Stick with it, it is well worth the time!
I'll admit, I'm a big fan of Shen Yue and that's the reason I was excited to watch Smile Code. The clips and trailers make it look like it's a typical rom-com, but it's not. After watching 8 episodes, I can say that It has more depth and heart than almost anything I've seen lately. I wasn't sure of what was happening the 1st two or three shows. Their meeting is not a "meetcute". The lighting is dark and sometimes scary as we get to see what Liang Daiwen dreams about. He suffers from Alexithymia, a condition that renders the person unable to feel or express emotions. This is from a past childhood trauma. In the 1st three episodes we see his trauma, but you can't really tell what it is.GuYi's life is also somewhat dark and scary. She shares a place with 3 others. Things are weird there. By the end of episode 3, it changes. Liang Daiwen moves her into his house for her safety and she gets to see his world. I've only watched 8 episodes, but I can see that there are reactions he has been showing since episode 1, you just don't realize what you are seeing.
This show has 30 episodes. It will take a while to open Liang Daiwen up, but I have no doubt that GuYi is the one to do it! Along the way, we meet others in both of their lives. Even these don't follow the same rom-com pattern.
For Meteor Garden fans, I can absolutely see a parallel with Liang Dai Wen and Dao Ming Si. Both are lost little boys until Gu Yi and Shancai open them up. I can say this because I am watching Meteor Garden concurrently with Smile Code. I'm doing that because MG is my all time favorite and it's going away from Netflix in 2 weeks. Because I'm watching it for the 6th and last time, I can say they both give me the same feelings.
Please don't stop watching Smile Code too early because it seems dark, scary and boring at times. If you leave early you will miss some absolutely amazing moments and storylines!!
So watch Smile Code, stick with it when it's tough at the beginning and trust that It will absolutely be well worth your time! Pretty soon, you too will be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next episode, just like the rest of us!

Smile Code the best drama
Smile Code is a delightful watch with a perfect mix of humor and heartfelt moments. The chemistry between Shen Yue and Lin Yi really stands out. Shen Yue's lively, comedic portrayal of Gu Yi contrasts nicely with Lin Yi's reserved character, Liang Daiwen, creating an engaging dynamic. at first i was a bit concerned thinking i wont like this. was i wrong. I LOVE every aspect of this series the first episode did not have me interested the first time but as the series goes on it just gets better and better. the acting of the actors is phenomenal and the story by itself is very well put together. i can truly see that the creators put a lot of efforts in making this.Was this review helpful to you?

He was able to convey so much with just a look or a pause, which was impressive. On the other hand, Shen Yue completely transformed in her role as Guyi. Finally an original story line!
Shen Yue does everything, drama and comedy on the same story. I’m loving it! The whole cast is amazing. wow China what a production! Hollywood Lear from it. Nothing corny or predictable, Yen Yue and Lin Yi have such a great chemistry and result is high quality product. I highly recommended if you want something new and you want to be thorny entertain. the director did a fantastic job developing the characters. the photography is amazing. everything has been I tentionally done. I appreciate the time invested to present such production. Shen Yue is amazing, she captures the character beautifully and the result is a very human character not a cartoon or unrelatable one, Gu Yi is a dear girl that you’ll be cheering for her and Liang as well. I like Gu Yi's appearance and actions. When she's shy, she's so cute. Especially when she's with Liang Daiwen, they're even more compatible. It's a romance that makes me smile and blush when I watch it. I like their relationship now, where they take care of each other even though the other doesn't see it, like when Liang Daiwen covers Gu Yi with a blanket while he sleeps, or when Gu Yi is careful and watches Liang Daiwen in the middle of the night when he often sleeps and walks out of the room.Was this review helpful to you?

This series I have been looking forward to for a long time. Whenever the trailer or behind the scenes was released, I watched it over and over again without getting bored. When it was announced that Smilecod would be airing soon, it made me happy and excited. And when I watched the first episode until the latest episode, I can say that I did not regret waiting. Brilliant show
The NEW CDrama of 2024, "Smile Code" has awakened Fans from around the world to watch this upcoming story about a young man played by Lin Yi who suffers from Alexithymia. What is Alexithymia? It is a condition where a person is unable to express emotion, and 1 in 10 people suffer from it and their unable to "LAUGH". It is common condition with people that suffer from depression and Autism (ASD).Next, comes the witty, clumsy, and humorous Shen Yue who makes everyone laugh except Lin Yi. They develop a friendship based on coincidences and it sparks a new relationship about Love while still dealing with the aftermath of their past family trauma and circumstances. This is another beautiful love story with 34 episodes and is a must Watch series. This is a drama that is unlike any other drama because it deals with a condition that is not talked about and the only cure is finding another person who has the opposite personality.

LIN YI AND SHEN YUE GREAT ACTOR ACTREES
I really like their roles in this drama, they managed to carry themselves well.I think this is their first drama that is different from previous dramas, and I'm proud of that.
They have very good chemistry in this drama, and this is the first time Shen Yue's hair is long and looks very beautiful

someone said that the title "SMILE CODE" doesn't fit the plot of the story. like tho is he/she even watch it and feel it? but yeah for me this drama is funny also comfort for me in short I LOVE THIS DRAMA NO LONG EXPLANATION INDEED!
