Interesting palace fantasy fiction
It’s not a sensational watch for bromance significance but the story itself is interesting beginning to end. Bullying, torture, malicious maneuvering all make it a historical palace fantasy fiction. I felt the hesitation through directing and acting to really show this as a romance. There is a large age gap between Xi Meng and Emperor Huizong which is why small details like lingering gazes, subtle shift in expression and fixed attention with non verbal cues were probably skipped. Kevin Yan and Zhou Li Jie straight up acted well. Kenji Chen did a great job in the role of a villain. The orchestra soundtrack paired well with the scenes giving the acting additional emotional impact. I couldn’t see myself watching again yet it’s worth a first watch definitely.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
A Masterpiece!
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful! I genuinely don't know if there's a better word to describe this movie. The storyline, the emotions, the characters, the execution—everything was so beautifully crafted. What begins as a tale of revenge gradually develops into something much deeper, with art, friendship, grief, and betrayal woven into the narrative.
The use of painting, particularly the Ten Thousand Li landscape, was such an interesting aspect of the story. And the relationship between the two central characters? Goodness! The irony surrounding their friendship, their individual circumstances, and the emotions behind their actions made everything even more compelling.
Some moments were genuinely heartbreaking, especially the cruelty certain characters endured. Yet even those painful scenes contributed to the emotional weight of the story. Nothing about the experience felt shallow.
It's one of those movies where you understand what's happening, yet the beauty of how everything unfolds still leaves you struggling to put your feelings into words.
I don't particularly care whether people classify it as bromance or something else. What matters is that it delivered a deeply moving story, and it delivered it exceptionally well.
A beautifully crafted movie, through and through. An easy 10/10.
