Parents that don't deserve to be ones and the reason of Gayun's death...

What a terrible, insufferable mother! And even after going through her son's schedule, she still wanted to push him. 😞 I am so proud of the son for being able to get out of that cycle where he wanted those pills again and again and tell his mother a way healthier plan for his studies and dreams. 😌👏He was in an unimaginably horrible condition because of those pills. I still can't believe his mother overlooked all the signs as long as he brought home the results. 😧😤🤦‍♀️So the overarching plot is the drugs used in the education system, and the reason Hwajin's fiancé died was because of her finding out that student was a dealer or user (though I lean more towards dealer)... And even though he was sentenced to ten years, he's now out after two because of that politician wanting to go against Minister Choi that way? If only he knew what a disaster he has unleashed upon that school that boy will go to. 🤦‍♀️😤

Those drugs are not fully illegal/unapproved in Korea, only controlled!

I was prescribed both methylphenidate (concerta) and atomoxetine (strattera) in South Korea (but not simultaneously) so I know a bit about this... The episode said they are only for high-risk patients. Not sure what that means. All you really need is an official ADHD diagnosis.

ADHD meds do not have a 'focus' effect on those without ADHD... they will actually often make your cognitive skills worse and make you anxious and jittery. Just like excessive caffeine, since methylphenidate is also a stimulant. The only ADHD meds that are fully illegal in Korea are the amphetamine-based ones, such as lisdexamfetamine. The kid was taking straight up meth, though lol - completely illegal everywhere.

Another shameful mother

In a previous episode it was a perfectionist mother of five years child torturing an innocent teacher because of "problems" with kids. And now we have a mother obsessed with being accepted and for that she uses her only child, forcing him to become something he doesn't want by heart. It is really shamefull.
