Buying the automaton so they would believe he was behind the kidnappings, so they would take him to the investigation office and he could infiltrate it, was a very good idea.

"Phantom Catcher" is a visually striking dive into Chinese folklore horror. The drama eschews typical romantic subplots, instead focusing its 30 episodes purely on case-solving and political intrigue. Director Zheng Weiwen crafts an eerie, atmospheric aesthetic by weaving in traditional elements like puppetry, Gu sorcery, and Nuo opera, creating a distinct "Oriental gothic" vibe. Luo Yunxi brings a fresh, sharp-witted energy to his role, shedding the gentle nobleman image for a strategist with hidden depths. For viewers seeking a pure, immersive detective experience with a supernatural edge, this delivers a compelling watch.

The first episode delivers an intense, fast‑paced opening full of suspense and mystery. Instead of relying on romantic plots, it focuses entirely on bizarre criminal cases and hidden secrets, bringing a refreshing ancient suspense drama experience.Luo Yunxi’s character Li Si is extremely layered. On the surface, he is an easygoing, elegant young master, yet underneath lies a determined prince seeking the truth of his fake death from seventeen years ago. His brilliant reasoning and bold, risky investigation show extraordinary intelligence and courage.
