XIA

  • Name: XIA
  • Native name: 시아
  • Given name: Kim Junsu
  • Also Known as: ジュンス, 金俊秀, Jin Jun Xiu, Xiah Junsu, 김준수, 시아준수
  • Nationality: South Korean
  • Gender: Male
  • Born: December 15, 1986
  • Age: 39
Kim Jun Su, also known professionally as Xia or Xia Jun Su, is a South Korean singer, dancer, actor, former member of TVXQ (동방신기) and current member of JX (제이엑스, formerly known as JYJ). He graduated from Hanam High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Musical Performance and a master's degree in Film, both from Myongji University.

He made his debut in December 2003 as TVXQ's lead vocalist and lead dancer with their first single, "Hug". The 5-member group was immediately launched into mainstream recognition, and their first 4 albums received chart-topping commercial success in South Korea, with "Mirotic" winning the Golden Disk Award for Album of the Year. They became one of the first K-pop groups to establish a solid fanbase in Japan and were signed by Avex Group (エイベックス・グループ) to represent them in the country.

But, despite TVXQ's huge success, they fell into legal turmoil and internal conflict when he, Park Yoo Chun, and Kim Jae Joong attempted to split from SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) in July 2009. They filed a lawsuit trying to terminate their contracts, alleging that the 13-year mandatory term was excessively long, schedules were held out without the permission of the members, and profits were unfairly distributed. By October of that year, they were granted an injunction, and the group went on hiatus in South Korea.

At the same time, he decided to create a new group with Park Yoo Chun and Kim Jae Joong. He re-debuted in April 2010 as JYJ's lead vocalist, main dancer and maknae with their first Japanese EP, "The...". They were managed by C-JeS Entertainment (씨제스 스튜디오스) but Avex Group decided to end their relationship with the trio as the Japanese agency remained loyal to SM Entertainment and to the remaining two TVXQ members.

He made his debut as a musical actor in 2010 when he appeared in "Mozart". That same year, he made his debut as a solo artist in Japan with the EP "Xiah". However, he stopped all activities in Japan after the incident with Avex Group. Then, he debuted as a soloist in South Korea when he released his studio album, "Tarantallegra", in May 2012. In a similar way as it happened in Japan, SM Entertainment began blocking him from promoting his music on all three major TV networks. However, he still managed to chart in the top 2 on the Gaon album charts and his concerts and musicals were usually sold out within minutes.

JYJ went on hiatus in late 2015 as all three members began enlisting. The group never released any new material after that.

He enlisted for his mandatory military service on February 9, 2017, and was discharged on November 5, 2018. After serving, he continued promoting as a solo artist and began his acting career.

He left C-JeS in November 2021, and a few days later, he created his own label, Palmtree Island (팜트리 아일랜드), to manage all his activities as an artist.

In November 2024, he decided to join Kim Jae Joong and re-launched JYJ but now, re-labeled as JX. They held two concerts to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
