AMAZING COMEDY

This show is incredible. The comedy genuinely had me laughing out loud. It is light-hearted and funny but still has depth to where the plot doesn't feel insignificant. I wish the ending were a bit better, but apart from that, it's a great show. It's the kind of show you can rewatch whenever you are feeling down; it won't fail to bring a smile to your face!

Peak comedy

If you’re here for an exhilarating thriller action detective show, turn away. If you’re looking for a hilarious yet meaningful work, welcome to this comedic masterpiece!

The plot of the drama is very straightforward: we follow multiple cases that span a few episodes long, and with each case, we learn more about each member's past. The execution of the plot is incredibly charming, and the things the team members put themselves through are hilarious.

There’s something so unpredictable about how they do the comedy (to me). I don’t usually enjoy slapstick too much, but somehow every single one in the show managed to hit all the right spots on my laughter switch. I was cackling for the entirety of the show, and it just got better and better as it went on. Even the fact it starts off with their team having to move to kindergarten temporarily as an office is wild LOL.

Although the story is mainly comedy, it doesn't shy away from heavy topics and heartwarming moments. Their comedy is never derogatory, they treat victims with respect and characters with care. Our main cast may be silly at times(I mean, they are notorious for being bad at this and never failing to disappoint), but they are very human and very real.

Dongbang Yubin— To me, he feels like the centerpiece the team has been missing all along. His addition holds the team grounded with his intelligence and as a team leader, he recognises each of his members' strengths and manages to bring out their potential. He exudes a sense of reliability just by being in the team. He's a bit dorky when he's not working in cases but I'm in love with his goofy smile.

Mu Jung Ryeok— The most experienced team member in terms of the number of years in the field. He's a little grumpy and fiery, but you can tell that he cares deeply for his team and the victims. Anyone who hurts the team can be prepared to eat his fists, even if it hurts himself.

Jung Jeong Hwan— An ex-olympiad sharpshooter and a father of four children. At first, I didn't like him that much because he looked like a bootlicker with little spine, but he grew to be one of my favourite characters. He never hesitates to put others before himself and never stops once he sets his sights on something. Even his desire for promotions and freebies comes from him wanting to provide a better life for his wife and children. Nonetheless, he holds his ground when things really matter.

Seo Min Seo— The capable little sister of the team. She's a little hot-tempered, but she's incredibly observant and kind. It's rare to see a female character that's written not annoyingly in Korean crime dramas, so it's refreshing to see her as such a wonderful addition to the team. She leads the team in her own way as the older one of the youngsters and never disappoints in sting operations.

Jang Tan Sik— The rookie of the team. As a newbie, he's filled with overwhelming passion and energy to work. He gave up the life of a rich chaebol heir to work out in the field, but he never complains as the person though he's probably on his feet the most out of the team. He does have a lot to learn, but he grows fast. Honestly , he gives off golden retriever vibes imo.

The team dynamic was chef's kiss and all the actors were phenomenal!! Everyone in the team takes care of each other in small ways, some of which are really funny, all of which are super cute. Do not walk in with expectations to see competence and superb teamwork right from the start. Their growth and humanity are what make them charming. They very much live up to the native title: 'The Not Powerful but Attractive Violent Crimes Unit'.

Overall, I had a really great time with this drama. Definitely one that will brighten your day.

Police-detective with crime story plot but it's mostly comedic??!! MUST WATCH 10/10

dare to say this would be one of my favorite comedy-action drama. Every case is interesting and not to mention the comedic timing is just... a masterpiece! the case's excecution are also good and fast enough. That way it makes the story plot clear and not too confusing. The actors acting skills are certainly GOOD.

Sleeper Hit for 2024 (comedy, suspense, action)

Sometimes I feel jaded by Kdrama Shows. It becomes formulaic after a while. Then along comes Seoul Busters. It literally busted my jaded attitude and now I am searching for similar new shows to watch.
Like with others have written, I too had little expectation for this show. Most of the main cast members are new to me. I have fallen very hard for Lee Seung Woo. For this reason I am writing this review.
How can a man be so charming, so goofy, so clumsy, and so sexy?!!
He has very little presence on social media. His own IG has very few followers. I think less than 40k. Please go and support him! He really stole the show for me. A close second will be the badass action sequences by Lieutenant Moo. I am so impressed by the fight sequences. And the loud voiced female Corporal was such a riot!!
Lee Seung Woo has mostly been in supporting roles. I hope this time he will be given more main roles. He is so versatile. And in episode 20 we see him bare chested. Oh my heart doctor will not be happy.
The show is fast paced, with good plot twists and great wrap up. Usually by the last episode when all the loose ends are tied up, I can’t wait to fast forward to the end. But with this drama I relished every second. I really hope there will be a season 2 and that everyone comes back to reprise their role. How will grandma Jang react when her grandson did not fulfill his promise? We need answers!!!

Deserves Recognition!!

An amazingly underrated light-hearted drama. Totally amused by every bit of this and undoubtedly a must-watch for everyone. There is no romance, but bromance and friendship is really enjoyable. The cast is outstanding, each actor delivering a memorable performance that makes their character stand out. Seoul busters = stress busters. Cheers!

Like a lake, some time light and fun, other times deep

Starts slowly(7.5-8 initially), and ofc comedy is a major theme but it's not limited to it. Nothing very extraordinary (hence it's more like an 8.25 overall) but whatever they made was very well done, and by the end I felt really attached and got kinda sad as the characters grew on me.
The last comedy I watched was Gaus electronics and compared to that this was much more enjoyable. The backstory of the characters were also very intriguing and made me connect much more to them. The depth part comes when they covered a few cases were you actually understand what makes makes normal people do crime (cos of poverty, revenge when justice isn't delivered etc)..this I really enjoyed

Rewatchable

KDramas are great but (for me at least) most of them are not rewatchable. This one is.
Kim Dong Wook shines. He doesn't stray from character.
I would have liked this without personal story of Kim Dong Wook intermingled but you can't have just one season without personal story.
Teamwork pictured is very believable AND enjoyable.
Setting of police station, where it is located, becomes a character to some extent. I liked that.
They had to rush it in the end which was pity.
Overall very enjoyable (with tiny nuggets of information which I appreciated).

