Singer and actress IU makes a generous donation of 100 million won in celebration of Korea's Children's Day.

On May 5, her agency EDAM Entertainment stated, "To mark Children's Day, IU donated a total of 100 million won under the name 'IUaena' (IU + Uaena, her official fan club)." The donation will be used to provide practical support for children and adolescents.

The funds were delivered in equal amounts of 50 million won each to the Korea Child Welfare Association and the National Association of Regional Child Centers. The donations are planned to be used to provide supplies and medical expenses for children in protective care living in child welfare facilities, as well as to provide gifts and cultural experiences for children at regional child centers during their birthdays.

IU has consistently donated under "IUaena" on meaningful occasions each year, such as her debut anniversary, her birthday, and the year-end holidays.

At the end of last year, she also donated 200 million won, continuing her spirit of sharing. In March of the same year, she donated 200 million won to support restoration efforts following damage from wildfires in the Gyeongsang region and also to benefit firefighters. On Children's Day, she donated 150 million won for children and adolescents. In addition, she has continued her acts of kindness by donating 200 million won each on her birthday and debut anniversary to support vulnerable groups.

IU debuted in 2008 and has been among the most prominent singers and actors in Korean entertainment. She is currently gracing the small screen in the MBC drama Perfect Crown, starring alongside Byeon Woo Seok.
