Chaser Game W2: Utsukushiki Tennyotachi Episode 5 Reactions
Well, that didn’t take long … Itsuki and Fuyu are lying in bed together assuring each other of their mutual love. But then Fuyu asks where Itsuki spend the previous night, and she confesses she was in Yoreum’s hotel room, where nothing happened – that she can remember, because she was heavily drinking. It naturally shocks Fuyu, that after only one day of being apart she already turned to Yoreum, and she needs time to think for herself, so Itsuki leaves.
Then, Yoreum appears at Fuyu’s place; she claims she’s going to propose to Itsuki, and they are going to get married in Sweden. My reponse to that is the same as Fuyu’s: Huh? Should she ask Itsuki before announcing such plans, especially as Itsuki just told her she loves Fuyu? Fuyu informs Yoreum that she intends to live with Itsuki as she has cut her ties to her family.
In Yoreum’s mind, that means they must compete for Itsuki – with a drinking game: while taking Soju shots they exchange arguments why they are the better choice. This game ends, however, when Itsuki is texting Yoreum that she’s in the hospital in her hometown. Both rush to the hospital only to find out that Itsuki isn’t hospitalized herself but rather her grandma who fell. Grandma remembers Yoreum and greets her jovially, but doesn’t know Fuyu, who Itsuki calls “a friend from university”. Ouch!
As the grandma is relased – her injuries were minor – she suggest Itsuki should show her two companions her hometown. Thus, the three take bikes to Itsuki’s old high school; on the way there, Fuyu and Itsuki are bonding again, and Yoreum notices that. They walk over the school ground, and Yoreum takes pictures. They walk to the pool area where Itsuki accidentally falls in trying to save Fuyu, but as the water is warm, she then draws Fuyu in as well. Yoreum begins to realize the real connection these two have as they act playfully in the pool.
Afterwards, they need a shower and a change of clothes. Itsuki appears first and talks to Yoreum who claims, she has lost. The shows Itsuki the pictures she’s made and claims she should have returned before Itsuki and Fuyu met. She has only one last request: she should introduce Fuyu to her grandma – properly.
Then, they have a Korean BBQ with grandma, and she asks Yoreum whether she has someone in her life. She says she got dumped, which is not entirely accurate but I let it slide. Then, Itsuki is asked the same question, and she admits that she is a lesbian, and loves Fuyu. Awkward silence – then grandma proves that she is not part of a Thai GL 😊, she says what matters most to her is that she is happy, she doesn’t care if she’s a lesbian. She’s also sorry that she must have hurt Itsuki by asking for a great-grandchild – and she asks Fuyu to take good care of her.
At night, Yoreum quietly sneaks out – but is followed by Fuyu who already expected her to leave without a word. Yoreum finally admit to her that nothing had happened between Itsuki and her – but that Itsuki talks in her sleep and said her name a lot. 😉 ❤ She says “goodbye, best friend” and drives away.
When Fuyu returns, Itsuki is awake. They decide to spend the next day together – at the university.
After the last episode left me cold, this one was much better. They handled the rivalry between Fuyu and Yoreum – after initial worries that this would turn into a silly competition – very maturely.
