of both shows settings being a host club.

I'd say my biggest gripe with this show was the rushed ending for the side trio. The three characters could have been a lot more developed and would have been really nice to see how the three thrived in the poly relationship. But all we got was a 30 second or so sexualized scene of the three making out and one rushed conversation. That being said, I am grateful for the trio all getting their happy endings with each other. A bold move I genuinely didn't expect them to go with.

Besides that I overall enjoyed this BL. Aside from Time, this is the only BL I've scene which is set in a host club. Which probably goes without saying but really helps with the aesthetics of this show. Deep Night takes this very specific vibe and rubs with it throughout the entire series. With the lighting, set dressing, costuming, it was just really nice to look at is what I'm saying. The actors also all really portrayed their parts well, the only issue being that some of the R18+ felt a little awkward to me. Specifically the hand job and dream sequence scenes near the end. Felt very tacked on just for the sake of having something sexual thrown in when it wasn't necessary at all.

Deep Night is more of a matter over substance BL in general, since it's messaging and story doesn't really bring anything that new to the table. And when it does its near the end or gets very little attention put towards it, like with Ken, Japan, and Seiji. Not to mention Freyja and her girlfriend, whose entire arc got established and solved within two scenes.

So if you're looking for a BL with strong vibes and an appealing cast. By all means, enjoy your visit at Deep Night. I sure did.

a bunch of handsome lads walking around

I dont quite get it how all these handsome lads got born in the first place, since everybody around here is either gay or les, even the mother of the ML!
The narrative is hardly there, just some fake problems popping up to keep the story going, say: I've never heard of universities according or retracting scholarship based on the job/ personal life of their students. The 2nd ML - the 1st host - is not up to the character, and the hairy guy in a dress is simply grotesque. All those pumped up guys are softies at heart and cry easily.
Honestly, it's not much to see here. Oh, maybe just the muscular torsos flashing under different excuses, like sharing a bathtub. Some steamy kisses, some implied dirty lil things - a handjob and a threesome... all under the umbrella of "free love". And of course the "traditional" product placements!
Big waste of time.

Is that all?

It's actually a fun ride, I quite like the journey following this series, I really enjoy the chemistry between the characters (especially the main couple who have been together from the start so there are lots of moments to enjoy, I'm a bit tired of the "confused phase" in BL lol) , the plot is also light and easy to follow, it's not long-winded (like some Thai BL where I dropped, usually because the long-windedness to lengthens the duration), but in my opinion overall it's just ordinary. There's no after taste. Not bad, but nothing special either.

In my opinion, the conclusion about the side couple, Japan-Seiji-Ken, is too late. I like it, but it's too late. And it's like, okay, that's it?

But overall I recommend it for people who are looking for something to watch while filling their time. 🤣

Just a bit too slow

I really liked the characters! they are all more or less likeable and interesting. 6 is my usual rating for shows that were okay to watch, but are nothing special or didn't hook me emotionally + annoyed me here and there a bit, but I liked the crew so much that I added 0,5. And for people who care for looks: Eyecandy is served well. I mean, especially the main couple and Seji and Japan look so handsome, geez. Seji really stole my heart, lol. But the female couple is also absolutely gorgeous! Everytime I say Freya i was like "goddamn, what a pretty human being T_T".

The music was okay. the title song is nice, but sometimes the bgm was weird. :D

I don't really get why the throuple is so hyped, since they only got together in the last minutes of the last episode. ^^' The dynamic between those three was so weird (Ken obviously didn't like Pan much most of the time) till this point and as much as i crave relationships that are different from monogamy, i would have loved to see a proper built up here. Pan just offering this because Seji looks so sad all the time left a bad taste behind. The scenes afterwards helped a bit to clean this feeling, but I would have just loved to see how they are properly established and behave in a relationship. To see that Ken and Pan also get along well and not just Pan tolerating it, because Seji and Ken look on the edge of tears all the time. x)

I watched a bunch of scenes in double speed, because it was just sooo slow, geez.

But for the rest, it was okay to watch. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, because I don't think the story is strong or the relationships are fleshed out enough. It's a lot of the same, repetitive stuff.

Addition, that doesn't influence the rating: Oh. My. God. The subtitles on iQIYI were horrible. :'D

Pointless

I'm surprised i made it as far as i did. There are some interesting ideas here, but nothing was done well. This was boring and unbelievable. I gave up when the ML's lesbian mother was worried that her gay son would have an issue with her being in a same-sex relationship. Make it make sense! All they had to do was write that the ML "might" (because these are technically adults, not children) have been concerned about his mother beginning a new relationship, regardless of who with, after her divorce from his father.

I've read that there's a throuple, but from what i saw, there was no indication that things were headed in that direction. I saw the bff walking around like a lost puppy because the guy he has secretly loved forever chose someone else. The two guys who were vying for the affections of what's-his-face never seemed to even like each other as friends. What they have is not a throuple, it's just one guy having an open relationship and getting to sleep two guys (one that he likes romantically and one that he feels guilty for not liking romantically). Yeah, this is healthy and will totally work out.

The Auntie did nothing but scream and "act" like she auditioned for the worse melodrama ever.

I wonder if this is really the way hosting works. Ppl pay lots of money just to sit next to you and drink and maybe hug you a little or kiss your cheek?! Really? Sign me up! If that's all there was to this line of work, there would be no stigma or scandal.

Atuação e Perfeição Em 8 Epsódios.

