Park Bo Gum, Kim So Hyun, Oh Jung Se, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, and Tae Won Seok take off their medals and put on police badges to fight injustice in Good Boy.
Good Boy is an action comedy drama where medalists turned police officers, wearing police badges instead of medals around their necks, fight against injustice.
Leaving behind their dazzling pasts as medalists who once stood, proud and joyful, atop the podium, the "Goodvengers" — Park Bo Gum, Kim So Hyun, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, and Tae Won Seok — begin to run once again with burning passion, overcoming wounds and setbacks to face a harsh reality.
The teaser opens with a glimpse into the glorious past of heroic athletes who once seized medals at international competitions. Boxing gold medalist Yun Dong Joo (Park Bo Gum), shooting gold medalist Ji Han Na (Kim So Hyun), fencing silver medalist Kim Jong Hyeon (Lee Sangyi), wrestling bronze medalist Go Man Sik (Heo Sung Tae), and discus throw bronze medalist Shin Jae Hong (Tae Won Seok) each shone brilliantly in their respective arenas.
But that glory doesn't last long. The following scenes quickly flash through the bleak present of these former athletes, now police officers.
Yun Dong Joo, who once delivered opponent-defeating uppercuts in front of roaring crowds, is now seen catching fleeting sleep in a cramped car under the cover of night.
Ji Han Na, who used to hit pinpoint targets with razor-sharp focus, is forced to put on a fake smile in a reality far removed from her ideals.
Kim Jong Hyun, who once swung his fencing sword with flair, and Go Man Sik, who once overpowered opponents with powerful throws, now find themselves in equally dismal situations. And Shin Jae Hong, who once hurled the discus with might in a vast stadium, now stands on the street wearing an oversized police mascot costume.
But their hearts blaze fiercely once more, ignited by the passion to fight the greatest villain in Inseong City. His barely visible silhouette hints that he won't be easily caught.
Even so, the "Goodvengers" march forward with unwavering determination. Yun Dong Joo says, "The round isn't over until the opponent is down."
The production team described Good Boy as "a story about youth who rise again after defeat," adding, "Our 'Goodvengers,' who are ready to throw a satisfying uppercut at a world full of injustice and foul play, are here to reignite the dying flames. Having broken free from their bleak lives, they're set to light a fiery spark in viewers' hearts as well. Above all, we've packed the series with comedy, action, and melodrama — so please enjoy it to the fullest."
Good Boy will premiere on May 31. The K-drama will be streaming on Prime Video. Watch the teaser here.
