On June 14, the star posted a heartfelt handwritten letter on Instagram, revealing that he is set to begin his mandatory military service on July 21.

Hello. This is Lee Jun Young.

I've been agonizing for months over where to begin, and in the end, I decided to write this message myself. I'm already on my tenth draft. Haha!

By now, I suppose you've watched Episode 6 of Reborn Rookie and are getting ready to go to bed, right?

Thank you, as always, for watching today. Hmm... I felt it would be better for me to share this news with you personally rather than have you hear it through news articles, which is why I'm leaving this message.

I never imagined that I would personally deliver this kind of news.

Yes! I will be enlisting in the military on July 21. Until I found out the enlistment date, I was like, "Well, it's not a big deal. You just go." But once I got the date, I found myself thinking about many things for the first time in a while.

I also spent a great deal of time wondering how to share this news with all of you. Now that I'm writing it out, one letter at a time like this, I think my heart feels a little lighter.

I will go and return in good health while staying true to myself. Until the day I greet you again, I sincerely hope that all of you stay healthy and spend happy and meaningful times in your lives.
