Plot Synopsis#

Ruan Sixian was originally a flight attendant who dreamed of becoming a pilot, but was frustrated when Hengshi Airlines cancelled its pilot training program. She also resigned due to a misunderstanding with Hengshi Airlines Vice President Fu Mingyu and switched to flight training. Three years later, Ruan Sixian graduated from the flight academy with the highest score and became the object of competition among major airlines. In order to introduce new passenger aircraft, Fu Mingyu went to the flight academy to recruit. Faced with the old misunderstanding and competition from other companies, Fu Mingyu put aside his arrogance and recruited Ruan Sixian with generous conditions. Ruan Sixian's gorgeous return amazed everyone, but also caused the old rumors to resurface. Ruan Sixian encountered strict assessments, sudden accidents, and even grounding. Fu Mingyu also faced multiple obstacles in the company's reform. However, with mutual support and understanding, the two gradually warmed up their feelings, ushered in a new chapter in their relationship, and achieved their respective career goals . 

About Ruan Sixian (RSX) education/career background:

She completed her college/university degree before joining as a cabin crew. She describes her youth as "stumbling through her teenage years and figuring out how to grow up on her own," hinting at an independent, self-reliant upbringing rather than an elite, legacy academic background. Her long-term career goal was always to be a pilot!

Professional and Educational Path

Initial Role: Started her career as a cabin crew member/flight attendant with an airline company.

Transition: Hoped for internal pilot recruitment. World Airlines' internal pilot recruitment program allowed selecting a certain number of employees each year for pilot training, regardless of position or gender. That year, just as the application period was approaching, Fu Mingyu, who headed the Flight Department, canceled the program ( due to corporate restructuring)

For most people, this was just a minor inconsequential change, but for Ruan Sixian and Si Xiaozhen (her bff), who had joined World Airlines specifically for this it was a devastating blow!

Further training: As her ambition for pilot training at the airline couldn't be fulfilled and after falling-out with the airline's executive team due to a misunderstanding, she resigned and formally entered an independent aviation/flight academy.

Achievement: Completed three years of strict closed-door flight training and graduated first in her class before returning to the airline industry as a top-tier pilot candidate.

Fu Mingyu: FMY

FMY is this character set against the backdrop of civil aviation reform, and honestly, his character arc really gets to me. He's this guy trying to push forward while carrying so much weight during a tough time in the industry. The struggles of aviation reform, the pressure of keeping the airline afloat, the whole battle between his ideals and reality - it's all weighing down on him. He handles all that!

Fu Mingyu possesses an elite academic background tailored for executive leadership:

Aviation & Business Studies: He studied aviation and corporate management, equipping him with both the technical understanding of fleet operations and the macro-perspective needed to run a major airline.

Academic Excellence: He is characterized as a highly intelligent, self-motivated achiever who approached his studies with the same rigorous, calculating discipline he applies to his career.

Fu Mingyu climbs rapidly into high-level corporate governance:

Current Role: He serves as the Vice President (VP) and executive decision-maker of Hengshi Airlines

Leadership Style: He functions as a classic "sharp, composed, and cold-on-the-outside" executive. He values logic, numbers, and rigid professional boundaries over emotional arguments.

Corporate Reform Obstacles: His primary professional challenge is pushing through massive internal mechanism overhauls and route reforms within Hengshi Airlines. He frequently clashes with traditional management factions resistant to his structural changes.

The "Feiyang Plan" Backlash: To optimize corporate resources, he oversees the cancellation of the internal pilot training program (the Feiyang Plan). This decision triggers intense workplace friction, specifically alienating talented staff like Ruan Sixian.

Talent Acquisition & Competitive Pressure: To support his new aircraft models, he faces the high-stakes challenge of recruiting top-tier flight talent from flight academies while competing against rival airlines.

Confronting His Own Biases: His initial professional blindspot is his arrogance and rigid assumptions. He misinterprets Ruan Sixian’s career ambitions as opportunistic flattery, forcing him later to swallow his pride, recognize her objective talent, and re-hire her under highly competitive terms. At this point he doesn't recognise that RSX was that flight attendant who was rejected.

The Humiliating Mix-up: When the program is canceled, RSX attempts to reach Fu Mingyu to plead her case. Due to a delivered letter (in a pink envelope 😬) and bad timing ( beforeboarding, he overheard the gossip between the cabin crew on how to get the attention of VIP passengers on board 😶) Fu Mingyu mistakes her for a pursuer and coldly rejects her. Insulted, she abruptly resigns.

When she qualifies as a pilot with top marks and is heavily sought after by competing airline companies, FMY competes against their conditions and recruits RSX under generous conditions to support his new aircraft models.

Corporate Push-and-Pull: Resenting his past arrogance, Ruan Sixian uses her sharp wit and technical skills to stand her ground and subtly humble Fu Mingyu during tense office interactions.

The Pursuit: Realizing she despises him rather than cooperating with him—he is perplexed and gets to the bottom of her resentment with help from his secretary who reminds him about this "flight attendant " from 3 years ago. Being captivated by her fearlessness and talent—the previously arrogant Fu Mingyu is forced to swallow his pride and relentlessly pursue her.

• As they face corporate restructuring, safety tests, and aircraft challenges together, their mutual respect deepens. RSX sees through his soft, gentle and supportive interior under his cold and rigid exterior.

• The Resolution: They overcome lingering external obstacles and emotional misunderstandings, eventually evolving from a bickering boss-and-employee pair into equal partners in life and in the sky.

Their relationship arc is defined by comedic misunderstandings, fierce professional rivalry, and a deep mutual respect that evolves into sweet devotion.
