in the five months of walking alongside you, i came to understand your past. those restless nights and moments when our emotions were drained dry are proof that our lives overlapped. from a puppet who had lost herself, to someone determined to save herself, you never truly gave up, not even once. now, free from the weight of hatred and guilt, your future lies wide open, vast as the sky and sea, and yours alone to live.
wu wangyan is another new piece in the map of characters i’ve played, leaving a special mark: the stubbornness to stay true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. that mark will accompany me as i move on to the next, even more wonderful chapter of my journey. the road ahead is still long, and i want to keep walking it like this—one project at a time, one step at a time.
thank you to everyone who stayed with me and accompanied wu wangyan on this journey. thank you to everyone who felt for her and cried for her. and thank you to every little bell 🔔 for your support of actress chen duling. i’ll work even harder and repay you all with even better works. thank you to youku and the cast and crew of <veil of shadows>—it’s because of you that wu wangyan was given breath and heartbeat. wu wangyan’s story has come to an end, but in some parallel universe, she’ll surely live a happy and fulfilling life, forever existing in the hearts of those who remember her ❤️

the mist will clear in its own time, and the moon will set in its place. we’ve accompanied wu wangyan to the end of her story.
you are kind. the world says fox demons have no heart, yet you cannot bear to watch the suffering of humanity. forced to take part in hatred and killing, you had no choice, but your heart—the very heart everyone claims you don’t have—said “no” every single time. you weren’t only breaking free from your own shackles, but also shielding all living beings from even greater calamities. what does it matter that you’re a demon? what you carry inside your heart has never been just yourself.
you are clear-headed. the moment you learned the truth, you didn’t break down or run away. you simply resolved never again to be the moon that illuminates a mass grave, and then made your choice. even if it meant losing something, and even if it meant bearing an eternal curse, you accepted it willingly, because you knew that some battles aren’t fought for yourself, but to spare others from walking the same path you did.
you are brave. knowing full well that an abyss lay ahead, you stood firm against jiu ying all the same. faced with endless darkness, you never retreated. resistance is courage; keeping a secret is courage; to endure is courage; even your tears are courage. you’d rather be covered in wounds than give up on saving yourself and protecting those you love.
you are worthy. worthy of being seen, worthy of being remembered, worthy of being cherished, worthy of a happy ending. though born in the body of a fox demon, you bear the responsibility of a deity. at the end of the story, you’re finally free. you no longer need to answer to anyone. from now on, you’re simply that bright full moon, free to go anywhere and do anything you wish. all of this is what you deserve.
