story is kind of irritating...

First few episodes were fine, progression was also fine not until the first half of the episodes (ep. 4). The tropes were problematic because some of it wasn't addressed properly; Second leads were fine but needed more screentime 'cause wdym no one else were homophobic except the main cast (characters they play) themselves...? What irritated me the most is the last few episodes, there was this particular scene where it was sooo problematic that it made me lose my interest in watching it. That scene where Taeyi quite literally s**ually ass*ulted Se Heon was NOT addressed properly AT ALL. I expected a redemption arc even if it was just for ONE episode but there was nothing. They acted like nothing happened... LITERALLY. That was the last straw for me. this had potential but putting serious issues like those and just making it seem like nothing happened was not it.

so promising, yet so disappointing

I've never written a review before, but I feel so strongly about how absolutely insane this show was.

the couple's storyline's made no sense, the characters were so wishy-washy, especially Taeyi, he could never decide on a personality. Seheon was honestly just annoying, Juhe was straight up a bad person, and Doyoon was completely normal...until you realised how weird and toxic his romance was. I honestly wasn't in support of a single romance in this show by the end, I was just angry at the characters.

the story overall was just a mush of stuff that wasn't well planned at all, I found myself laughing in shock at scenes that were supposed to be sad because it was so insane. it felt like they skipped necessary scenes between stuff, because things would change out of nowhere making it not make sense. it all just felt so far-fetched and unrealistic. one thing I did appreciate was the portrayal of homophobia, because it is very much real in Korea, but most K-bl's act like it doesn't exist. I'm glad this one had some elements of that to make it feel more real and heartbreaking.

I really liked the overall aesthetic and visuals of it, the colour grading was nice, so I was really hopeful, because I can be very specific when it comes to colour grading, I just wish the story had been good.

I honestly thought the actors weren't too bad, the script was just terrible. how does anyone play such insane characters convincingly? I quite liked Juhe's actor though, he did a good job, but his character felt the most realistic of them, so maybe that's why it was possible to pull off.

I haven't read the webtoon, but it seems like people don't think this is accurate to it and that the webtoon is good, so I think I'll read that instead.

A real waste of time

While the acting is not too bad, all of the characters and the storyline in general have been pissing me off.
I am not even sure how you can like one of the characters, as all of their behaviors are not making any sense. I thought it would get better with time but it's actually getting worse and worse. I didn't manage to empathize with any of them even though I tried.
I really don't recommend it

OVERFLOWING WITH GOOD VISUALS

STORY
There was really nothing new about the story, characters who can't move on from the past, confused guys coz maybe the school they are in are all boys ? Is it ? But I think I have seen some girl students, maybe girls are just separated, whatever and present affected by the past things and sort of. I was able to go through it tho, It was easy to understand and entertaining ! Like off course ! Korean drama makers are so expert with it. Since the drama was short, we are not able to see how Se Joon's Dad finally allowed him to play Jazz as he wanted for me somehow that is the point of the story, like it seems since Se Joon have associated with Tae Yi he seems like became divided, I think it would be better if they have also shown some of SeJoon's enthusiasm on Jazz genre and how he is on fire to become a jazz player, but it is still okay, this drama somehow is about visual and gay romance anyways which they did not lack at all
My favorite parts are the confrontations and their confessing, how straight guys react when someone I mean when a gay says they like them, this is how guys react in real life, it happens in reality, but what does not happen in reality is they are not being liked back, also the suicide part, that is pretty serious and a reality also, maybe we have some awakening here
ACTORS/ ACTING
This is what I hated to Korean BL makers ! They always choose guys with too perfect faces ! Like how are we fans gonna refuse ?! This drama has so much of it ! Junho SeonBae so good looking and sexy ! Do Yoon so great acting ! I wanna have a friend like him ! And so pretty face ! Tae Yi he is like Hyeong Seop, him being silent is so sexy , and this newkid member so pretty face and so beautiful lips ! , the acting is enough and satisfying for me, just right facial expression, good script and the tension is in the air so our eyes are so so full of it.
OVERALL
Visual 100% Gayness 100% HAHAHA and rewatchable 100% STORY so so .. OST so so

Dated and confused ...

I dunno how in the span of 60 days, did I end up from watching one of the best KBLs to one of the blandest KBLs of 2024???

One questions the logic of why the charcters pine after those walking red flags . Getting assaulted and insulted cant be overlooked in the name of love, I mean its 2024 for godsakes. While one can reason it out saying that the characters were kids, their redemption should have had more depth justify that argument.
The shorter duration of the drama hinders the character and storydevelopement significantly. Often times it struggled swinging between the theme of grief and resilence, it failed to stick to one and fumbled its pace and storytelling. Thus the whole drama felt unfinished. I sincerly hoped that charcters had some form of growth , but alas the growth/improvement that they showed comes across as superficial (espl Jung Ha) .
The actors were wonderful , special shout out to Song Han Gyeom and Kim jung Ha.
I really wished that Se heyon and Do yoon came together, they had waaay better chemistry and would not have made the drama feel so dated.

bottom line : great visuals + jazz music + paper thin plot =/= a good drama.

