The keys on the antique typewriter are different from the modern keyboard. You have to use control to push the keys. You cannot hit the keys too hard or too soft. This is symbolic of the dynamics between the leads.

Even the way the typewriter is perched on the edge is deliberate. It shows how easily that control can be lost as it crashes to the ground. It can be reassembled, but what about that missing key? It can be repaired but what happens when it is replaced? The fact that the missing key is the "L" could mean it stands for "LOVE." One theme is that love cannot be controlled. LOVE or LUST....which is it? 😂

The typewriter at the edge could also be the director's way of making us notice it. This "antique" typewriter is like LOVE...as old as time.

I’m surprised ML said “control love” as well. Because he didn’t know “love” in the novel version. Was there a misplaced translation because he repeats it again and FL defied his words and said she “can” control it.
