Love for Love's Sake

연애 지상주의 구역 ‧ Drama ‧ 2024
Korean BL, high school setting, student romance. More of a Black Mirror feel but a similar setting and probably similar vibe.

- Both are set in a school setting.
- Both are Korean bls
- Both feature one of the main lead's development from being a loner to making friends and getting along with others as well as gaining a love interest
- Both feature a cute storyline and progression between the two main leads

Both dramas are about an augmented-reality game; while the ML in Love for Love’s Sake gets transported straight into the game and has to live by its rules, the game on the other hand bleeds into the reality of the ML in Memories of the Alhambra and things that occur in the game start to get real consequences. Both has romance.

Unfortunately this recommendation is a spoiler.

Same messages about learning to love life and find those who care about you through a game administered by death its self.

Both have similarly dark time travel/alternate universe plots. What starts off as an interesting back-to-high school hook soon develops into something far more grave. Also, the acting and production of both is very high quality. If you can stomach seeing people who are mentally in their 20s-30s falling in love with high schoolers, then go for it and watch them both.

If you're into BLs that revolve around time travel and fighting destiny with the threat of death hanging overhead at all times, then look no further. Also good for fans of *actually* interesting soulmate plots.

I saw many people saying how the lead characters in Love For Love's Sake are similar/remind them of the ones in Weak Hero Class 1, just in a different universe.

There's a bit of a school-type background in both series. The MCs have very good chemistry together, and one of them is crushing hard on the other (in each drama). BCYD isn't over yet, so no comparison in endings, but I hope it has a similar kind of ending to LFLS.

Both have amazing acting from a pretty young cast - sadly both are short dramas. Here's hoping more will come.

Both are BL dramas that has time travel, with the main character as a depressed/jaded working adult returning back to high school in order to fix things/fix his past. Rearrange is a Thai BL while Love for Love's Sake is a Korean BL.

Both dramas are about a protagonist who is/was not happy in life and is thrown into a new situation (game/past). While fixed on a mission in the new scenario (make Yeowoon happy/protect his father) they discover the main reason why they are there: To be happy themselves and enjoy their youth. Both dramas have an amazing Ost and great acting, not to forget are filled with love for the project by the cast and the staff working on it.

Both are highschool BL dramas that tackle some very dark and heavy topics such as abuse, neglect and depression. The feel of both BLs is very similar in that it can be dark at times, but there is also hope as well.