Mixed feelings

I went in to this with high expectations, lots of people hyping this up and putting it up there with some iconic kbls such as Eighth Sense. While there is some good to this show, I was wholeheartedly dissapointed and dissatisfied with the whole of the show after i had finished it. The plot? interesting to a degree. The acting? pretty good tbh. The pacing and writing? could be a lot better. Also theres just some weird stuff in this show; the side couple being bully x victim not handled in a great way? Taeyi basically assaulting Seheon? yeah this is not a show i will come back to. Cool concept, love the arts school setting and how they all play instruments, poor execution. Its 2024 people, lets leave poorly handled abuse in the past shall we

Glad 2 Know Jazz For Two^^

MUST WATCHH❕
_____________________________
The KBL series is the best, providing an interesting storyline that makes the audience curious about the plot of each episode. Opens and ends with an interesting plot, I like it when Han Tae Yi plays a strong man and meets Yoon Se Heon Which is cute and adorable. All the roles played very well, in fact I think 8 episodes is not enough, there should be more episodes even if there could be a season 2! Hahahahah🙏🏻🫶🏻

Since KBL is still hot, let's enliven it so that hopefully season 2 can be made!!! Amenn

Frustrating

Im tired of characters who just hate on the other one for literally no reason and they refuse to talk to them about anything. Very frustrating to watch. And then when you think things are finally moving along and now they're gonna realise they're in love, they get into another fight over nothing becase top refuses to speak.

Als slight spoiler alert/ trigger warning: at some point there is se*ual harrasment. Top starts to force himself and puts his hand under the shirt to touch the bottom (sorry idk their names) even tho he is fighting it and saying no.

Sick of these I'm into you so i hate you characters.

As a For X, I feel like I have an obligation to watch this drama. It's Hangyeom's acting debut after all! Plus this drama has a pretty good blurb that makes me want to see what's going to unravel.

Overall, I really enjoy the story! There is of course some things that made me scratch my head and feel like it could be better than this, but I'm not disappointed in what I've watched.

What I like:
- Jungha! You see, I never read the manhwa before so I never expected Juha to be a hell of a character. Jungha has a rather gentle face so it's really surprising to learn that his characters is like... that.
- The story. As I said, I really enjoy it. I don't know the technicality, about the pacing or whatnot, but it's really better than what I thought it would be. I guess given the work has longer airing time (30-40 minutes per episode??) so I think some of the main points of the plot can be elaborated pretty well.
- The cast! I think aside of Jungha, the other cast feels so perfect to the characters. Jinkwon to Seheon, Hogeun to Taeyi, and Hangyeom to Doyoon. A special note to Hangyeom tho, I also think it doesn't stray too far from what Hangyeom is like as far as I know him as an idol.
- The reveal of Taeyi and Seheon's brothers' relationship! Did that count as plot twist? Because I never really expected it to be that way. It added spices imo, although the resolution might look too easy?? I thought Taeyi would be angrier about it. But I guess at that point, Taeyi only wanted closure about what happened to his brother and won't bother to point fingers and blame whoever made the event happened. Idk.
- The music theme! Although I'm not super familiar with jazz, but the piano playing is really pleasant in my ear. I especially love the ensemble performance and their fall festival performance! Jazz for Two do sound really good!
- While I don't think Doyoon and Juha's relationship change is the best out there, but I kinda like it! It makes me wait for a second season hoping it would explore their relationship.

What I don't really like:
- Juha. Just... I can't relate to him and why he needs to be that mean to Taeyi, Seheon, and Doyoon. Especially Doyoon cause like you can see how smitten Doyoon to Juha ever since their first eye contact. But after a thing that happened in the locker room, I started to be like, "OK, at least you're showing a bit of development!"
- Not that I don't really like but... it's too surprising how Taeyi and Seheon's relationship dynamics changed. Like, the day before, Taeyi was REALLY mean to Seheon, but the next day he's really mellow and suddenly being a simp??? I guess he actually liked Seheon a lot but he's afraid of something. Like his own feelings, maybe? Since after a tragedy, he's pretty much stuck in the past and his feelings for Seheon was something entirely new.
- I also don't really like Juhee in the first two episodes of the drama. But my impression changed afterwards, especially after the karaoke event. Hopefully Juhee can find a better man :)

I want to end it by saying good job everyone who's involved in this production! Thank you for bringing out a story that I enjoy a lot. Especially Hangyeom, good job on your acting debut!!!

disappointing,SA,physical abuse,rushed

first of all i would like to say that acting cast and music was good.Second last 2 epi felt rushed specially epi 7 where seheon get SA but next he forgive taeyi like it was nothing?!?!??like how can you forgive someone easily who just bullied,SA, physical abuse you throughout whole series.toxicity in this series is really concerning.About the second to be couple which got flopped dont have much to say but yeah "meh".Tbh i liked the kiss at the end which is not a deadfish kiss. And people who gave 10 ratings for this series needs a reality check.Sometime it felt like series on its own screaming homophobic. And my review was based on only watching the series and not reading manhwa so yeah overall it was "meh" not bad and not good either.

bamboozled

So cute until ep7., damn he gave me the ICK, man turned full on harassment mode. like what do you mean ur gonna be stuck knee deep in de Nile and TWO seconds later it’s like nothing happened.
Also we don’t talk about the thing with the brother enough. He likes main dude cuz he reminds him of his brother? do we ever talk about it again? nope
SO rushed towards the end. It just makes no sense why they would rush over the most important a part of the plot like that.
The acting is not bad but not good. This boy won’t stop inhaling every time he says something . Once you notice it you can never go back

BL & Jazz FTW !

I just finished this short series with a happy contented smile on my face.
There are some shows that go on and on and you wish they would have cut them in half, but not this one. If I have any gripe it would be that I wished it was longer with way more jazz music shown.

There was great chemistry between the main leads and it would have been great to see this develop more deeply, same for the second couple. I think this 8 episode series only allowed time to skim over the surface of everything that was happening, both past and present, but that being said, it was still very well done.

The story was engaging and interesting, and an unusual take on the usual "BL in high school" shows we get.
It would have been great to see Seheon come to terms with his Father and play him some jazz on that beautiful Baby Grand!
Overall I loved this show and hope for a second season :)
