The action-comedy K-movie Hitman 2 surpassed 1 million moviegoers on its eighth day of release.
Hitman 2 is a comedic action film that follows Jun (Kwon Sang Woo), a once-successful webtoon artist who falls from grace when a terrorist attack mimicking events of Jun's new webtoon occurs, which leads to him being framed as the culprit overnight. The film also stars Jung Joon Ho, Lee Yi Kyung, Hwang Woo Seul Hye, and Kim Sung Oh, in lead roles.
On January 29, The K-movie Hitman 2 surpassed the 1-million-moviegoer mark, according to the integrated computer network for movie tickets. This box office pace not only marks the first 2025 release to reach the 1-million-moviegoer mark but also matches the speed of Firefighter, one of the top five highest-grossing films of 2024 in South Korea, which also hit the 1 million milestone in eight days.
Moreover, Hitman 2 claimed the No. 1 spot on the overall box office performance rankings for two consecutive days starting January 27. In addition, it achieved high cinema seat occupancy rates of 25.7% on January 25, 31.3% on January 26, 30.1% on January 27, and 27.8% on January 28, driving a major box office boom during the Lunar New Year holiday season in the country.
