Inside Yumi’s Head and Somehow Mine Too
I waited so long, and we finally finished Yumi’s Cells series, and yeah, it's worth the hype from seasons 1-3. This show really said, “What if we take every overthought, every spiral, every tiny moment you don’t say out loud and put it on screen?” And somehow it worked, like worked. I've been glued since 2021. What hit me the most wasn’t even the relationships. It was Yumi. Watching her grow into someone who actually understands her own boundaries? Who stops romanticizing potential and starts choosing what feels right for her. That felt real in a way a lot of shows don’t even try to be. And the cells, I didn’t expect to get attached like that. But they made everything make sense. The logic vs emotion battles, the hesitation, the way one small thing can change your whole mood. It felt like watching my own brain sometimes, not gonna lie. Also, I appreciate that the show didn’t rush to give us some perfect, tied-up ending. It trusted us to understand that her story doesn’t stop at marriage. If anything, that’s just another chapter. I do wish we got a little peek into that future, though. Just a glimpse of her thriving in her career, with someone beside her who actually supports her, and how both cells live together.Overall, it felt honest. Messy in a real-life human way. Soft when it needed to be. And kind of healing without trying too hard.
Definitely one of those shows that stays with you after it ends.

On my knees, begging for more.
Please, please I need more of them, I can't get enough of this PD and Yumi's story. The best of the three seasons. Very honestly, when the season 2 came, i started it off with great eagerness because I absolutely loved season 1, and I was so so into this whole concept of cells world inside us, mixing of live action with animation, i have legit talked about Yumi Cells drama to almost everyone in my life, because the concept is so good. So after the end of season 1, I googled the ending of the whole season and I don't know why I thought the guy would be older then her ( her final partner) i think i didn't want spoilers so just read that she met someone at her publication office. So season 2, i started when it aired and i stopped watching, didn't like it much, don't know why.
NOW CUT TO ANNOUNCEMNT OF SEASON 3, I really like the ML, so just to watch him and Yumi story, I finished of Season 2, and then started watching season 3 and man I am GLAD I DID.
I m legit screaming in front of my screen for more episodes. GIVE ME MORE EPISODES, PLEASE, SEQUEL? PLEASEEEE, i want to see more of their story.
Everything was so good about this season from start. PD is really the fictional guy, I don't think we can ever find someone like him in real. The way all his actions are justified because in such few epis, they clearly showed who he is, as a person. and Yumi, our Yumi, loved the scene where she was going with his vibe, even though she couldn't understand it, i couldn't stop laughing, the generation gap surely makes the relationship exciting.
Absolutely loved that they were acting like an adult, talking things out, no being awkward and shy when it came to being physical, how him being young talking so openly about it, as we do. loved that.
AGAIN, i am back with my agenda,
give me more epi please!!!!

Thank you for your love journey, Yumi
DisclaimerWhat I am writing here are my views and thoughts about this series. Some of you may not like it. That does not give you the right to try to come at me with your opinions on why this series should get a higher or lower score and why it is better/worse than I think it is. You have your own opinions, and I have mine. Kindly respect that.
I started this journey of 'Yumi's Cells' from the year 2021. And here we ae in the year 2026, her story told in three seasons. Now, the thing is, I didn't expect to become emotionally attached to these cells, but I did (heck I even got a little teary-eyed at the end of the final episode of season three). Yumi went through a lot in the name of love, and I believe that she needed these two exes as they did make her stronger on the aspects of going after what she loves (Babi in encouraging her to be a writer) and in learning to opening her heart again to fall in love. All of this was needed for Yumi to finally get the happy ending that she deserved, although she did go through painful break-ups with them.
Kim Go Eun shines once again as the role of Yumi and i actually felt that Kim Jae Won as Sin Sun Rok was a good choice (although I was seeing some negative reviews about him due to his main role in 'Hierarchy'). I thank the director and all the team who worked on this and was able to give us a third season (although a short one) as we are able to see the happy ending of Yumi and her cells.

