Netflix to release 'Weak Hero Class 1' worldwide

Netflix is releasing Weak Hero Class 1 globally on March 25 before the premiere of Weak Hero Class 2. 

Weak Hero Class 1 follows Yeon Si Eun, a top model student, as he confronts acts of violence alongside Su Ho (Choi Hyun Wook) and Beom Seok (Hong Kyung), the first friends he has ever made. The series will be streaming worldwide on Netflix in over 190 countries starting March 25. 

Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name, Weak Hero Class 1 is a critically acclaimed K-drama that was widely recognized. Upon its release in 2022, the series achieved an impressive 45.5% share on OTT platforms. Featuring outstanding performances from rising stars including Park Ji Hoon, Choi Hyun Wook, Hong Kyung, Shin Seung Ho, and Lee Yeon, the drama gave the thrills of school action narratives. 

The story follows model student Yeon Si Eun (Park Ji Hoon), who is unexpectedly drawn into a whirlwind of violence. Together with Su Ho (Choi Hyun Wook) and Beom Seok (Hong Kyung), he stands up against violence both inside and outside of school.

The series also garnered widespread acclaim from the local media for tackling heavy themes of violence and growth with youth as the protagonists. In particular, Yeon Si Eun's unique "brain action" — using his intelligence as a weapon of strategy in fights — was brought about through director You Su Min's unique and stylish direction. The series was lauded for opening a new chapter in K-school action dramas.  

Following the success of Season 1, Weak Hero Class 2 is set to premiere on Netflix in the second quarter of this year. The new season will depict Yeon Si Eun's brutal fight for survival and journey of growth as he transfers to Eunjang High School, carrying the trauma of failing to protect his friend despite standing up against violence. Determined never to lose another friend, he faces even greater violence head-on. 

Building on the previous season, Weak Hero Class 2 will introduce a fresh lineup of rising stars. Ryeoun, Choi Min Yeong, and Lee Min Jae will take on roles as new friends Yeon Si Eun meets at Eunjang High School. Adding to the anticipation, Yoo Soo Bin, who heightened tension at the end of Weak Hero Class 1 as Choi Hyo Man, is set to return, sparking curiosity about his role in the new season. Furthermore, Bae Na Ra joins as part of a powerful alliance that Yeon Si Eun and his friends must confront, while Lee Jun Young makes a special appearance. 

Weak Hero Class 1 will be released worldwide on Netflix in over 190 countries on March 25, and Weak Hero Class 2 is set to premiere in the second quarter of 2025.
