The script for adaptation only use some character names and background Republican Era from the novel.

So we can call it is mostly original script.

But, I don't want to encourage everyone not to read the novel.The novel is dark romance and explores the deepest psychology of both leads with heavy SM, guilt, self loathing etc.So if u r SM sucker, u will just find out the author is very good writer for this genre.

But ,the adaptation will be whole new characters set up with completely different plot lines that makes me very excited becuz it will be how the story told + what will happen next kind of thrill when we watch the drama .

After reading the novel I was shocked never seen someone like Murong Qingyi after all the things he did. Susu had her hope only for him in her life time. One who never transparent or loyal in his relationship and one who never bother speaking up her grievance. Perfect disaster couple. I'm the biggest fool to expect their misunderstanding will resolve at some point🥲. Maybe from the moment he took her against her will their relationship is bound to fail. That poor girl got pregnant 3 times and all the three times she never get love and care from him only loneliness and despair. All she wanted was just a place to call home. Everytime they estranged he find new woman wow.. And all those words he spoke to have a place in heart even as hate feelings. He really good at drinking poison to quench thirst🥺🥺🥺 she never once claimed her rights as wife. I hope never find myself read such novel again. I don't hate them, just I can't allow myself to grieve over a story like this. I hope drama version have completely different character setup for Murong Qingyi🤞and Ren susu be more open about her feelings in relationship🤞
