Here We Meet Again

The drama itself is very enjoyable to watch. The biggest highlight is the relationship of the main couple - Xiang Yuan and Xu Yan Shi - because, in my opinion, it’s what saved this series. I really enjoyed watching their relationship and the rekindling of their love. They were able to communicate with each other, support one another, and be a huge source of strength for each other. At the same time, I appreciated the moment when she set a boundary so that he wouldn’t sacrifice his dreams for her. I do think the brief breakup was unnecessary, but I treated it more as a short-lived conflict, and fortunately it wasn’t blown out of proportion with any serious attempt to enter a marriage with Feng Jun to save the company. They had wonderful chemistry and plenty of tasteful HOT scenes. It was simply easy to root for them from beginning to end.

In contrast, there’s the second main couple - Gao Leng and Chen Shu. I couldn’t root for them at all; in fact, it was quite the opposite - I didn’t want them to end up together. I didn’t feel any love between them, let alone chemistry. It was painful to watch scene after scene where Gao Leng tried so hard for her, while she kept treating him like a kid, completely failing to appreciate him in any way. That said, Gao Leng himself was a wonderful character, and I really wanted him to find happiness and someone who would truly value him, instead of trying to force him to change.

As for the company-related storyline, I had mixed feelings throughout the series. Sometimes I found it interesting and engaging, and other times I was bored and wished that part could be cut from the episode entirely. The constant obstacles thrown in their way - which were always eventually resolved - became tiring over time. On top of that, one DongHe-related issue was never fully explained. Several “employees” were plotting against the company during its potential downfall, and then they simply didn’t show up at the meeting afterward. What happened to them? It left a noticeable gap. That said, the employees themselves deserve praise - especially those from Velin, mainly from their department (with two exceptions). They were all wonderful. The same goes for Xu Yan Shi’s college friends (with one exception). Among the less obvious standout characters, I’d also highlight Li Yong Biao, whose personality completely won me over - I smiled when he was invited by the employees to celebrate at the end - and Ying Yin Yin. She annoyed me a bit at first, but her silliness also made me laugh, and eventually that was all that remained, so I grew quite fond of her.

Now let’s move on to the segment about annoying characters - and therefore the longest one, even though I’ll still skip some. Let’s start with the worst:
→Feng Jun was the most infuriating of them all. I honestly couldn’t stand seeing his face on screen, I swear. He ran off abroad, practically destroying his friends’ lives in the process, and showed not a shred of concern. Worst of all, by the end of the series he never faced consequences for the crime he committed - the one the male lead was blamed for. Then he comes back and relentlessly pursues the female lead, who has zero interest in him. He cheated in a competition, preventing her from winning, and still thought he was the better choice for her and could give her a better life. An absolute snowman.
→Chairwoman Li Qin and her lover Yang Ping Shan. She, in particular, drove me up the wall. I honestly don’t understand how the female lead’s grandfather managed to stay uninvolved in the company for so many years without noticing her schemes and fraud - but that’s something we’ll never get an answer to. Still, nothing gave me more satisfaction than watching her “clever” plans collapse like a house of cards. Her arrest at the end was the cherry on top.
→Li Chi. This is where my feelings become mixed. On one hand, he did help in the end, but earlier he was plotting against them - something that the characters seemed to conveniently forget. There’s also the issue of the secret photo he took of Chen Shu. Probably because he liked her? Even so, I still find it deeply unsettling and creepy.
→Situ Ming Tian — the FL's grandfather. He made this list simply because I couldn’t understand him. On one hand, he desperately wanted his granddaughter to get married or at least find love. But when she finally did, he suddenly became opposed to it. The supposed connection to her mother doesn’t convince me at all, especially the idea that he didn’t know the male lead was a valuable employee. He was a wealthy man deeply embedded in that world — there’s no way he wouldn’t have heard his name. In my opinion, this plotline was forced in just to create some obstacle to their relationship, and it didn’t make much sense. That said, this did improve later on, and I started to like him more when he became a subtle fan of the male lead, showing it between the lines -for example, by defending him in front of his granddaughter.

