Die Trying to Make You Love Me (2025)

Warm, touching tale about a girl adapting to new household

I was in the mood for Zhang Ruo Chen dramas so I decided to watch this one because I had never seen Zhong Zheng as ML before. I didn't know what to expect but I was glad that I chose this drama. I liked it a lot.

What I liked:
1. FL characterisation - I liked her resilience and determination to do well for herself. I was moved when there were scenes that told viewers about her upbringing with her father.
2. Sibling dynamics - It was great to see how the relationship between FL and SML who is her stepbrother progressed from frosty to warm. I liked that ML realised the misunderstandings and tried best to improve his relationship with FL in his own way.
3. Romance - Slowburn friend to lovers trope. ML fell for FL but realised that FL needed to feel secure in her new home. So he was never explicit nor aggressive in his pursuit of her.
4. ML characterisation - I liked that he quietly supported FL and always tried to find ways to be around FL.
5. Acting - Wonderful performances by Zhang Ruo Chen, Zhong Zheng, Yue Yang. It was nice to see the actress who played FL's mother in a loving mother role - I always saw her as evil ex-wife and stepmother.
6. Supporting characters - I liked ML's two buddies, FL's mother & stepfather and FL's two friends.

What I disliked:
1. Blind date - I disliked the girl who was on blind date with ML. She was going to take advantage but luckily her green tea ways were caught on by many.
2. FL's relatives - I disliked her father, stepmother and half-brother.

Se você procura um drama para desintoxicar dos tóxicos tão saturados, esse é uma ótima escolha!

Assim que dei play tive a impressão de já ter assistido há um tempo no yt por causa das cenas iniciais e por causa do ator Zhong Zheng, mas com o passar do drama vi que devo ter visto pequenos frames na busca enquanto caçava um drama e outro. Então continuei e, apesar da insistência inicial do ML ser um pouco intensa se formos analisar a idade da FL (18), ele sempre está ao lado dela a protegendo e tentando a fazer se sentir feliz e pertencendo a nova dinâmica familiar.
É um drama leve, divertido, que arranca várias risadas pela briga de cão e gato da FL com o irmão (a mãe dela se casou novamente, com o pai dele). O irmão finge não se importar, mas sempre que ela precisa também está lá para defendê-la junto com o ML.
Óbvio que aparece um pseudo-chá verde no rolê, mas até ela é consciente e mais real do que aqueles dramas tóxicos, não dura muito tempo, amém! Afinal, era um encontro as cegas que se estendeu para uma viagem e voilá, sumiu do mapa e o foco voltou a ser a relação entre a FL e o ML com o irmão e uma pincelada de família.
Vale bastante a pena assistir por ser rápido (2hrs) e garanto que você vai rir em, pelo menos, umas vezes.
