Lee Joon Gi is in talks to return to a historical K-drama, 10 years since 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Hear
Lee Joon Gi will reportedly return to the historical genre after ten years.
On July 23, media outlets reported that Lee Joon Gi has been chosen to be the main lead of the historical comedy K-drama Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency.
Lee Joon Gi's agency, Namoo Actors, shared their response to the casting reports and revealed, "Lee Joon Gi received the offer and is currently reviewing it."
Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency will showcase the journey of a King who investigates a mystery case and a rookie officer trying to keep up with the King's every move.
Lee Joon Gi has been offered the role of King Hyejong, a character investigating a case. He is set to work alongside the character named Lee Seo, who pursues the King. There is no information yet on which actor will join Lee Joon Gi in the upcoming K-drama.
Meanwhile, the historical K-drama's filming, airing date, and broadcast channel are still under discussion.

If Lee Joon Gi decides to join Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency, it will mark his grand return to historical K-dramas after a ten-year hiatus. Known for his roles in this genre throughout his career, he hasn't starred in one since the popular Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo in 2016.
This K-drama will also be Lee Joon Gi's return to the small screen after three years. The actor last starred in the tvN K-drama Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun with Jang Dong Gun, Shin Sae Kyeong, Kim Ok Bin, Park Hae Joon, and Cha Yong Hak.