Provavelmente um dos bls mais interessantes das últimas temporadas. O roteirista se aprofunda em um tópico bastante específico e sabe aproveitar o tempo, isso faz toda diferença! A GMMTV também deu uma investida em novos rostos o que foi plausível, tirando o velho clichê.
O escritor também não perde tempo, é como se ele pensasse “eu só tenho 8 episódios para impressionar, não tenho tempo a perder", e eles fizeram mais do que apenas impressionar, entregaram uma obra! Então, está aí a prova que nem sempre muitos episódios são sinal de uma boa trama, é preciso está atendo atuação dos atores, (se eles estão interagindo de fato) e se os pontos da história estão sendo coesivos.

**My Review (Episode 8/8)**

My opinion is unlikely to change.

This is a drama made to pass the time, meaning it lacks great depth. It's pleasant, but that's all.

**Characters:**

**K:** Honestly... aside from being apparently "handsome" and having his teeth redone like three-quarters of the actors in the country, he doesn't really have a personality. In fact, I would say none of the characters have well-developed personalities. He's there to look good... he doesn't contribute anything to the story... well, I wouldn't even call it a plot because there isn't one.

**W:** It's the same... he has no personality, but again, I don't think this drama was made with the goal of character development but just to pass the time, so that's fine with me. Number 1, even though he's 1.70m tall and 19 years old... I doubt it... he's cute, but that's it.

**S:** He's the most interesting character... but again, he's not very deep... he has a bit of a personality that shows when he's with Ken...

**K:** He's one of the more complex characters, which isn't saying much... I don't understand how he doesn't have more importance.

**J:** Did you ask for a useless and truly uninteresting character? Here he is... honestly, he annoyed me. At what point do you dare to come between two men when you know that one of them has been in love with the other since childhood... it's not like he's been madly in love with S for months... he doesn't even know him. He should have stayed in his place and made sure that K's feelings weren't reciprocated before trying anything with S.

The two women are cute together...

I lament the fact that this is a typical drama. By that, I mean a drama where none of the characters are not gay even though there are about ten of them... and we have to endure seeing people dressed as women, degrading the image of drag and other forms of expression...

Well, I gave it a 6 for the acting, which isn't bad, and for the originality of the host theme.

In short, a drama to pass the time but one that won't be remembered, and I would add that including NC scenes every 5 minutes doesn't make it a mature drama.

Nähe im Schatten von Vorurteilen

Hinweis: Folgende Zeilen stellen meine persönliche, subjektive Einschätzung der Serie dar.
Deep Night gehört für mich zu meinen liebsten BL-Serien. Die rosarote Brille kriege ich bei dieser Serie nicht vollständig ab.
Was mich sofort abgeholt hat, war der Nachtclub als Setting. Er war nicht nur Kulisse, sondern fühlte sich wie eine eigene kleine Welt an. Die akrobatischen Darbietungen waren beeindruckend, ästhetisch und haben dem Ganzen etwas Besonderes gegeben. Auch die Atmosphäre war stimmig: sinnlich, manchmal laut, manchmal überraschend leise.
Ein weiterer Pluspunkt der Serie sind für mich die Charaktere im Club. Jeder einzelne wirkte eigenständig, hatte seinen eigenen Charme und war sympathisch. Selbst Nebenfiguren haben sich nicht wie bloße Lückenfüller angefühlt, sondern wie Teil eines Teams. Genau dieses Gemeinschaftsgefühl trägt wesentlich zur Atmosphäre der Serie bei.
Natürlich hat die Serie auch seine Schwächen. Die Bösewichtin war für mich stark überzeichnet, laut und nervig. Sie war eher eine Karikatur. Auch innerhalb der Geschichte gab es Momente, die für mich nicht ganz nachvollziehbar waren. Manche Konflikte wurden zu schnell, zu einfach oder sehr bequem gelöst, was stellenweise unkreativ wirkt.
Deep Night ist eine BL Liebesgeschichte, bringt aber deutlich mehr mit als nur Romance. Die Serie greift gesellschaftskritische Themen auf: Vorurteile, Doppelmoral, soziale Rollenbilder, Status und Arbeit. Es gibt Tiefe, Charakterentwicklung und moralische Grundsätze, ohne dabei belehrend zu wirken. Die Serie ist erwachsen und kratzt an ernsten Themen, geht aber nicht tiefer ein, vermutlich um die Geschichte nicht unnötig komplex werden zu lassen. Das kann man kritisieren, ich persönlich kann diese Entscheidung aber nachvollziehen.
Schade fand ich allerdings, dass die GL Storyline insgesamt zu wenig Raum bekommen hat. Inhaltlich wäre sie sehr spannend gewesen und hätte gut zu den gesellschaftlichen Themen und den dargestellten Vorurteilen gepasst.
Deep Night ist für mich trotz einiger Schwächen eine starke, erwachsene BL Serie mit Charakter, Atmosphäre und Ästhetik. Sie verbindet Romance mit gesellschaftlicher Reflexion. Nicht alles ist perfekt, aber vieles ist mutig, anders und emotional wirkungsvoll.

Это было здорово

Впервые за долгое время, Таиланд у меня уходит в ЛЮБИМЫЕ и на пересмотр много раз. Не хочу писать много слов, тк уже мало кто смотрит сюжет и всю историю каждого персонажа.
Благодаря этому лакорну, я снова начинаю верить в актерскую школу Таиланда. Простим им плагиат, они и сами извинились, что тоже дает плюс. Плюс все трюки выполняли сами. Молодцы. Единственный, маленький минус. - это создание тройничка. Лишнее, можно было обыграть историю иначе.
