Pretty Threads, Loose Ends
Connecting to You has such a cute and genuinely interesting premise. The idea of seeing the invisible connections between people as coloured threads is probably the thing I liked most about this series. It gives the show a visual identity of its own, and I especially liked that the colours and even the way the threads change can tell us something about a relationship without the characters having to say it out loud. And yet, the more I watched, the more I felt like the series didn't quite know what to do with its own concept.
Chia Kai's ability is fascinating, but I wanted the story to actually explore it more. Why does he have no thread connecting him to anyone when he clearly isn't as isolated as the series makes him out to be? He has his grandmother, friends and people around him, and even complicated relationships are still represented by threads. If the point was that Chia Kai was emotionally disconnected from everyone, I needed the story to show me why. Because he is actually quite open and approachable, which makes his complete lack of connections difficult to understand.
The same goes for his ability itself. He suddenly loses it, which made me think we were finally going to learn something important about where his powers come from — only for him to get them back after bumping heads with Ta Wei. That's it. Apparently all it took was a sufficiently dramatic headbutt.
The romance has a similar problem. I really liked Chia Kai and Ta Wei together, and their everyday interactions are genuinely sweet. But emotionally, I often felt like the series was skipping steps. We go from Ta Wei distrusting Chia Kai, to working and living together, to an accidental drunken kiss, to realising they have feelings for each other, and finally to discovering that they actually met as children.
All the ingredients for a meaningful romance are there. I just never felt like the emotional development had enough time to catch up with them.
I also wasn't completely convinced by the childhood connection being used to explain why their thread was so special. It's a cute idea, but because the series had spent so much time making that thread mysterious, I wanted the answer to feel more meaningful than simply finding out that they had crossed paths years ago.
Still, I can't say I didn't enjoy the show. It's warm, funny and easy to watch, and Chia Kai and Ta Wei have a lovely chemistry. The supporting cast also adds a lot of charm, and I liked that the supernatural ability wasn't just there for the romance but could actually be used in the police cases.
In the end, though, Connecting to You feels like a series with a really good idea that needed more time and a little more confidence in its own worldbuilding. I kept seeing glimpses of a much more interesting story underneath the cute romance — and I wish the show had dug a little deeper.

Original and Cherubic
It begins in a very creative and smart fashion that becomes amusing and lighthearted. Easy to watch and simply fun. Unfortunately, it is not sustainable throughout, however. The story catches your attention in the beginning and then begins to bend and twist and finally by the end starts to become untenable. While it may have lost its creativity, the narrative certainly maintained its entertainment value. I thought the cinematography was surprisingly good for this series but needed to be more consistently intense. There were times when we did not see the connections that we needed to. I also did not enjoy the swarth where he lost his ability to ‘see’ connections. I thought that was a cheap shot and completely unnecessary. The threads added surprisingly greater dimension to the story and WAS the story; to take that away, diminished the story. The last special episode makes these two so relatable in a completely ordinary way. They begin to see themselves together as a ‘couple’, having to face challenges that partners who are together needed to face with the one constant being that they must talk about it with each other. It was just a breath of fresh air in a BL series that made a relationship feel ordinary.
Overall, the series is a very entertaining and fun ride. So, I think this series has a little bit of everything for everyone.