Their communications is KISS

If you’re looking for fast paced drama where ML and FL kiss and get together at episode 5. Then, this drama is not for you. Spoiler alert ! They start to be in relationship in episode 20. Lol. This is drama for adult. Of course involves working places, patriotism, flashback and etc. but for first 20 episodes, you will have few cute moments, sweet scene and flirting. The FL is not like weak character who need to be saved. She is strong minded, not like spoiled brat, even tho she is rich. The ML is very supportive and always there for the FL but without crossing the line, he just stand by her side in case she needs him, but still give lots of opportunities for FL to learn and settle her own issues.

And when they are together. No matter what happened. Happy scenes, sad, mad, angry scene, break up scene all end up with a hot kisses from em. Haha nothing much about misunderstanding. The first few episodes are a bit confusing. But after that, the drama is well written. Even for flashback, are just enough to explained things but not dragging the whole drama. Even the breakup only last 1 episodes with cute jealousy scene in between. Haha.

As for cast. I always love janice. So no doubt in her acting. I don’t really like ML. Usually I don’t like to watch his other drama so I cant do comparisons. I always find him not good looking for me. Haha but this drama change my mind. I like how he brings the characters out.
Other cast like technicians team are quite good and perfectly cast as well. But i think the grandpa, can be some other grandpa tho. Haha

Music and ost wise are good. But not that much noticeable in the drama. I don’t really remember any of it. But accidentally come across the ost playlist in utube and like it.

Rewatch ? Obviously i will. In future. But just hope the ending could be longer and doesn’t feel that rush. Would love to see their life after marriage tho. Wondering if they will repeat their parents life too. But I’ll rewatch for all those sweets, cute and those kisses huhuhu

Mature Romance, Zero Toxicity, and a First Kiss Scene That Actually Delivers

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Like, significantly more.

Here We Meet Again is a hidden gem of a workplace romance that stars Wu Qian as Xiang Yuan and Vin Zhang as Xu Yan Shi. The drama follows a young businesswoman who reunites with her high school crush while trying to save her family's struggling company branch away from the headquarters. It's a smart romance blended with a career-focused storyline—corporate challenges, rekindled feelings, and all.

The Lead Couple

The lead couple is mature, and that alone already puts this drama a cut above most workplace romances. Their internal and external conflicts are understandable — nothing is manufactured for the sake of cheap drama. They have great chemistry, and the character development is evident not just through the script but through the acting itself. Especially Xiang Yuan's character, who genuinely evolves throughout the show.

Now, I'm going to be honest — I don't think Wu Qian is particularly female lead material. At least for romantic dramas. That said, she did really well with this role. I do, however, have some conflicting feelings about her styling team because they did her dirty in the first part of the drama. Those hairstyles had her looking like a mouse. I think the team really could have done much better early on. Thankfully, her look changes throughout the show, and her true personality shines through.

I'm also glad she wasn't written like your typical workplace romance, opposites-attract female lead, who is bubbly, childish and clueless. Xiang Yuan is assertive, acts according to her personality, and stays very consistent as a character. That's refreshing.

Xu Yan Shi is probably one of the best male leads I've come across in an office romance C-drama. He's written really well, and he doesn't do anything that's out of character for him — unlike a lot of male leads in this genre where they're supposedly nerdy but then randomly have some bizarre, uncharacteristic hobby like boxing or car racing that only comes up when they need to safe the girl.

Everything about Xu Yan Shi is consistent with who he is and what he’s been through. All his feelings and doubts are relevant. The writers didn't make him a jerk at the beginning just to show his character growth. He is very non-toxic, which shouldn't be as noteworthy as it is, but he’s just very wholesome and goregeous to look at in general.

