Chinese adaptation of the hit K-drama Death's Game is reportedly in the works.

On April 3, a reportedly leaked production notice circulated on Chinese platforms stating that the filming/set construction of the Chinese film Deadly Loop (literal Chinese title) had begun. Fan Cheng Cheng and Zhao Jin Mai star together for the first time. The film is adapted from the famous Korean drama Death's Game.

The film tells the story of a young man, Zhang Wei, who unexpectedly falls into a deadly time loop and experiences twelve different lives. In the end, he comes to understand the meaning of life and saves his family and friends. The story is set in a fictional Pacific island country. Director Zhang Yi Nan is reported to be helming.

Fan Cheng Cheng takes on the male lead role of Zhang Wei, and Zhao Jin Mai plays the key female lead. This marks their first collaboration. Rumors circulate that Jackson Yee will make a cameo, though this has not yet been officially announced.

There is also quite some talk about the billing order (the order in which actors' names appear in promotional material). The announcement lists Fan Cheng Cheng before Zhao Jin Mai, which is rubbing Zhao's fans the wrong way.

Deadly Loop is expected to be released in mainland China in 2028.

Meanwhile, Death's Game is the story of Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk), a perennially unemployed man struggling in all spheres of life, who goes through the cycle of life and death 12 times as a punishment from Death (Park So Dam) after he takes his own life.

The K-drama generated quite a buzz thanks to its star cast, including Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Go Youn Jung, Kim Ji Hoon, Kim Jae Wook, Sung Hoon, Lee Do Hyun, Lee Jae Wook, and Oh Jung Se, among others.

Death's Game also lived up to the hype, topping Prime Video's Top 10 charts in numerous countries upon its release.