A Breath of Fresh Air - Adorable, Sweet and Mature
Ahhh.. it’s been a while since I last watched such a cute and mature Taiwanese BL (or any BL). This is a very quick and lovely binge, since the episodes are short.Lin Chia Kai, a psychology college student, has the ability to see different colored threads connecting people. This ability can definitely cause major inconveniences in his everyday life, but he can also use this ability to help people (or not). “Connecting to You” showed us a few situations to get to know him, and people around him.
The drama moves at a decently-fast pace. Each individual story is short and interesting, and doesn’t give you a feeling that this is an episodic drama. For each story, it helps us get to know Chia Kai, how he grows as a person and his relationship with cop Wu Ta Wei.
The romance is slow-burn but so cute. The leads have great chemistry, and their interactions are fun. I like both of their acting but find I am more attracted to Liu Yu Ren and his portrayal of a standup cop, and an introverted romantic interest. I love his subtle facial expression with a grin, a smile, and quiet longing looks. If you have watched enough Taiwanese BL, you know they are not shy with showing skinship. The romance here is a little more PG or PG-13. We have one excellent kiss, and a few warm and lovely hugs. Don’t expect Taiwan’s famous steamy scenes. Ok, I might want one or two more kisses, but I am OK without the steamy scenes, since that would not be the right tone for this cute show.
Taiwanese humor is a hit-or-miss for me and I am going into this with a side of caution. No worries, my friends. I love the comedy here. The supporting cast is hilarious without being over-the-top. The female cop, professor and grandma are the best. Every single character is absolutely adorable and supportive. There is also some more subtle humor here and there, to contrast the ‘louder’ ones.
The tone of the drama does change to a more serious one towards the last few episodes when we get to know the family background and stories more. “Connecting To You” didn’t really go deep into these stories. It doesn’t have time, nor will it be appropriate as that would not be the fun comedy it sets out to be. It just gives us enough to understand the leads. This could be a plus or minus for you.
There’s only one thing that bugged me enough to note down. Lin Chia Kai telling his best friend about Wa Ta Wei’s father issue. I think that is uncalled for, especially when it took so long for Ta Wei to open up. That’s a secret that is not Chia Kai’s place to share.
Lastly, don’t miss out on the fun psychology podcast/lecture from the hilarious professor in the epilogues. Her podcast is educational yet not boring. I especially like the real-life examples that she uses so the general audience can relate to.
“Connecting To You” is a breath of fresh air in the BL world. It’s sweet, cute, funny and mature at the same time. I’m so glad to wait and binge all 12 episodes. After finishing this drama, it puts me in a good mood, so I can continue on with the rest of the toxic relationships in other dramas.

The perfect cozy feel-good BL for a rainy day
Connecting to You is a lighthearted, pleasant feel-good series that is absolutely perfect for a rainy day. It focuses on being cute, cozy, and comforting from start to finish. The story delivers a classic romance between two opposite characters. While it does not fully follow the typical enemies-to-lovers trope, it definitely captures that charming dynamic. The pacing is a bit on the slower side, but it remains thoroughly enjoyable. Naturally, some classic misunderstandings are thrown into the mix, which causes it to take some time before the leads finally choose each other in the end.
While the fantasy element regarding the threads can feel a bit inconsistent at times, the show completely makes up for it with its bright, cheerful atmosphere and fun humor. If you are looking for a simple, heartwarming, and well-executed comfort show in the lighthearted feel-good genre, this one is a great watch.

Every connection has its own color
I absolutely loved the concept of this drama. We've seen countless supernatural stories, but being able to see the invisible threads connecting people felt genuinely refreshing, and I loved that the meaning behind every color was explained from the beginning. Watching Jiakai and Ta Wei's thread change together with their relationship made their enemies-to-lovers journey even cuter, especially because every new case naturally brought them closer. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters, especially Chaonan and all the fun energy he brought to the story. The comedy, romance and fantasy were perfectly balanced, with colorful visuals, fun music and really good chemistry between the leads. Was this review helpful to you?
And honestly, I am so glad I did! The storyline is incredibly fresh and entirely unique for a BL series. You really have to hand it to the Taiwanese BL industry, they consistently push the envelope and offer brand-new, out-of-the-box themes every single year instead of just recycling the exact same old tropes. The narrative here is so engaging and genuinely fascinating to follow week by week.
I will admit, in the very beginning, I was super annoyed by Chia Kai's character. He was really getting on my nerves! But the further I got into the series and watched his character development unfold, the more he completely won me over. Now, I find myself absolutely addicted to the specific, endearing way he calls out for Ta Wei, it has this undeniable charm that just hooks you completely.
What I find most impressive is how perfectly this series manages to capture my attention and build undeniable romantic tension without relying on explicit bed scenes to carry the weight of the chemistry. The emotional connection and character dynamics alone make it an unforgettable watch that will definitely stick with me. I am officially on the edge of my seat and absolutely cannot wait for the special episode to drop next week!

