Actor Song Geon Hee is enlisting in the military.

On November 24, a representative from his agency, JG Entertainment, stated to Ilgan Sports, "Song Geon Hee will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Army on December 1."

After completing five weeks of basic military training at the training camp, Song Geon Hee will carry out his mandatory military service. His discharge date is May 2027.

Born in 1997 and currently 28 years old, Song Geon Hee made his debut in 2017 through the PikiCast drama Flat. Since then, he has starred in dramas such as SKY CastleMissing: The Other Side, and Moment at Eighteen.

Last year, he shot to fame as he delivered a passionate performance as Kim Tae Sung, the second male lead, in the drama Lovely Runner starring Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon, which emerged as not only a domestic but also an international hit.

South Korea's mandatory military service requires nearly all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 to serve in the armed forces. Service lasts about 18–21 months, depending on the branch, beginning with a physical exam, enlistment, and five weeks of basic training before assignment to a unit. Celebrities are not exempt and must pause their careers to serve, as the law applies equally to actors, singers, and athletes. Only limited exceptions exist, such as major international sports or classical music achievements, or serious health issues. Military service is widely viewed as a cultural rite of passage, and celebrities' enlistment and anticipated return often make front-page headlines.
