Sakutaro is encouraged at his translation school to enter a competition. Meanwhile, Kuji agrees to write the closing essay for a new edition of his late father’s book, but he struggles to face the memories of his father, leaving him unable to make progress on the piece. Around the same time, Sakutaro learns that his mother’s health has worsened and accompanies her to the hospital, only to feel frustrated by the doctor’s cold attitude. He opens up to Kuji about his feelings, but when Sakutaro cannot accept Kuji’s suggestion, he abruptly walks away.