The Romance

The romance developed organically, and while it did take some time for them to get there, I appreciated that. I especially liked that we didn't get any of that weird nonsense where the leads — the female lead in particular — suddenly become all shy and awkward once the intimacy kicks in. This drama also has one of the best first kiss scenes. Don’t confuse it with that work balcony accidental peck. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the real kiss in her apartment they both worked for. All that pent-up tension comes out exactly when it needs to come out, and they are not shy about it. I overall really liked the way intimacy was portrayed here. It felt earned and natural. If you want some skinship that feels natural, this is the right drama. It delivers. It doesn’t maybe get on the level of some other dramas, but it does really well with giving us a very generous amount of intimate scenes which conveys trust between the characters.

Supporting Cast & Atmosphere

The supporting cast is great and adds a nice flavor to the general workplace romance atmosphere. The banter is funny and relevant. All the scenes with the grandpa are genuinely wonderful — he's a highlight. The humor lands well, the workplace setting is interesting as a backdrop, and all the important revelations throughout the story hit effectively at the right moments. Nothing feels wasted in that department.

My One Complaint: Pacing

If there's one drawback to this drama, it's that it does get boring in certain episodes. Some scenes and characters just don't need as much screen time as they're given, and a few of the minor storylines (hello second couple) could have easily been trimmed or removed altogether to give more room to the romance and conflict between our lead couple. I think somewhere around the middle there's a slow stretch, but if you fast forward through some of the scenes, you're not going to miss much. This is genuinely my only complaint. Otherwise, it would have been a 10 out of 10.

Final Verdict

Here We Meet Again is a great comfort drama for those who enjoy workplace romance and want maturity between the leads. All the conflicts and misunderstandings they have — and they don't really have a lot — make complete sense because of who these characters are as people and what they’ve been through. I can't fault them for feeling the way they feel, and that's the sign of well-written leads. The romance overall is very strong here and their relationship is very believable.

Plus, the dramahas a really great ending, so you're going to feel very satisfied, happy, and fuzzy on the inside once you finish it.

And since I watched it in 2026 (I go back and watch older stuff too—no shame in that) I would dare say that Here We Meet Again is a much better workplace romance drama than Shine on Me or even Only for Love, both plot-wise, character-wise, and romance-wise. Acting from main leads here is better as well, they feel very true to their characters and are very natural.

Played by Janice Wu & Vin Zhang of course I've to watch this one...

The drama told about 1 man, Xu Yan Shi (YS), that like 1 woman, Xiang Yuan (XY), in his life. But life played them good & separated them again & again until life decided enough time to make them together now. Haha...

YS & XY have 4 times encounter: kindergarten, high school, university & workplace. But when in high school & university, YS's dad succeed screw up their chance & finally they have their chance in the workplace.

The story begin in Velin company, the branch of Donghe group that in the verge of collapse, cause bad management, corruption & nepotism deep in the management. XY is happy go lucky girl from rich family that at first don't care about her family business. XY grandpa, chairman of Donghe group, send XY undercover to manage this branch. In there XY finally group up from happy go lucky girl to the girl that finally understand how to manage business & care enough about her family business in the end.

What I like:
+ First of all really happy to finally have another director that using their brain when cast, to separate the cast of adult time & high school time... Sometimes I must sigh when I see actor/ess on end off their 20s or early 30s play as high school student. I know sometimes that relate to the budget etc. & the bonus point, they even cast the actor/ess according to their respective age in the drama...
+ The chemistry between Janice Wu & Vin Zhang is good.... They match each other perfectly. It feel really like old friend that finally get together. Janice & Vin Zhang looked like having fun while filming this drama.
+ The develop of YS & XY relationship is make sense. YS a few times make XY angry & XY not immediately forgive him, all need process....
+ YS is quite jealousy boyfriend, but his jealousy several time quite make sense. But I really like when he never restrict XY's life & really respect her, especially when he said that XY should not change herself just cause him.
+ The story of Gao Leng (GL) & Chen Shu (CS) also make sense. They love each other, but GL indeed need to grow up to match CS. And I kinda like how GL just not give up, but he still care & try to chase CS again.
+ The cute & adorable XY's grandpa. Especially when YS's friend try to messed his mind about his evaluation toward YS. Is just so funny...
+ Janice is quite adorable played XY, but still nothing too new about her acting...

Overall this really one good drama this year...

