happy ending
When I tell you I was so pumped for every Tuesday, this show had my heart on edge for WEEKS. But we finally got that happy ending. Dai & Shun are end game šššI think a lot of people were frustrated with Shun but as someone who works with trauma clients, I understood him. Heās been through a lot, it doesnāt justify all of his behavior but itās understandable that heād be insecure and cautious and have trouble trusting Dai. Dai is the ultimate dream guy. So patient, so kind, excellent communicator. Dai and Alan were my favorites on the show. Wonderful humans. The only one that annoyed me really was Ryota, boy was too obsessed and needed to move on.Was this review helpful to you?

Pretty good drama-free reality TV show
Everyone deserves a Dai in their lIfe; he was so understanding, so patient and committed. I love how truthful Shun was whenever he decided to express himself; he might not do it right away but he does not take long either.i also like the differences of the two couples. Alan and Kazuto( more like Kazuto) wanted to take time in getting to know each other; they were less touchy( more like Kazuto again).
Everyone is so foccused on Shun and did not realize that Kazuto was doing more or less to Alan.
Alan and Dai are definitely head over heels over their reapective partners, and very patient and understanding.
i definitely shed a tear or two for Gensei and Taeheon. Ryota should have left right after Gensei. He was clearly rejected by Kazuto then. not sure why and how he remained hopeful.
I have only watched His Man season 2 but if you asked The Boyfriend was pretty good. i. Lastly, i really likes how the hosts were watching it as we were as well.

Participants are so kind, mature, and empathetic.
First of all, this is a fast-paced dating show where the participants have been together for just one month, and it only has 10 episodes, each about 40 minutes long. Obviously, a lot of things are skipped, and we don't get to know their full stories. However, letās talk about the participants because I found them amazing. They are so kind, mature, and empathetic. As expected from Japanese people, they are respectful and have great personalities!Shun - Heās the most complicated participant on the show. If you donāt try to understand him, you might be turned off by his behavior. But if you look at him from a deeper perspective, youāll understand why he acts the way he does. All of his actions make sense when you consider his past experiences with pain and trauma in previous relationships. I would also be mentally unstable if I were in his position. That said, I actually appreciate that heās on the show because it highlights how difficult it can be for someone to open up after failed relationships. However, I believe he needs professional help after the show to fully recover and to prevent hurting others due to his actions.
Dai - Oh, to be loved by Dai. Imagine being emotionally unstable and having this guy be so patient with you. I also love what he said to Ikuo: "I'm not the type of guy who would make him insecure." Hands down, respect! Despite being the youngest along with Ikuo, heās not afraid to address important issues within the house. I admire that about him. The only thing I didnāt like was how he treated Ikuo, but I understand his perspective.
Kazuto - This guy is like collecting men as if theyāre keychains, lmao. But am I complaining? No, because I would also be head over heels for him since heās so nice and has a decent personality. The fact that he doesnāt take anyone for granted after learning they like him is impressive. However, heās one of the participants Iād like to know more about because heās so mysterious.
Ryota - Oh, come on, Ryota, donāt push it so hard, lmao. Youāre handsome and nice, but you shouldnāt press your affections on someone too much, as that can be uncomfortable for them. Nevertheless, I appreciate how he always listens to Shun and doesnāt get tired of his behavior.
Alen - Impressive personality! Heās a must-have in any dating show because his presence likely keeps things in place and at peace. Although heās like a peacemaker, heās not nosy and knows his boundaries. I love that about him. I also admire how he adjusts for Kazuto, slowing down his fast-paced nature just for him. I personally think heād be a great friend in real life!
Gensei - I refuse to believe heās already 34 because he still seems like a baby! Heās so cute!
Taehoon - I also appreciate him being on the show because heās mature, and I like the advice he gave to Shun. I wish him the best outside the show with his family and love life.
Usak - Iāll forever miss his chicken breast shake, lmao. Despite being the sexy guy at work, heās quite shy. I love him and wish him luck as well.
Ikuo - I love that he told Dai it was painful to see how Shun was treating him and that Dai deserved better. I think thatās true. Although he might seem nosy, I can really feel his care for Dai. I just wish he had arrived earlier; he might have had a better chance with Dai.... or maybe not.
I hope I didnāt forget anyone.
I truly enjoyed the show! It might not be the best dating show, but itās binge-worthy, and the participants are all nice and lovable!

Hmmm.... much more boring compared to His Man
While it's nice to see interactions between people searching for a live-partner, I don't need a panel who does explain me what happenend. That is so annoying and belittles the viewer imho.So I prefer "His Man" over this by far, because there are much more open feelings, much more conflict, much more misunderstandings and much more butterflies.
Overall a OK show, but I skipped the panel all the time. But I'm disappointed about the length of the show, because they were together for four weeks and have less material as "His Man" which is much more intense and interesting for just a week.

