The keys on the antique typewriter are different from the modern keyboard. You have to use control to push the keys. You cannot hit the keys too hard or too soft. This is symbolic of the dynamics between the leads.
Even the way the typewriter is perched on the edge is deliberate. It shows how easily that control can be lost as it crashes to the ground. It can be reassembled, but what about that missing key? It can be repaired but what happens when it is replaced? The fact that the missing key is the "L" could mean it stands for "LOVE." One theme is that love cannot be controlled. LOVE or LUST....which is it? 😂
The typewriter at the edge could also be the director's way of making us notice it. This "antique" typewriter is like LOVE...as old as time.

That's an interesting theory!
Although I personally believed it could also be Luke apart from Love.
I'm expecting we'll get some back story on it soon when he finds the letter L with FL. Ig then the mystery will get resolved.
It could be "Luke" as well. There is one quote that I feel is linked the control that is needed when using this manual typewriter. Do you remember he asked her if love can be controlled? At this point, I don't even. know why he is talking about love. He might be talking more about physical love.

Idk he is being really confusing anyway. Guess we'll have to wait and watch

I’m surprised ML said “control love” as well. Because he didn’t know “love” in the novel version. Was there a misplaced translation because he repeats it again and FL defied his words and said she “can” control it.

I feel it could be the translation. In context, he could have meant desire cannot be controlled because he wasn't saying he loved or was in love.

Nice.
What came to mind honestly that Luke is a bit of an antique. He lusts for the maiden, snowy and pure.
He wants something priceless and when he find it, he will cherish it. The first thing I thought of when I saw that typewriter was that the keys need practice. I used to play with my grandmother's so I know it it not a quick touch but you need to put more pressure but not too much. There he was dusting it so gently.
