On the afternoon of July 15, new developments emerged regarding Barbie Hsu's estate. According to reports, Hsu's ex-husband, Wang Xiao Fei, is also investigating her overseas assets. The reports claim that Barbie Hsu owned numerous assets abroad and that only her mother, Huang Chun Mei, knows where they are. They also allege that the payments from Barbie Hsu's skincare endorsement in Taiwan before her death were deposited into a company under her name and managed by her mother.

On July 15, topics including "S-mom responds to rumors that Koo Jun Yup is fighting over Barbie Hsu's inheritance" and "Reports reveal how Barbie Hsu's assets were allocated before her death" surged to the top of the trending searches.

According to Taiwanese media reports, rumors have circulated online claiming that the late actress's husband Koo Jun Yup has not given up his right to inherit Barbie Hsu's estate and will instead attend a court mediation through his lawyer. There were also claims that the move was made at the private request of Barbie Hsu's mother, who allegedly believes that Barbie Hsu's ex-husband still owes money that has not yet been paid.

Responding to the rumors, Barbie Hsu's mother said:

"Who came up with that? It's complete nonsense. I'm practically half-dead already. These rumors have nothing to do with me. My precious daughter is gone, I'm on the verge of ending up on the streets, and I can't even see my grandchildren. Do you really think these rumors still matter?"

Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun Yup

On February 2, 2025, Taiwanese actress and singer Xu Xi Yuan, better known as Barbie Hsu,  tragically passed away in Japan from pneumonia caused by influenza complications at the age of 48.

The news sent shockwaves through the Chinese-speaking entertainment industry. Soon afterward, a battle began to gradually unfold over the approximately NT$650 million (roughly 150 million yuan or 22.15 million USD) estate she left behind.

Recently, reports claim Barbie Hsu drafted an estate distribution plan on her phone before her death: Her jewelry and designer handbags were to be left to her daughter, while the remainder of her assets would be inherited by her husband Koo Jun Yup, her two children, and the children of her elder sister.

Koo Jun Yup has reportedly not given up his right to inherit Barbie Hsu's estate — despite previously reportedly vowing that he wouldn't take a single penny of her inheritance  — and is allegedly preparing to seek a share of the inheritance that would otherwise legally go to Hsu's two children. A court mediation hearing is reportedly scheduled for next week. Koo Jun Yup's legal team has not yet responded to the reports.