Good start for same sex love
I thought this series is a good start for same sex, NETFLIX. This series is for open minded people or those who want to be open minded. This series shows us a lot about boys love and teaches us how love can blossom in Same sex as well.It shows how they become friends and how they develop feelings for each other. And entertaining too, there is a love truck which blossom the emotions for each other in a way that nobody could imagine. I Love This Series. Was this review helpful to you?
I recommend more
Greeting, overall the show is very amazing but we are not getting the full story, we only get 2 clips of one day and it's not really interesting and fun for me to be honest, I feel like we need more and we need to see more in order to really understand and feel the chemistry of the guys. Please work on that.

love, friendship, and LIFE
I seriously enjoy this show, and I really really mean it!!To start off I agree with the hosts in the end, that show showed more emotional learning, than it is for the drama as people find that "entertaining". I love the building of both friendship and relationship and truly loved it was called The Boyfriend so it has the double meaning of friends and relationship!
I appreciated how (despite yes it was pretty fast paced I get itt) we got almost all aspects of learning from these boys, and I really appreciate their lives and courage for coming in to the show! I enjoyed learning about them and how they like to live life, it makes me think about me life as well hahaha I really love the hosts who can give such good input on the situations!
And OMG the songs!! Please everything was so good!
So cheers to the boys and everyone who worked on this show, it truly was a dating show that literally gave life!! I say really one of the best reality dating show ever!!
A short review but I want bump up the rating as it truly deserves a high rating!! hahahah

Shun, Dai, and Hayato
Should've just changed the title to Shun, Dai, Hayato. LOLWhat the hell did I just watch? And I don't mean this in a malicious way
I have never encounter a human being such as Shun. He is so sure of himself, not wavering, know his negative self, and present his true self. I admire him.
Sometimes people went to this kind of reality show and want to present a different kind of character or different personality, than in their real life.
So, Shun really moved me, his character, his true to himself.
I truly, truly hope he can be happy with Dai

I cheered I cried I cheered
I'm not a bit fan of reality show and I really thought this would be some lame show like paradise hotel.but it had alot of value with it. I could understand why shuen was like he was cause I am like him too.
and I have a rule if a how make me cry, laugh and be all fluffy then it's a succes.
it also made want to try find love my self, wich I have given up on. because it's hard when you are like Shuen who has been disapointed over and over, to open up. but also when you are a person who dosnt fall in love right away, but first when there are shown interest to you. then it's hard.
so now I'm rooting for them, cause they are dang cute together.

Great series
Iām late to The Boyfriend train but I binged it yesterday. I donāt care for reality tv but I was curious, itās very obvious that many people are going to misunderstand Shun and his actions and yes there were some times where I was like āShun commonā but as someone who had been in toxic relationships I understand Shun and I donāt think him setting boundaries for Dai is a bad thing. Shun didnāt want to get hurt again so he put walls up to avoid it and thatās completely understandable. He eventually brought those walls lower once he started to trust Dai.Was this review helpful to you?

such a refreshing dating reality show
i watched this, not really expecting much. butDAMNNNNNN i loved it so much. the cast was so amazing. the drama was entertaining and honestly crack up.
i related a lot to shun with his insecurities + walls he built up, as well as him constantly testing dai to see if he was genuine or not. he was so dramatic that it was just so funny. like wdym he got angry because dai wouldnāt wear his T-shirt, but his ex would ? BWAHAHAHAHHA STOPPPPPP š oh their last date was BEAUTIFUL ! i already knew what was gonna happen when shun went onto daiās bed. but it looked like something was happening underneath that blanket ⦠š the kiss needs to be recorded in the history of best BL kisses to ever happen. BL dramas/ shows need to study this exact scene, bc the build up, eye contact, whispers, everything led up to such a romantic and intimate kiss. hopefully shun matures so that when he has children he wonāt get them in trouble for having to much fun, or being too enthusiastic (cue flashback of their first date šš)
i was amazed at the maturity, loyalty and consideration dai had. how he was able to so easily compromise for shun and try to understand his reactions. how he was willing to keep trying even if it wore him out. he was very expressive and talked about his feelings, which is so important in any type of relationship. i thought it was a great idea that he enjoyed the picnic with new guy, because it would have been refreshing for him and showed shun how he really felt. BROOOOOOO i swear, dai has the patience of a saint, because shun was just confusing with wanting his physical touch, only to push him away.
they were so realistic and enjoyable (sometimes frustrating) to watch. AND NETFLIX PUTTING THIS SONG WHEN SHUN CONFESSED ?! perfection! honestly, my main focus was them. i wish them both happiness together.
i can remember kazuto picking the guys up like pokemon. i was LAUGHING MY HEAD OFF that one time it was his shift and everyone put their hands up. honestly so valid, bc me too. usak and his chickennnn OMG the whole budgeting thing was so funny, like they were so serious about chicken š he was adorable and iām kinda sad he left early. gensei thinking ryota liked him was funny as well. like i never thought iād see my level of delulu on tv. ryota was like seeing the second lead in a kdrama. he just kept giving his heart to kazuto, only for it to be crushed #unrequitedlove . taeheon being on the show even though he wasnāt out, was such a brave move for me. it made me admire his courage to do so, knowing his family will inevitably see it. i loved that everyone comforted him and assured him that his emotions were valid and his presence is needed. i felt sorry for ikuo when daishun were having lover quarrels 101 š homeboy only wanted to help. alan was very understanding of everyone and gave really good advice/ words of comfort.
only thing i wish they would improve is more content please ! how did they stay together for one whole month, and only have 10-45min episodes ? in the end they all respected each other and it was refreshing to see.
