'Teach You a Lesson' Kim Mu Yeol admits childcare is harder than work
Hwang Min Hyun is set to return for Study Group Season 2.
On January 27, the production company of Study Group officially confirmed the production and announced that Hwang Min Hyun has been confirmed to reprise the lead role of Yun Ga Min.
At the time of Season 1, Hwang Min Hyun filmed the project but enlisted in the military shortly afterward, which meant he was unable to take part in promotional activities. Following his discharge from service in December, he has chosen Study Group Season 2 as his comeback project.
The production team stated, "Hwang Min Hyun already has a perfect understanding of the character," and added, "You can look forward to new sides of Ga Min that we didn’t get to see in Season 1 — such as the reason he wanted so badly to be good at studying and the dilemmas he faces — as well as action sequences that are even more spectacular."
According to reports, in Season 2, Yun Ga Min, together with the study group members — whose friendship has grown even stronger — takes on a massive force of evil that threatens students nationwide, going beyond Yusung Technical High School.
Study Group is a high-school-themed action comedy that follows Yun Ga Min (Hwang Min Hyun), who dreams of excelling academically but is only gifted in fighting. Enrolling in a notorious school, where bullies reign, he forms a study group and, along with his friends, engages in bloody fights, making a desperate effort to study and go to college.
After the release of Study Group, the number of paid subscribers doubled compared to its first week of release on TVING. It also entered the Top 5 in 147 regions — including the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and France — on Rakuten Viki.
Study Group Season 2 is set to begin filming soon.
