NU'EST Hwang Min Hyun will reportedly reprise his role in the upcoming second season of Study Group.
On October 23, media outlets reported that Hwang Min Hyun's first project after his military discharge will be Study Group Season 2. According to reports, the idol actor will reprise his role in the new season, which is set to begin filming in the first half of 2026.
Hwang Min Hyun's agency, Pledis Entertainment, responded to the circulating reports. According to them, "Hwang Min Hyun is currently reviewing the offer to return to the second season of the K-drama."
Last May, the production company behind Study Group, Studio Dragon, confirmed that the hit K-drama will return with a second season.
Study Group was Hwang Min Hyun's final project before his military enlistment. If the idol actor confirms his return, Study Group Season 2 will be his first official project in the industry after completing his military service.
Study Group is a high school-themed action comedy that showcases the journey of Yoon Ga Min, who, despite lacking academic talent, excels in fighting. When he joins the worst school, he immerses himself in the intense world of competitive exams, forming a study group as he goes. The K-drama based its story from the popular webtoon of the same name, penned by Shin Hyung Wook and illustrated by Yoo Seung Yeon. The second season will continue the story of Yoon Ga Min and his friends.
Aside from Hwang Min Hyun, Han Ji Eun, Cha Woo Min, Lee Jong Hyun, Shin Su Hyun, and Yoon Sang Jung also led the first season. The remaining cast members for the second season have not been announced.
Director Lee Jang Hoon (Miracle: Letters to the President and Be with You) and writer Oh Bo Hyun (Behind Your Touch, Island, and Aftermath), who collaborated on the first season, are also reportedly set to return for the new season.
Study Group Season 2 is aiming to be released in 2026.