Excellent Story, Production , OST and Overall Performance. I adore the chemistry between the two lead characters and I watch this 10 times already. I did a 10 days marathon hardly no sleep because I love this drama the most! Zhang Binbin and WuQian are number one actors bar none!

The chemistry is off the charts but the story left much to desire

Honestly, I was really enjoying the first half of this drama. I loved the flirting stage and the chemistry of the two main leads was really off the charts. However, the back and forth regarding getting together was annoying and I feel like it dragged there. There were all these misunderstandings, and if they just communicated, it would've been solved. Then once it got into the second half of the drama, I found that I was slowly losing interest in the drama as a whole. I would've liked to see more of a honeymoon stage between the couple, but maybe because the whole getting together portion took too long, it just gave them trial after trial. I get that they're supposed to have all these problems, but it was starting to get old. And again, communication is just non-existent and the main leads kept holding back their troubles from one another. So even though I loved the hot and steamy kisses and the fire chemistry between the two, there is only so far that the chemistry can take you. I started 2x-ing the last 5 episodes of the drama just to finally be done with it. It was quite disappointing because I feel like they had such a good foundation to create a drama that had both an amazing, hot couple and a substantiated story. But instead, we got a useless secondary couple that dragged on way too long that I really didn't care for in the end and a seemingly-strong female main lead who ended up always needing to be saved by her knight in shining armor. I really thought that our princess would've been a lot more bad ass, but she was a let-down. The whole Ashers reveal was also anti-climatic and again, they waited way too long to reconnect those dots from the first episode. On top of that, whatever happened to her flashbacks to that accident that, I'm assuming, her dad was in. She had a pretty emotional reaction to those flashbacks but they never addressed it for the rest of the drama.
Overall, if you want really strong chemistry between the leads, and you really won't look too deep into the story, this is a drama for you. Otherwise, I would say pass on this one. I was quite disappointed honestly. I was so excited to watch it only for it to be a bit disconnected and just a let-down. If you made it this far, thanks for reading, and bye for now!

Not your average workplace drama

Absolutely loved this! Great performances from the whole cast, nice mini Eternal Love/Rattan reunion for ML and main female antagonist, there were a series of antagonists but none of their storylines/screen-time was overdone, they weaved in and out just the right amount.

Flashbacks (which can get annoying if badly deployed) were used well to help explain backstory/reasons for our leads taking actions in the present and you got to see things from their different perspectives, deepening the understanding you have of the characters.

ML is obviously a complete dreamboat, smart, kind, noble, funny and sweet, also good with kids. I really liked the FL's character development, she applied herself and took on the challenges that presented at work, always trying (and generally succeeding) to make a success of things. The romance between them is really good and there were some hilarious scenes that had me laughing out loud as well. A real treat!

Main characters with depth & growth, mature romance, good office drama = one of the best Cdrama

Here We Meet Again is one of the best Chinese modern drama I've watched. It is quite rare to have both female and male characters that have separate backstories but they grow as individual and as a couple.

What I liked:
1) Writing - There were multiple arcs i) Xiang Yuan, ii) Xu Yan Shi, iii) their romance, iv) big office drama, v) Xiang Yuan and her grandfather, vi) friendships, vvi) workplace dynamics. All main arcs were done well.
2) Xiang Yuan characterisation - I love watching the growth of Xiang Yuan's character. She started as a granddaughter of a business tycoon who was not in the family business but then took on the challenge given by her grandfather to avoid marriage by working in one of the family companies. I enjoyed watching her journey as a boss-in-training. Xiang Yuan is also smart, rational and capable. There were instances that she could abuse her power but she did not do so. Xiang Yuan is kickass female lead.
3) Xu Yan Shi characterisation - He is handsome, sexy nerd played brilliantly by Zhang Bin Bin. I also love watching the growth of Xiang Yuan's character. It's great to see the multiple hats worn by Yan Shi in this series: i) office worker, ii) friend, iii) lover/life partner, iv) father figure/brother, v) university student/mentee . It's great that he seized a chance to do his own thing instead of catering to other people's needs at the end of the series.
4) Romance - I love love love their relationship. From schoolmates to co-workers then later on lovers and partners. Their relationship was healthy & mature. They had disagreements but which couple never argued? I liked their banter which each other - sometimes it seemed one-sided like the yakult scene involving Yan Shi's brother. Their romantic scenes are hot too - I like when Yan Shi tried on the suit that Xiang Yun bought for him.
5) Family - I like that there was a contrast between Xiang/Situ family and Xu family. Amazing dynamics between Xiang Yuan and her grandfather - their scenes are delightful to watch. I also enjoyed the interactions between Yan Shi and his brother, and between Xiang Yuan and her brother even though there aren't many.
6) Friendships - There are many types of friendships explored in this drama. My favourite is the brotherhood formed by Yan Shi and his close university friends. I also liked that technical team members formed friendship & cared for each other.
7) Supporting cast - wow supporting characters played important role in this series even Mr Bai and Feng Jun!

