Cheng Che and Ye Ran work together to gather evidence against the drug syndicate that is linked to the real Xiang Tingdong. While doing so, some of the dangerous and rebellious behavior from the past of Xiang Tingdong (for example, smoking opium) is exposed. For that, Ye Ran gets physically punished and whipped by his grandma since he is impersonating his brother. While getting whipped, Cheng Che jumps in front of Ye Ran to protect him and almost gets whipped too, but Ye Ran grabs the whip and saves Ye Ran from getting hurt, which makes Cheng Che realize that there's something good and caring about him, and she thinks to herself, "I genuinely admire him". Grandma suddenly feels sick and almost collapses, and is taken to the hospital. Cheng Che asks Ye Ran to help her find a key to her husband's safe deposit.