It became more than just a series
This season made me laugh just as much as the previous ones, but what really stayed with me is how deeply attached I’ve become to Yumi as a person. Watching her across the seasons, seeing her change, make mistakes, grow, and understand herself better, genuinely feels like growing up alongside her.I felt so close to her this time, her emotions, her struggles, the way she processes things all made sense to me in a way that felt almost personal. Her honesty and vulnerability are what make her so easy to connect to.
The cells are still the highlight, the Naughty cell had me laughing so much, and the Hunger cell felt a little too real, I’m pretty sure mine would look exactly the same. The relationship this season felt incredibly natural, nothing felt forced or frustrating, and I never once felt the urge to skip anything, which says a lot.
If anything, I wanted more, I could’ve watched them do absolutely nothing for ten more episodes and still be completely invested.
What stood out to me the most is how different this relationship feels compared to the previous ones, it’s more grounded, more stable, and just makes sense on a deeper level. You can feel that compatibility even before the story confirms it.
There’s also a subtle shift in how everything unfolds, she takes the first emotional step, while he’s the one who ultimately gives in completely, and that dynamic adds something new to her journey. It feels like everything she went through before led her here, to something more mature and balanced. I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

Where's Woong?
I remember finishing season 2 when it came out and being really disappointed that season 3 wasn't out immediately....4 years later....on the result. It wasn't worth it. This could have finished at season 2 with her getting together with Woong, and it would have been perfect. Ever heard of the season 3 curse? They are always a let-down because too much time has elapsed. In that time Kdramaland is now catering for western values at the expense of what made them so special and different in the first place. I, for one have no interest in a now well off Yumi that's rich and successful. It only works when we can identify with the main character and I can't. There are so many things wrong with this season. For one, the casting of Sin Sun Rok, seriously you are casting someone just because they are tall. He has no character, no attraction, no talent, no sex appeal. Kim Go Eun is around 10 years older than him and it shows. She acts circles around him. She had no chemistry with Lee Min-ho in The King: Eternal Monarch either. I think Korea has excellent older female actresses, but they always place them with younger male actors that can't act, they're just eye candy. The webtoon has him at 3 years younger than her. Are you telling me there are no other K male actors around that age? Just himbos to bring in a younger female audience. There is zero chemistry between them. It was completely unbelievable. At first, I was disappointed on learning there were only 8 episodes compared to the previous 14, but my lord it really dragged towards the end, I couldn't wait for it to end.And what's up with the looks? They styled them to make the age difference even wider! Her hairstyle was blaah! Her knits were yuck, seriously if you are rich & successful can't you afford to dress better? She did when she was poorer! His informal style was huge T-shirt and shorts WoW! Well done on making him look like a 15-year-old teenage boy. I couldn't help thinking she looked more like his mother! Ah, the fantasy of men these days is to date a mother you can f**k, that way all you have to be is obedient and have no responsibility. The most manly thing he said was Kajo "Let's go" when it's completely unnecessary, assemble a console...hmmm so useful, write notes and reverse driving...of course he's in a rush to get married. Have someone to love you for nothing, all you have to do is worship your sugar mama, and you're on easy street. What is the message here? Become rich & successful, and you can buy any man you want, get anything you want. Isn't this role reversal? Isn't this what men use to do to get women? This is NOT equality. And sorry but how can they eat so many cakes non-stop and still be so thin? Season 1 is the best. I will not be rewatching this season ever again.

I didn't expect with the story line
For the first time, I watch Yumi Cell because of the main cast JaeWon and Kim Go Eun.I've known JaeWon because if the Fillipino Online Series produce by Kristel. At first, his acting is not good and need to learn more. His character is perfect for me as introvert.
The characters is like emotions present for introverted and extroverted. I understand what is Yumi Cells now, now I feel to rewatch to understand better and other sequel from S1 to S3.

I am biased. I love it.
I loved the season 1& season 2. I love Kim Go Eun so much. And I love the webtoon.So... I am biased. I waited so long for this. I didn't have any hopes of season 3 for so long. That's why I feel like this is a gift and I should cherish it. That's why I am biased.
But I really like SunRok. I think Jae Won is doing a good job portraying him.
I am sad about the fact that they gave to Babi a lot of things from SunRok's storyline. But I have hopes that they will make up for it.
I watched the first 4 episodes, I realized I really missed Yumi and the cells. I rewatched season 1 and 2, after that. I am really looking forward to Yumi's happy ending.
I think I would enjoy season 3 regardless. It's my cup of tea. So far, everything is good.

how is it 8 eps
i appreciate that it's not gonna be exactly like the comic but how does it make since they're suddenly in love when he never talks and he viewed her like an annoying person for a while and why we're not getting enough cells scenes like this's the story it feels like they just wanted to get rid of this's series all together cause it doesn't make sense how the story is going and how they're supposed to date and get married in one ep we're not even attached to him yet where's the depth fr wth ....Was this review helpful to you?