What I disliked:
1) I wish Gao Leng-Chen Shu romance was further developed by showing growth of both characters. I think Gao Leng shouldn't give in so easily to Chen Shu's plea.
2) The ending could have been better. With the time jump, I'd love to see Xu Cheng Li as a teenager or young adult.

Favourite scene
When Xiang Yuan was revealed to be granddaughter of Chairman Situ. I didn't expect the reveal would be done in that way!

Excellent because of heart-throb -- Vin Zhang <3

I am suffering from withdrawal from the very charming and very suave and very handsome Vin Zhang as Xu Yan Shi. My O MY, he is the embodiment of gentlemanly gorgeousness! I love seeing him on my screen. He is like a god!

What I love about this drama:
- Vin Zhang, ML, as XYS. Oh goodness. He is seriously a good-looking fellow! His presence and appearance take my breath away. He is well-built and manly. (I loved him in The King's Woman and I am thrilled to see him here.)
- I like how the character, XYS, is written and portrayed. He just takes things as they come and he tries his best to do the right things and the best things possible. It is no wonder that his "underlings" adore and respect him so much. If I had such a capable and sacrificial leader, I would too.
- I like the FL as she is an excellent actress but I wonder if another actress will be even more suitable for her role. However, as she is a fine actress, she does justice to the drama.
- The many kissing scenes are exceedingly hot! Woo hoo! :)
- I like that the leads are truly into each other. They do not fool around with others after making promises to commit as a couple. I like the bit of "healthy jealousy" in that the leads get jealous when there is reason to. They are not crazily jealous and do ridiculous things. I also really like that XYS is secure and that he tells FL to be herself and to show-off her wealth and style if she wishes to.
- I like that, in this show, it is the FL in charge and in control. She is the one who has the immense wealth to be the mover and shaker. Usually, it is the ML who is the "chaebol" type and the FL is the little woman in need of saving and such. Here, the FL is fully independent and fully capable. She does not need a man to complete her life. She is whole and autonomous. I really like this! She wants to be with him because she wants him in her life and not because she requires saving or that she feels that she lacks a man.
- The supporting cast are not the best actors and actresses in my opinion but they try and they are, generally, not hateful. In fact, I am quite fond of the supporting cast. The grandpa is cute. The little "underlings" are quite cute too.
- There are plentiful things happening in the drama which serve well to keep me riveted. I like a good story.
- I like that the bad guys get their just deserts which felt really great!
- The ending is an extremely happy one (for all the good guys)! I love happy endings even if they are cliché.

What I do not fancy too much:
- Some parts are a little draggy. But, just use FF button.
- I do not like the bad guys but we need action which comes from villains.

Overall, this drama is a lovely one because of the leading man, Vin Zhang as XYS. He is such a gorgeous gentleman in the show. I want to present him with "Boyfriend of the year (2023) award" for his stunning, convincing and lovely portrayal of XYS.

I love XYS and I love Vin Zhang as XYS! <3

I foresee myself re-watching the lovey-dovey scenes which showcase the handsome ML in all his absolutely delicious glory!
