Fool in Love

คนโง่รักเข(ล)า ‧ Drama ‧ 2026

Hi everyone! I started this discussion because I'd love to hear your thoughts on each episode, or just the novel-to-screen adaptation in general.

Therefore, the purpose is to give those who have read the novel or the manhua a space where they can politely express their opinions on the adaptation.

⚠️ Beware of spoilers ahead; read at your own risk.

I don't know if I am the only one, but during the first episode, I had the feeling that Yok (Li Yu) might be interested in Ing (Suiying)—I don't know if you could characterize it as a love interest. As far as I remember from the first chapters of the novel, it was only Suiying who had a crush on Li Yu and used all kinds of tactics in order to spend time with Li Yu and flirt with him. Well, we will see in today's episode if Yok continues to show this interest.

I interpreted that not as romantic interest. More because (in the novel) Yok likes Itt (using drama names) and is on board with Itt's plan and dislikes Ing because of how he's always treated Itt, I think Yok's interest is about studying Ing and finding his weaknesses and helping Itt. Of course, I ALSO think there are layers here and Yok might also be (unwillingly) attracted to Ing, who is, after all, a magnetic and charismatic personality despite being arrogant, etc. He may not even understand that himself at this point, but I think Copter and Bank are playing it that way, and I am all here for it.

@Suliabryon Forget what I said—episodes two and three showed me a completely different perspective. There you can see that Yok is not interested in Ing, although I don't see that he has a crush on Itt either. In that part of the novel, Yok likes Itt; that's why he wants to protect him from Ing.

I 've read the manhua, couldn't read the novel, it was too traumatic for me, the manga is a bit lighter..... Very bold to adapt that kind of novel , but so far , I am really happy they are not sticking 100% , wich was the case with Payback, because so far the angst is there , but the violence I saw in the novel, manhua is toned a lot, I am very pleased with this adaptation. It will be better received from the audience, and the actors will get the recognition they deserve. So far , they are doing great job at portraying the characters. I love it!

I also cant see the “love” Yok is supposed to feel towards Itt. I only see it as 2 friends being friends for each other. Like encouraging Itt to talk to Ing about interning at his company, telling Ing about Itt’s bday celebration n urging him to wish Happy Birthday to his own brother…

Also according to manghwa / novel, Yok and Itt haven’t seen each other for 10 years. Why would u help a friend “destroy” his brother’s life? U only met the brother up until u were 8 (if i’m not mistaken). What revenge are they planning about? 😫

Thanks! I think this aspect is important because you need to understand Yok's motivation for plotting with Itt against Ing. He is in love with Itt, and it angers him to see how badly Ing treats Itt. It's crucial to see this because, otherwise, people won't understand how his crush later turns into hate after finding out everything Itt did to Ing (once Yok and Ing start a relationship). Right now in the series, as you said, I only see two friends doing an internship at the brother's company—it feels like three separate characters or units instead of a dynamic of two against one

Hi lovely people reading this discussion! I encourage you to comment and express your opinions. Here are my thoughts so far up to episode 4. Episode 4 featured what I think is one of the most important and essential moments from the novel: the rape scene. This is going to sound a bit strange because I am going to talk about rape—and it is obviously not something I accept or condone. However, as I said, this scene is very important because normally, all the couples in the 188 series have their first time via non-con, rape, or dub-con. Therefore, I think it is important to talk about how they portrayed it in the series.

I felt disappointed by the rape scene. I mean, we previously had a nice fight in the office, and later the firework scene, which I liked so much. As for the rape scene itself, I didn't like how it was shot, the acting, or the editing. For me, this scene is one of the key moments in the novel because this is where Yok starts to change his mind and his feelings. He begins to discover a new part of himself, entering into Ing's game in this love-hate dynamic at the beginning of their relationship (when I read the novel, I just couldn't shake that feeling).

I think that in the series, it is completely unbelievable that just by tying his hands, Yok could top Ing—I don't buy it at all. Also, the scene itself was so poorly done. I have seen other rape scenes that were much more explicit about penetration, even though the next day, when Yok and Ing are talking, Ing mentions Yok moaning the night before. Of course, they toned down the scene because there is no way they could portray it exactly as it was in the novel—it was very explicit. They probably toned it down due to TV regulations or to reach a bigger audience, but as I said, this version is just unbelievable.

Another thing that happened in episode 4 that I didn't like is the introduction of this new guy, Force. The main characters in this novel/manhua are Yok, Ing, and Itt. And sorry to say this, but Itt needs to be alone—it is completely unnecessary to bring in a new guy just to have a second couple. In order to understand Itt's obsession with Ing (which leads to incest and rape), you need to create an isolated character who has almost no one other than his mother and Yok. I don't know how they are going to play with Force's character or how his presence will influence Itt.

Last but not least, I kind of missed the cohabitation period that Yok, Itt, and Ing had at Ing's house because it was close to the examination center. During this first time living together, you could see Ing's flirtatious and shameless actions. You could also catch glimpses of Yok's crush on Itt, as well as Itt's slightly strange behavior toward Ing, which made you notice that there was something fishy about his actions. Furthermore, this first cohabitation is very different from the one Yok and Ing will have later as a couple.

Could someone share a bit of the story regarding Itt?

Well...you may have already seen spoilers but the short version is, he's obsessed with Ing, in a dark, incestuous way.

BIG SPOILERS BELOW

He becomes so enraged and jealous when he clearly can't have him that he destroys him personally and financially in the ultimate betrayals, stealing his company, his place in the family, and ultimately kidnapping and raping him. Yok is complicit in the theft of the company, from something he helped Itt do before he and Ing ever hooked up, basing his dislike of Ing on all of Itt's manipulative stories of being mistreated by him growing up. (Yok had an unrequited crush on Itt for years, which Itt exploited to get his help.)

Itt is the main antagonist in this story.

Thank you! Yeah I kind of wanted the spoiler, usually I don’t like spoilers but for this series I feel like I have to go in prepared 😂 This is gonna be an interesting ride!

"For this series I feel like I have to go in prepared" - Exactly why I started reading the novel 😂, because truer words have never been spoken!

Haha I don’t know if I should wait for all the episodes to come out, because it sounds like it’s going to be torture to wait between episodes. It’s amazing how fluff the series still feels like (despite there already being a rape basically), and then watching the trailer again realizing how f-ed up it’s gonna get.

I wonder if they will keep the Itt rape in the series, I have a feeling they might not. And I can understand that decision if they have made it, and also understand how it’s a very important part of the story.
