Meiko and Iku finish the osechi, and Daigo and others stick the mochi. Meiko goes to the Nagaya house of Shozo to give him Osechi, and labor begins on her way home. When she manages to get home, she gives up to the freshly made mochi while resisting the pain, and makes everyone go crazy. In between the labor pains, Meiko finds a letter in the celebration gift received from Shozo. After reading the letter, Yutaro rushes through the night road to the Nagaya house of Shozo.