Needed more.
I will always love Yumi and the whole series is a 10 for me, but I would've loved a longer season, specially because this is the ride or die dude, so it needed more time to develop the relationship and having all the cute moments we needed to fall in love with Soon Rok. I never thought I'd say this but I kinda missed Ruby???? wish it had included more of her friends but I guess it comes hand in hand with it being such a short season. That being said, I spent the last episode crying. Reall looking forward to rewatch the whole thing...multiple times. Was this review helpful to you?
Is it a Crime?
Is it a Crime if I've finished watching Season 3 without watching the 2 previous Season?Soon Rok just catches my eye the moment the Trailer for this season came out and I don't wanna watch or wait to finish 2 seasons for me to meet him so I went my way of watching Season 3 and boy I was glad I did!
I've seen Yumi's Cell being published in Webtoon, I've read some but didn't get to finish it because I was too young to understand how the plot goes but after watching season 3 I realised that maybe I should read it again..
Being broken hearted for 2 times really did a toll on her that I really wanna know the story behind her blandness in life when S3 started, but I'm happy for Yumi for finding peace despite all of the things she'd been through
After finishing the series I can literally see myself to Soon Rok, whenever I'm at work I'm always on auto-pilot, but when I'm home I'm more of myself.. A Homebody..
I'm going to miss the gang!!

That'll do, cells. That'll do.
I know this is technically a self-contained drama, but it will make more sense if we include Yumi's Cells 1 and 2 in our discussions.Let's get the easy bits out of the way. The production quality is solid. Everything has a glow up. The FL is now a successful writer. She works in a swanky studio of her own and has a Padawan . . I mean assistant writer. However, she has been surviving in an emotional desert for years. No distractions = max productivity. That is a double edged sword though. Her romantic stories are more polished, but they are becoming tropey as they are no longer fuelled by raw emotions from her heart.
In terms of acting, Kim Go Eun IS Yumi. She owns the titular role by now. Her cells exist in a familiar space, mostly leading a sedate existence or placed in suspended animation as she locks away emotions that are deemed unproductive.
The ML is a young, up and coming actor. He already appeared in several high-profile dramas in various capacities. He is tall and handsome. His role swings from a cold, detached professional to a hot-blooded lovesick puppy. He has good chemistry with the FL and there are some nice skinship. Occasionally, he will drift into this bemused expression as if he couldn't believe he is the ML. He has room to grow and I'll be keeping an eye on his progress.
As expected, the cells shared almost equal billing. This time, we are introduced to the ML's cells as well. While there are some commonalities, there are also unique variants. The General who oversees the ML's principles is a gem. Thankfully, the cells are less of a filler gimmick this time round.
We now need to look at the series as a whole. While the first series planted the FL firmly in the role of a supportive girlfriend with limited agency. The second show took a different path as Yumi discovered self-love and developed a backbone. She is the tragic example of win some and lose some in the game of love.
This third installment starts off feeling same-y, yet . . different. For starters, this series is only 8 eps long instead of the usual 14/16. This means the story is much more focused. Once it hit its stride, the show really motors along. This is a good thing. While the first series feels about right in its pacing, the second one can feel a little draggy at times. Maybe it is due to the heavier tonal shift in YC2.
If I'm honest, I came onto this show with some trepidation as well. I'm happy to report that this series has found its mojo again. :)
To wit, instead of more awkward push-pulls as Yumi navigate a new romance. We are given a much more straightforward preposition. The ML is totally smitten by Yumi and he is not wasting time. Woof! It was cute to see all the cells that have been sidelined or even placed in suspended animation came back to life. The naughty cell is a hoot!
So, if we look at Yumi's journey as a three act play then this shortened drama makes a lot more sense. She is finally in the position to recognise when True Love™ comes knocking. In stead of the uncertainties and self-doubts earlier, she was able to push through and make the right decision for the right reasons. There are no fireworks or epic battle of Wills. Just a quiet confidence that speaks volumes.
The final scenes are beautifully done and firmly cemented the cells’ place in our hearts. It was a fitting finale to a years long journey.
The writer-nim hit paydirt when they created the animated cells, but all good things must come to an end. Fare thee well, cells! Peace.
