Stephen Chow-directed Kung Fu Soccer surpasses 1.1 billion yuan
Overdo, starring Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu Ran, has confirmed its release for July 19.
Overdo tells the story of Murong Qing Yi (Zhang Ling He) and Ren Su Su (Wang Chu Ran), who, amid the upheavals of a chaotic era, become bound by fate after a rescue.
From misplaced identities to deep family feuds, from heart-wrenching separation to a complicated reunion, the two are repeatedly pulled between love and hatred. Side by side, they step into peril, embarking together on this Republican-era drama of passion, love, hatred, and cathartic revenge.
The C-drama is adapted from Fei Wo Si Cun's novel "If I Hadn't Met You This Second" (literal Chinese title).

During the Republican era in Shanghai, Murong Qing Yi (Zhang Ling He), the son of a warlord, suffers abuse from his adoptive father after being switched at birth. While fleeing as a teenager, he is rescued by Ren Su Su (Wang Chu Ran), but her act of kindness ultimately brings catastrophic ruin upon her entire family.
Years later, the two reunite. But in order to save someone else, Ren Su Su stages her own death and disappears, leaving Murong Qing Yi consumed by the anguish of losing the woman he loves.
Three years later, Ren Su Su returns — only to reappear as Murong Qing Yi's would-be sister-in-law.
Now, the two stand on opposite sides of a painful past — one consumed by the bitterness of what he believes was betrayal, the other burdened by a pain she cannot bring herself to reveal.
Just as the misunderstandings between them begin to unravel, the nation is plunged into crisis. Resolved to lay down their lives if necessary, Murong Qing Yi and Ren Su Su join forces to confront a formidable enemy — but where will fate ultimately lead them?
Overdo is coming July 19. Stream it on WeTV, iQIYI, and Viki. Watch the teaser here.
