Shinsengumi: With You I Bloom Episode 1

1863, Kyoto: Fukakusa Kyujuro works diligently at a small tea shop owned by his kind-hearted father, Shichiya. However, their tranquil life is turned upside down when his father is killed by Gengo Shonai, a Choshu samurai after he provides respite for a wounded pro-shogunate samurai and hinders their entry. A vengeful Kyujuro joins the Mibu Roshigumi, a group of pro-shogunate soldiers, in spite of his father's dying words to not seek revenge. He is faced with the challenge of defeating his formidable peers, all of who are skilled swordsmen, in an examination. Hope rekindles when he is pitted to battle against the contemplative and unmatched Kamagiri Daisaku, whom he successfully defeats as per the requirements and gains entry to the organization.