A Slapstick Blast

Seoul Busters dives headfirst into pure, unfiltered slapstick comedy—a rare gem in today's polished K-drama landscape. This ensemble cast of quirky detectives tackling absurd crimes with over-the-top antics, pratfalls, and escalating chaos that had me laughing out loud. It's hella funny, especially if you're craving that old-school vibe of mindless hilarity, like Waikiki. I missed this genre badly; it feels like a breath of fresh, ridiculous air.

That said, not gonna lie—it gets boring at times. The non-stop nonsense slapstick can feel repetitive if you're not fully tuned into that wavelength (and honestly, I'm not always). Some episodes drag with predictable setups and filler bits that test your patience. But clocking in at a breezy runtime, it's still a quick and funny watch overall—perfect for bingeing when you need zero brainpower.

When you are in drama slum but now you got a reason

This year I have the lowest record of completing any dramas and when I start watching one at some point I loss interest or even if any drama intrigued me there are points I just forget about watching them or just can't proceed to next episode but this one is MY TYPE meaning it got humour which I like lol<3

I don't think so after Mr.queen is there really any drama which made me laugh in each and every episodes atleast once , I'm happy this has slice of life as genre which is heartwarming parallels and also the acting is great especially when you know that only acting can make this kind of drama more humourous and attractive and attentive to watch .

Every episodes the way they solve the cases are just ridiculous, Mean it's so funny how they randomly come to the conclusion and the case is somehow solve and when I talk about humor it just doesn't really disrespect or disregards anything or any topic or any concept is just giving you actually fun and jam , if you give second thoughts it might look cringe in some of the funny situation but camera work and vfx does a great job I believe in that case somehow it works.

I'm halfway through watching this drama while I'm writing this review, declaring this as my comfort drama and I never want it to end like for real, hope more shows like this come to me because it's very rare where you get easy laugh on something nonsense genuinely speaking and idk why the character of the show are breaking the fourth wall in each and every episodes TT TT but in the end since this show is giving me excitement to watch next episode I hope many more people watch this show for fun :) and take a bit of rest from daily life choas.

The rating doesn't do the drama any good

For somebody that watches most drama based on review when I saw 7.9 rating at first I was discouraged by the rating started to raise and after watching this film I feel the rating should be above 8.6. I like how unserious they were even in serious situations😂.
Although it's not a romantic drama but I still love it.

100% RECOMMENDED

I just finished watching Seoul Busters, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I binged all 20 episodes in just three days—it was that good! From the very first episode, I was hooked. The drama had the perfect balance of humor and seriousness, which made it so enjoyable to watch. Even though it dealt with crime and intense cases, the humor felt natural and never out of place. It kept the storyline fresh and engaging.
The characters are what truly made this series unforgettable for me. Each member of the Violent Crime Team brought something special to the story. Dongbang Yubin, the new team leader, was brilliant yet unpredictable, his sense of humor and reasoning skills made him such a fun character to watch. Then there’s Mu Jungryeok, the rough around the edges veteran detective who had this surprising charm. I also loved Jung Junghwan’s struggles to support his family while dealing with the chaos of his job. Seo Min-seo was such a powerhouse, with her bold personality, athletic skills and down to earth charm. Jang Tansik was absolutely hilarious with all his mistakes but endless enthusiasm.
The chemistry between the cast was incredible. You could really feel how much they grew as a team over time, and it was so satisfying to watch them evolve into one of the best squads in the nation. The cases they worked on kept me guessing, and I loved how the show managed to stay unpredictable without being overcomplicated.
Honestly, I can’t think of a single bad moment in this drama. Every episode had me either laughing, investigating with them, or cheering for the team. I already know I’m going to rewatch this—it’s just that good. If you’re looking for a show that will make you feel everything, from joy to suspense, give Seoul Busters a try. You won’t regret it!

The Perfect Mix of Laughs, Tears, and Heart

"Seoul Busters" is hands down one of the best K-dramas I’ve watched in a long time. I honestly didn't expect it to hit me the way it did! The cast was perfect, with each actor bringing their A-game, effortlessly bouncing between comedy and drama. I don’t think there’s anyone else who could’ve done these roles justice. Their chemistry is electric, and I found myself laughing out loud with every episode (seriously, I haven’t laughed that much in ages, and my stomach still hurts from it). But don’t be fooled, it’s not all laughs. The emotional moments, especially in the latter half, hit hard. I shed more than a few tears, and it all tied into the storyline so beautifully.

The cases kept me on my toes. I loved the unpredictability of the plot twists and the way the team came together with their unique skills. Their undercover work and fight scenes were pure 🔥. There’s something about this ragtag group of misfits that makes you root for them so hard.

And let me tell you, this show has re-watch value. I'm already planning my next binge. The balance between humor and heart is chef’s kiss. You’ll be laughing one minute, tearing up the next, and then back to cracking up.

The guest stars were a fun bonus too! But now please give us Season 2. I need more of these characters in my life. The show wrapped up everything well, but it left me with that perfect open-ended feeling that screams for a second season.

All in all, “Seoul Busters” is a must-watch. I can't recommend it enough. It’s a unique gem, and I’ll be carrying it in my heart for a long time. 💛
