Kim Young Kwang needs Chae Soo Bin's electric powers to survive in 'Take Charge of My Heart'
Choi Soo Young returns armed with her signature charm in I Dol I.
I Dol I follows the superstar lawyer and die-hard idol fan, Maeng Se Na (Choi Soo Young), as she takes on the case of her favorite idol, Do Ra Ik (Kim Jae Yeong), who has been accused of murder.
The stills show Maeng Se Na's contrasting demeanors in public and private. Maeng Se Na, who takes on only the cases others avoid, has earned the title "Lawyer of Devils". The sight of her coolly blocking an egg thrown through a crowd of reporters without a flicker of tension on her face hints at her notorious reputation. Her presence in the courtroom catches attention as well. The confident smile of victory and the relaxed gaze that follows exude the aura of a star lawyer.
However, outside of her worklife, Maeng Se Na sheds her image as a cool and composed lawyer. She transforms into a hardcore fan of the popular band Gold Boyz. From joining the blood-spilling ticket wars to enjoying a bedroom concert surrounded by merchandise of her favourite Do Ra Ik, Maeng Se Na's fangirling gives a twist to her star lawyer personality.
Choi Soo Young commented, "The fan–idol relationship built around a murder case where the real culprit is unknown felt unique and fun. Above all, the way the aspects depicting fangirl devotion — something I’ve seen up close — were portrayed so realistically felt charming and cute." She added, "I've never played a lawyer before, so I wanted to take on the challenge."
She continued, "Se Na may look cold at first glance, but she's a professional who approaches people and work with clear standards and methods. However, when she's fangirling, she has a purity that [brings her] sheer happiness and love. That contrast is her biggest charm."
She also explained that she focused on making Se Na feel like "a person you could plausibly find around you" in order to portray this contrast." "I saw Se Na's emotional core — the part of her that isn't affected by people's rudeness or negative judgments — as the foundation of her character. From there, as I imagined what Ra Ik would mean to her and fleshed out the character, the reason and meaning behind her fangirling became clear."
