Shades of gray

This drama is unique in that none of the leads are really the team we expected when drama started. They are all mutually weak links for their cause for very different reasons. So far we have a bunch of victims and a lot of morally bankrupt people in positions that should be protecting them rather than exploiting them. We have one good guy in the detective, who will hopefully stay that way in spite of his wife’s infidelity. She is most likely pregnant with the only other good guy , the reporter, who was trying to expose connect app and died for his efforts. The detectives are a juxtaposition of good and evil as we see how creepy and amoral his partner is behind the scene. It is especially sinister that he gets by with antagonizing the first victim while she’s sitting beside her lawyer. These three gals are exceptionally smart but all seem to struggle with common sense things. You can’t have a person housebound and have water and condiments in the fridge so they are forced to leave just to get a meal, or badger a witness with numerous texts to be sure she’s endangered. The one who relies on mother’s money and then trusts the wrong law partner. Now it’s IT guy. Is this really better? And the one who slept with her ex, removed evidence and lost evidence. Each episode flips your bias and perspective with highly tense situations meshing reality with public perception. It does an excellent job of frustrating you with the plight of the victims and the assistance or lack thereof from lawyers and justice system. You keep getting drawn into their web as the gray characters swirl around deciding the degree they can help or hurt.