Simple Review
I really enjoyed this bl, I wished it would have more time, because things felt kinda rushed to be honest. Jiankai has many complex issues that I didn't feel were solved. But it was fun to watch, I gave it an 8, and I feel that is fair.(OMG!!! DaWei has beautiful form, I did not expect that).

This one was a cute and easy watch. 🥹🤍 I liked the chemistry between them and the way their relationship slowly developed. There were some sweet moments that definitely made me smile. 🌸✨Not a new favorite for me, but still a nice little Taiwanese BL to add to the list. 💕📺

can you sew the plot holes with those threads ?
- the main characters are adorable and likeable [✔️]- love story consistent and great chemistry [✔️]
- interesting concept and supernatural elements [✔️]
- interesting side characters that have some depth [✔️]
- the show ends neatly with all questions answered and problems solved [✖️]
honestly why??
it beats me why writers don’t finish up what they started…
obvious question is why he is the only one to see threads?? until the end where we find out that other people can also see thread?? wth? so now why do some people see threads while others don’t? and actually why isn’t the professor paying more attention to this and studying this phenomenon ?? we could’ve gotten the answers that way writers!!!
and why did chiakai suddenly lose his ability to see the threads and then it magically came back again?? don’t tell me it’s because of love, no like what’s the actual reason?? wouldn’t that mean that seeing threads depends on certain factors or environments? wouldn’t that mean that it could be a temporary power that is able to be shut down?
….
it is an artistic expression to let these questions stay unanswered as a way to keep the conversation going but at the same time it makes the show feel more empty ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ than fulfilling….
you started this story and built this universe, but why should i, the watcher, end it?

A light and cute drama
This drama was a nice and light watch, not too much drama, mostly cute and funny.I liked the story about seeing the threads, it was not like the most bl's.
The intro was fun! It had good visuals and music.
The actors did good! I wasn't crazy about the quirky lead, but that is just something i don't like.
Their chemistry and kiss were good.
If you are in the mood for a light watch, this is a drama for you.

I wish for more
I absolutely loved the concept of Connecting to You. It is so different from anything else we’ve seen in the BL genre; it’s light, delightful to watch, and extremely entertaining. The characters are great, the script is very interesting, and even the special effects work really well. I honestly wish it had been longer.
Some storylines end up feeling rushed—especially the romance between the leads. That’s where the series starts to stumble.
There is no actual declaration of feelings, no heart-to-heart conversation, and a lack of romantic moments. In the end, you’re left feeling like something is missing.
The whole concept involving the threads ends up being sidelined, the romance doesn't progress much, and several opportunities are missed or wasted.
It’s a very good and entertaining series, but it could have been better. The ending loses its way and leaves a bitter taste. Overall, the impression is positive, but the plot had massive potential to easily become the best BL of the year.

Cute. Slow burn
This is such a colorful series and a new concept, at least from my point of view. If you’re not a fan of slow burn, you might get irritated at some point. Guilty. 😂 Good thing this has a side of comedy, so that kept me entertained.I love how innocently funny JiaKai is, actually both of them, even Dawei. Their love-hate relationship was decent, so it actually took a while to really get those love-vibe scenes. Though, for me, I felt like they lacked a bit in establishing their relationship when they finally entered a romantic relationship. They kissed, and that was just it. 😂 One thing I know is that they showed jealousy, so I’ll assume that’s it.
On a lighter note, I love how they solve cases using JiaKai’s ability. I wish we got more of that, but then again, this is just a short series. There’s also a special episode, but I still hoped we could see more.
I wanted to see more of their dating era, which sadly wasn’t really served. 🥹 Well, chemistry-wise, they’re good with each other.
Overall, it’s just a cute series with a storyline that has a lot of potential. Still a good watch.
